The Missing Princess

Chapter 13 - Spells & Fern

Reign

It took Ranu two days to build Uahi his new bat cave on our balcony. I am not sure when it happened or who is responsible, but now there is a name plate that says “UAHI: ATTACK BAT” attached to the damn thing and at night some smart ass flashes a light with the damn bat symbol in the sky over our fucking balcony along with a sign posted in front of the pack house that says “BEWARE OF BAT”. It was funny the first time, but I am over it. Introducing Uahi to the regular night patrols went better than I thought and it turns out that he is a damn good watch bat. Yes, I said watch bat, I mean I can’t say watch dog since he isn’t a dog. I swear everyone in this damn pack has turned into a fucking comedian since Uahi was brought here. I was worried that the other familiars wouldn’t get along with the giant nocturnal bat, but so far everyone has gotten along. The door to my office here at the pack house slams against the wall as Rory and Vance come strutting in.

“What the actual fuck? Why the hell are the two of you here and who is he? You have your own damn kingdom to run.” I growl.

“Sorry about the door. We are here for our Queen.” Vance answered.

“Your Queen, my little sister, is at the beach with my little copper flame and Ellie. I believe Kekipi and Mauku went with them since it is way to fucking early for the two of you to be here and prime time for surfing. I believe they are going to do some shopping afterwards which I can promise you Kekipi and Mauku aren’t going to be happy about. The girls want to find dresses for Kodi since I am taking her on a date tonight and getting that girl into anything that isn’t shorts and either a tank top or t-shirt is like trying to keep a wolf from shifting.” I comment.

“Heads up, your little sister wants nothing to do with the fae court. I tried to talk about it with her last night and her words were: Those prissy fucking fae can shove their proper manners and frilly clothes up their asses. She might be the missing princess, but she wants nothing to do with that life.” I added.

I would love to say I was surprised when the three of them start hysterically laughing, but I am not. I still have no idea who the guy that came with them is. I lean back crossing my arms over my chest and wait for the hyena triplets to stop fucking laughing. Ino and Dad walk in while they are still doubled over laughing. Dad rolls his eyes, since he knows how the twins can be as he sat down in the chair on the left side of my desk. Ino sat down across from Dad as we waited for the hyena triplets to get a fucking grip.

“Are the three of you fucking hyenas finished yet?” I asked.

“Sorry, and yes we are. I am not surprised that Kodi said something like that and we never expected her to want to be part of the fae court.” Vance gasps.

“I would love to see their expressions when she tells them were to shove their proper manners and frilly clothes. I will enlighten her that we no longer wear those ancient clothes. Thankfully the court has kept up with the times and doesn’t act like they like in the fucking 1600’s.” Rory states.

“This is Calder and he is our best friend. I guess he would be the same as Ino in our world. He is the only one who knows about Kodi. We did speak with our grandparents and they still think that we have a younger brother.” Vance told us.

“You sure about that?” Ino asked.

“Yes, I can tell when someone is lying and they weren’t.” Calder answered.

I am not sure how I feel about that. I don’t know this guy from a whole in the fucking ground, but I do trust Rory and Vance, so I guess until proven otherwise I will trust him. The fact that their grandparents didn’t know about Kodi is strange. I guess Estella and Jasper wanted it that way. All we have told the pack so far is that Kodi is my mate and their Luna and that she is a hybrid witch/fae. We haven’t said anything about her being the missing princess. I hate partially lying to the pack, but I feel as if there might be someone that would run their mouth about her. We discussed, and yes Kodi was involved in the discussion. We agreed that we would tell the pack, but not right now.

“Oh, seriously, what the fuck are the two of you doing back here this damn quickly?” Kodi asked.

“Well hello to you little sister.” Rory deadpanned.

“We would also like to how the fuck you are so fast. You explained how you used that spell, but your speed and glowing eyes are neither a fae or witch/warlock thing.” Vance explained.

Kodi rolls her eyes and walks over to me. I smirk when she plops her tight little ass onto my lap. I have been wondering that as well, and I can see that she is trying to figure out how to explain this. As she starts to explain I can hear Dani and Ellie drawing closer to my office when Calder sits up in his chair. His head whips around when they walk in. Ellie stops dead in her tracks when her eyes lock with his. Then the last thing that I expected to happen does, Ellie turns tail and bolts out of the room.

“What the hell was that about?” Ino asked.

“I don’t know. Dani do you have any idea what is going on?” I asked.

“No, I have no idea why she ran. Let me go see what is going on.” Dani replied.

Dani leans down kissing both Rory and Vance on the cheek before following Ellie out. I have never seen Ellie act like this before. She is usually calm and probably one of the most laid back people I know. Rory grabs Calder when he looks like he is going to jump off and take off after them. I tell everyone to sit down and I link Dani to bring Ellie back here when she finds her.

Ellie

I knew I shouldn’t have run, but I sure as hell wasn’t going to stand there and listen as he rejects me as well. One rejection was more than enough. I should be thankful that the last rejection happened while I was still 17. I hadn’t gotten my wolf or shifted for the first time yet. I don’t think he knew I hadn’t turned 18 yet, and honestly I am surprised it worked. He came back and tried to take back his rejection three months later when the girl he was with found her fated mate and left him high and dry.

He couldn’t understand why our bond wasn’t there any longer and I wasn’t going to tell him that when he rejected me and when I accepted it I was 17. He didn’t deserve the truth. He kept coming around until the end of the year then I no longer saw him. I guess he finally gave up. I guess starting college a little young had its perks. I didn’t bother going back to my room since I knew that if anyone was looking for me that would be the first place they looked. Alpha Aaron had let me move into the pack house when I was 13 because Dani wanted her best friend close to her. My father had been one of the packs best warriors and he thought living in the pack house would be good for me.

