Chapter 32 - A Journey Through Memory Lane
Kodi
I wasn’t sure what do to when the door opened. I stood there watching as Chiron and Uncle Aaron helped who I am guessing is my Dad lay who I am guessing is my mother down on a bed. She is clearly in pain and from the looks of it I would say that I am about to be born. Uncle Aaron left the room as Dad and Chiron got Mom situated on the bed. I didn’t see my brothers anywhere, but I kind of figured that my parents wouldn’t want them in the room when Mom is getting ready to push me out of her body.
“Why is this taking so long and why is it so damn painful for her? She wasn’t even in this much pain when she had the twins.” Dad hissed.
“I don’t know. It must have something to do with the baby.” Chiron grumbles.
After I don’t know how long there I am. Chiron lays me down on Mom’s chest. I have a full head of my copper hair and my fire coloured eyes are glowing brightly. They are all staring at me like I am some sort of godly being.
“Shit, this is why the birth was so rough. I can’t believe I have a little princess.” Dad whispers.
“Yes, honey you got your wish, but we have to protect her. She is unbelievably powerful and everyone will want her.” Mom pointed out.
I watch as both of my parents place a glamour on me. I wasn’t surprised since this is what Uncle Aaron told us had happened that night. I am not sure how I am remembering this since I was literally just born. The scene starts to fade as I am whisked away into another memory. I am older in this memory around eight months or so. I am already walking and I can say a few words. Rory and Vance are in this memory. They look to be seven or eight years old. They are sitting across from me trying to gain my attention.
“Come on Kodi, boys shouldn’t want to play with dolls.” Vance comments.
I want to be mad at that comment, but then I remember that the glamour my parents placed on me made me look like a boy. So they think they have a little brother. I am ignoring them as I walk around with my doll. A woman is there with us. I guess she must be the nanny that Rory and Vance told us about a few months ago. The three of us looked happy sitting there. Our nanny was smiling at us until the door opened and a woman walked in. There was something about her that rubbed me the wrong way. I could see our nanny talking to the woman but I couldn’t hear their conversation. I have no idea why I was unable to hear what they were talking about, but I since my brothers weren’t paying attention to them they must have been speaking where only they could hear each other. Our nanny was getting mad and I could tell their discussion was getting heated until the door opened again and in walked my parents. I smiled as I watched myself let out a scream as I jumped into my Dad’s arms. It looks like I was a daddy’s girl. My mother was tearing into the strange woman who stormed out of the room. Again the room around me faded as I was thrown into another memory.
This one I did recognise. I was in Uncle Randy’s house and Uncle Aaron and Nay were also there. It must have been the morning after Dad left me with Uncle Randy. I was eating pancakes as they were talking about something. My memories went on like this for a while. They all seemed to be good as I watched myself grow up with Uncle Randy. I watched as we moved from Texas to Oregon and then to California. I closed my eyes because I knew what memory was going to present itself soon. That is one that I could live without reliving. I felt myself start to shake but then I felt the sparks flow down my back.
-It’s okay my little copper flame. I am right here and I won’t let anything hurt you.- Reign
-How are you able to speak to me?- Me
-Our bond, I can’t be physically in the memory with you but I can talk you through shit when things get hard. Everyone is watching as you travel through you lost memories. Your grandfather will explain once everything is over.- Reign
-I don’t want to remember anything more. I already lived through them once and that was more than enough.- Me
-I know but I believe in order to figure why your memories were suppressed you need to see them again. I am sorry my little copper flame.- Reign
I felt his hand slip into mine as I woke Uncle Randy up letting him know that there is smoke in the house. He jumps out of bed and shoves me back into my room telling me to pack. I am sobbing telling him that I don’t want to go, but he tells me that I need to and that I need to go to the flower. As I sneak out the back there are several people standing outside the house watching it go up in fucking flames. I make eye contact with one of them and I hear growling and a few swear words from others in the room. I watch as my eyes close and then I am gone and the world slowly starts to return to normal. I groan as I open my eyes. Mine lock with Larimar blue eyes that I love.
“Welcome back my little copper flame.” Reign drawls.
“Hey.” I mumble.
