The Missing Princess

Kodi

Reign is up to something and I haven’t been able to figure out what it is. This last week was interesting. After the surfing competition, which I won, which also pissed Eros off, I was hauled off to O’Ahu for a few days. I was sent there for a photo shoot and a few other things. Reign was pissed because he couldn’t go. He actually had to fly to Oregon for some business shit. I didn’t like that since it left the pack without either of us. Uncle Aaron stepped in and helped out. I was going to reschedule my shit, but he told me not to. Ino, Kekipi, and Mauku reminded me that they were there and that they have ran the pack before when Reign had to travel for business. Okay so I know they are right, but I feel like one of the two of us should have been there. I didn't like the fact that both the Alpha and Luna were away.

“It’s way to fucking quiet here.” I mumble.

I had just walked into the pack house and all I hear are the few omegas in the kitchen. It is between meal times so there are probably only two or three in there. I open the door to our room and again it is quiet. Reign isn’t due back for another two days, which sucks. I laid my bag on the bed and began to unpack. I let Daimonio out of his kennel. I took him with me because with both of us gone I wasn’t sure who would look after him, He is still so small and I was so worried. I stayed with one of the higher ranked warriors and his family while I was in O’Ahu so he had a whole house to terrorise. For such a little shit he can sure cause some big trouble. The two pups there were enamoured by him, their parents not so much. He hurried over to his food bowl and started to chow down like he hadn’t ate earlier. Hell he ate on the private plane on the back here. After I put my shit away I left him sleeping on the couch and headed down stairs.

“Where are Ino, Kekipi, and Mauku?” I asked.

“ The beta and gamma had to run into town quickly for something and the delta left with Alpha Aaron a few minutes ago to check on something at the south east part of the border.” The guard told me.

I nodded at him and watched him walk away, but something didn’t feel right. The shadows began to swirl around and they were talking so damn fast I couldn't understand. I went to the kitchen and told everyone to go to the bunkers. Something in my gut was telling me me that what ever drew Uncle Aaron and Mauku to the south east border that it is a distraction. As everyone started to head for the bunkers howls sounded out. They were close to. Fuck, I knew it. There was no way that everyone in the pack house will make to safety before whoever is out there makes it here. Myra comes bursting in through the door as I start to place a protection spell around the pack house. She has two other people with her.

“Go, I will explain later.” She told me.

I nod at her as I run out the door. I hear growling and fighting. Some of the warriors are battling the rogues. I quickly made my way to the pond with the waterfall. The only way I will pull this off is if I have a large amount of water to re-energise me. I come across Tayhill and Raef. I let the shadows lose and they tear the rogues away from both of them. I continue on my way and I can hear them following me. Not surprised. I slip off my flip flops and walk out into the pond. I let myself sink to the bottom. I am sure Tayhill and Raef are freaking the fuck out.

{Protect the pack house. Let no one in.}

{Yes princess they will be protected.}

I rise up through the water and hover just on the surface. I hear someone suck in a breath. I close my eyes and then open them. I know they are glowing as the forest starts to come alive. The forest knows who our pack is and who is a rogue. The forest and island has been protecting the pack since I began living here. I can feel someone trying to link me but I block them out. A rogue tears through the foliage and lunges at Raef. I grab him around the neck forcing him to shift back using my magic. These fuckers want a fight then that is what they will get. I make sure that the forest is still helping us as I walk towards where all the growling and shit is coming from.

“Well well what do we have here? The alpha left his little Luna here to fight by herself. Guess he doesn’t want her here when he returns.” One of the rogues says.

“Oh I’ll be right here when he returns. It’s hilarious that you think I need him to protect me.” I hiss.

“Oh we are going to have lots of fun with you human.” Another one growls.

An evil smile spread across my face as more shadows descend upon us. I can feel when Uncle Aaron walks up beside me. The rogues growl when they realise who he is. One of the rogues lunges at me only to be engulfed in flames. Black smoke begins to spread out across the land as I walk forward. I hear a few of the rogues cry out as Uahi swoops down ripping at them with his claws. I let out a scream when something latches onto my shoulder. Whoever it is quickly lets go as my whole body goes up in blue flames. The rogue is dead by the time his body hits the ground. The flames die down as the rogues turn tail and run. I can feel something running down my back. As things calm down I hear several different people shifting. I feel a hand on my shoulder which makes me whine. Fuck that hurt.

“Kodi we need to get you to the hospital.” Uncle Aaron says.

I turn to look at him but everything becomes blurry and everyone sounds so far away. I somehow make it back to the pond, but as I let myself sink into the water my shoulder starts to hurt. The pain becomes so bad that black spots begin to appear. As everything fades someone wraps their arms around me as we ascend. I have no idea who it is but as we break the surface I can hear yelling as someone grabs me from whoever has me. That person says something but the black spots are increasing in number as my world goes dark.