“Hey what was that all about?” Dani asked.

“Nothing, I just needed some fresh air.” I replied.

“Bullshit, you ran like someone lit your ass on fire.” Dani hisses.

“Fine I guess everyone deserves to know. Come on lets go back to Reign’s office and I will tell my story.” I told her.

I look at the floor. I never thought this would happen. I know some wolves are granted second chance mates, but I didn’t think this would happen to me. Not that it will make any difference. The first rejection didn’t hurt, but I know this one is going to destroy me. As we get closer to Reign’s office my steps begin to falter. I can feel Dani’s eyes on me and I know she is worried. I never told her what happened because I didn’t think it was that important since it didn’t effect me. Although I guess in a way it did effect me just not like it effected him. I stop once I am inside the office. Dani grabs my hand and pulls me to sit by her. I can’t look at anyone because I know if I do I will start crying.

“Ellie what is going on?” Nay asked.

“Dani and I had been at college for about a month and as we all know I was still 17 at the time. I had run into this guy and felt a pull towards him, but didn’t think anything of it. He was handsome, but I had seen several handsome guys at college.” I say.

I hear a low growl from my left and I am guessing that it must be that guy with Vance and Rory. I still don’t know his name and I don’t want to, but I know I will learn his name when I am forced to accept his rejection.

“It turns out he was my mate, but since I was 17 and hadn’t shifted yet I had no idea. His name was Eros. He rejected me right then and there and I accepted. He had a girlfriend that he wanted to take as his chosen mate and I was just a road block in his way. I watched as he dropped to his knees when I accepted. He came back after I had turned 18 and wanted to take back his rejection. His girlfriend had found her fated mate and chose him over Eros. It was to late. He tried to take his rejection back, but it was like our bond never existed. He couldn’t understand why. I didn’t think he deserved to know that I was only 17 at the time and couldn’t feel our bond.” I added.

No one says anything for a while. I look at Alpha Aaron and then to Kodi who looks both ready to cry and to rip someone apart. Reign is pissed, but I can tell he is trying to keep himself from blowing up, and to keep Kodi from jumping up and hunting Eros down. Nay has her arms wrapped around me. It is weird talking about it actually make me feel better. I am surprised when I don’t feel like crying.

“Ow what the fuck was that for?” The guy hisses.

“If you even think of pulling what that fucker did I will fucking castrate you and feed your balls to you on a fucking iron platter.” Kodi growls.

“I am not going to reject her. She is mine and that fucker was an asshole and doesn’t deserve her.” The guy replied.

My head snaps up when he says this and I find myself staring into the most alluring green-blue eyes I have ever seen. They remind me of turquoise, which happens to be my favourite gem stone. I giggle when I watch Reign take something out of Kodi’s hand. Looks like she was going to throw something else at him.

“If you could refrain from threatening our beta we would appreciate it.” Rory states.

“Then you beta better not hurt my friend, because if he does you will need to find a new fucking beta.” Kodi hisses.

I watch as the guy kneels in front of me. I can barely breath as his hand raises and touches the side of my face. I gasp when the sparks course through my body. It is taking everything in me not to run out of the room.

“My name is Calder, and I would love to know your name my little mate.” Calder says.

“My name is Ellie.” I whisper.

“That is a beautiful name.” Calder states with a smile.

He sits down by me as Rory and Vance turn their attention back to Kodi who rolls her eyes at them. They may have not grown up together or been around each other long, but they do act like all the other siblings that I have been around.

Kodi

“What?” I asked.

“Explain what happened when you performed that damn spell.” Vance says.

“Fine, as I said the book I found is had the original spell in it. Yes, I know that it has been rewritten over the years which is why I believe it has been messed up. The spell requires two ingredients. One being the blood of a human and the other being the blood of a powerful witch or warlock which is not in any of the books that I can find nowadays.” I told them.

“My friend and the proofreader of my books, Fern, gave me a small sample of his blood. He is human, well that is what I thought, but he is aware of the supernatural. His mother is the human mate of an angel who found her when Fern was 10.” I added.

“Wait his name is Fern?” Rory asked.

“Yes, and if you even think of making fun of him you will join your beta in eating your balls. Fern is short for Fernando, but he hates that name. His favourite plants are ferns so he decided that would be his nickname. I used his blood for the spell. Yes, I noticed within the first week that my speed and reflexes had been weirdly enhanced. I looked into Fern’s family tree.” I explained.

“And what did you find my little copper flame.” Reign rumbles in my ear.

I hear my brothers fake gag and I know I didn’t hide the shiver his damn voice cause when he said that in my ear. The bastard knew what he was doing and he knows what that does to me. We hadn’t done much more than heavy make out sessions, but still.

“Fern’s great grandfather was a vampire and not just any vampire, but the brother to the king at the time. His grandmother was half vampire while his grandfather was human. Both of his parents are human. I have no idea if his mother knows about her grandmother being half vampire or his great grandfather being the brother to the vampire king at the time. I in a very round about way asked Fern if anyone in his family was a supernatural, but he was adamant that none were. I don’t think they know.” I explained.

“Well that explains everything then. I do remember grandmother telling me that the vampire king’s brother had found his mate but their parents didn’t approve. It was said that she disappeared and was never seen again.” Rory remarks.

She didn’t disappear. I bet the vampire kings father threatened her and told her to get lost. She more than likely washed her hands of the our world and once she died all the knowledge was lost. I smile when I see Ellie smiling as Calder tells her something. I am happy for them, but I hate the fact that they are going to leave. I laugh when Vance throws Dani over his shoulder telling her to lead him to her room so they could get her shit. Stupid older brothers.