I slowly sat up grasping my head. Grandmother tells me to suck on one of those candies she gave me. I pop it into my mouth and after a little while it does help with getting rid of the head ache. I lean against Reign who kisses the top of my head. I can still feel myself shaking, but soon there is a knock on the door. One of the omegas places a tray with food and some hot tea down in front of me.
“I figured you could use something to eat after that journey.” Reign states.
“Thank you.” I whisper.
I take a few bites of food as Uncle Aaron asked what the hell just happened. Myra starts to explain while Grandfather explains that he is able to project memories and dreams for others to see. Damn that is a sick power. Wish I could do shit like that. I keep eating as they explain more.
Rory
Fuck I forgot my grandfather could do shit like that. Most of what Kodi remembered I did to. I looked at Vance and I knew he remembered most of it as well. I have no idea who the women was that walked into the room that day, but I am damn sure my grandparents did. I knew that Mom and Dad did since they were both giving her a look that could kill. I wasn’t sure how to react when I watched Dad pop up at Uncle Randy’s house not to long after Mom had died. I had a hard time watching those few memories. I am not sure how Kodi was able to remember that since she was barely a year old when all this shit happened. It was very weird to watch the glamour fade when Dad finally passed away. It was eerie watching the sight of my younger brother fade to that of Kodi. Damn she was a cute little girl. I understand why Mom and Dad didn’t tell us about her, but I still feel very lied to.
“How is she able to remember this when she was barely a year old?” I asked.
“Fey have a way of storing memories in our minds, so she didn’t exactly remember it was more like a previously recorded movie.” Grandmother explained.
“I guess that makes sense.” I comment.
Kodi was eating what Reign had one of the omega’s bring up. I could tell that seeing all that bothered her especially when the memories came to ones that she had lived through not so long ago. I felt bad for her to have to go through that again. Reign had his arm around her as she sat there drinking her tea. I am sure grandmother had put something in it to help calm her down and it was working. I could tell she wanted to sleep but she was terrified to.
“Please tell me she won’t have anymore nightmares now that this was done.” Reign growled.
“Yes, now that her memories have been released the nightmares and head aches should stop. I can’t say some won’t pop up here and there, but now that the spell that was keeping the suppressed has been removed they should stop.” Myra told him.
“Okay so I am guessing that you two know who some of those people were.” I comment.
“Yes, the woman that walked into the room that your three were in that room. Her name is, Ohphelyisa. She is my oldest brother’s daughter. She is also not trusted within the family. She wasn’t even supposed to be in the castle and I have no idea how she got in and into that room. Your parents were pissed when they walked in to find her there. She was not seen after that. We speculate that she was working with Zenos. However, her body was found a year after Kodi went missing. Or that is what we thought. The night of the fire at Randy’s house she was one of the people standing outside right before Kodi left.” Grandmother explained.
“One of the guys looked familiar, but I can’t place where I have seen him.” Reign added.
“I thought the same thing. One of the vampires watched me the whole time we were there. He never did anything, but I could feel his eyes on me damn near all the time.” Kodi admitted.
That caught everyone’s attention. I could tell Reign had no idea about this. Kodi told us that she didn’t feel like causing a scene and that the guy just stared but never tried to approach her. I doubt he could have with Reign there. There is no way Reign would have let her out of his sight in a unfamiliar place. One of the guys standing outside the house looked familiar to me as well.
[Does the one with the dark curly hair look familiar to you?- Me]
[Yeah, but there is something different about him. I can’t place it, but I know I have seen him somewhere before. The chick with the bright purple hair looks familiar to.-Vance]
[I was thinking the same thing. We need to pull out some of our albums and school year books when we get home.-Me]
[I am going to text Calder and see if he can get a hold of Jaxsyn’s year books to. I think he might have been a few years older than us.-Vance]
I asked about any vampires with dark curly hair but Kodi said no. She said that one that she thought looked familiar had long curly pale blond hair with reddish green eyes. That didn’t sound like anyone I knew nor anyone Vane knew. Something wasn’t adding up and I didn’t like it. The fact that he watched our little sister as she walked around bothered me to no end. I will be talking with Eli about this guy. Eli, Vance, and I have been friends for years and I don’t remember anyone there that looked like that. His eyes alone would be unique and more or less unforgettable. Someone is lying or hiding their identity from everyone and I want to know why.