Reign

I was seeing red as I walked into the pack hospital. Mauku had phoned me before letting me know that him and Dad were checking out some suspicious shit at the south east border. Brandt had been able to let me know that they were under attack. I was pissed by that point but when he told me that Kodi had gotten back earlier that day I lost my shit. I knew I needed to get back and called Lester to have him get the plane fucking ready. I knew there was no way that Kodi wouldn’t fight, but I also knew that the guys and Dad wouldn’t let her get hurt. I could feel her anger and power flaring within our bond so I knew shit was going down. We were half way there when my fucking shoulder felt like it was going to be torn off. I knew right then that Kodi was hurt and there was nothing I could do about it. I was off the plane before it came to a stop. I didn’t bother with getting my shit I let Blade take over and ran back.

“Here are some shorts.” Dad says.

“Get your ass changed before you go any further into my hospital. You might be the alpha but this is my hospital and I won’t have you tracking god knows what through its halls.” Chiron growls.

I growl at him, but Blade grabs the shorts as we walk into one of the changing rooms. I shift back and step under the shower to rinse off. I slip the shorts on as I walk out drying my hair. Chiron was right, I was covered in god knows what. I handed the towel to one of the assistants who took it and walked away. I try and pull in my aura but I am pissed and I need to see my little copper flame. I follow Chiron and Dad to the private floor of the hospital. This is where all the ranked members are taken and where the alpha and Luna rooms are. Ino, Kekipi, and Muaku were standing outside the door as I walked up. I let then know we will be having a discussion about what happened, but right now I need to see Kodi. I walked into the room and there she was laying on her side sleeping.

“Her wound has already healed. Our Luna used a shit ton of power during the fight. She has been asleep since and I don’t expect her to wake up anytime soon. She is fine Reign just exhausted. Ask your Dad, Tayhill and Raef what happened.” Chiron told me.

I nod at him as I walk over to her. I carefully sat down beside her as I heard the door to her room closed. I ran a finger along her cheek smiling when she turned her face towards me. I was surprised when her eyes opened. I could tell she wasn’t fully awake but it did make me feel better to see those gorgeous eyes of hers.

“Reign.” She whispered.

“Hush my little copper flame. I am here and everything is okay. No one was killed a few were injured but you did well my little copper flame. Their kick ass Luna protected the pack.” I told her.

“Can I go home?” She mumbles.

Before I can answer she is asleep again. I stand up, lean down and kiss her before walking out of her room. I find Dad and Chiron there and tell them that she briefly woke up. I do ask about her going back to the pack house. Chiron says that there isn’t a reason to keep her here. He starts the paperwork to discharge her. I hurry to the pack house and grab some clothes for her. As Chiron finishes the paperwork I change her into the clothes I brought. As I finished Dad walked in. He grabs her shit as I picked her up. She snuggles into me bury her face in my neck. Blade has calmed down now that we have seen her and have her in our arms again. The pack house is quiet as we walked in. I lay her down in our bed covering her up watching as she burrowed into the bedding.

“Okay what the fuck happened?” I asked.

“Everything was fine while both of you were gone. We had no idea Kodi had even returned as Mauku and I went to check out some strange sightings on the south east border. We had just gotten to the spot when we heard the first howls. Mauku linked a few people and they said that rogues were heading to the pack house.” Dad explained.

“We couldn’t figure out why they would target the pack house until Tayhill said that Kodi had just ripped a rogue apart that was attacking him. That is when the fucking forest came alive and it got dark with smoke rolling through the forest.” Mauku comments.

“You think they were after Kodi?” I asked.

“I think they had someone watching her when she was on O’Ahu and that is how they knew when to attack. They needed us out of the way so they could take her, but they didn’t know that she was as powerful as she is. Raef said that a couple of the rogues thought that she was human and that is when she released her powers on to them.” Ino answers.

They tell me how Myra and two others protected the pack house while Kodi went out and helped with the rogues. I damn near lost my shit when I heard that she dropped into the water.

“I pulled her out. Water re-energises her so she went back there to restore her energy, but she had used too much for the water to fix. Even though she has very little mermaid in her, she does have enough to breathe underwater. She wasn't in danger of drowning.” Duncan told me.

That made me fell slightly better but I don’t like the idea of someone watching her. I cut the discussion short when I feel her confusion through our bond. I hurry back to our room where I find her sitting up in bed.

“Where..?” She asks.

“You are in our room my little copper flame.” I told her.

I sat down by her as she lean onto me. I wrap my arm around her as she pushes me to lay back down. As she gets comfortable. I link the guys tell letting them know that I am going to stay with her the rest of the day. Dad says that they will handle whatever happens.

“Reign.” She says.

“Sleep baby, I am not going anywhere. I will have food brought up to us later when you are more awake.” I told her.

She hums in response as her eyes close. I do link the guys about the rogues. They let me know that there are a few in the dungeon and that they will stay there till I am ready to speak with them. I let Ino know that will be few days. I look down to find her asleep. I kiss her head as I turn over and pull her against me. I will find out who the fuck is responsible for this.
