Chapter 73
Ka
Ka and Josh were running, entering and leaving portals. Ka knew he was Josh’s burden and he knew he would have to let him go. Ka couldn’t shoot, he couldn’t tell ally from enemy. There were grey wolf snouted folk on both sides, though the green guys appeared to be on their side.
Ka tried to shoot at anyone fighting a green guy but they were too fast, particularly the engulfing women.
Suddenly, Ka felt a strange attraction across the battlefield, not dissimilar to being drawn to Maya in the canyon, only it wasn’t her he felt.
He froze just a moment too long and his friend was gone. Alone, he continued firing until Josh returned and grabbed him.
“I need to get to my mirror!” Ka shouted at him over the roar of battle, losing bits as they wove around the battlefield through Josh’s portals.
Josh immediately deposited him beside Ke, who shot him in the arm.
“Shit!” shouted Ka as Ke looked horror struck. There was nothing to do, no hospital to go to, they just had to continue firing. They stood back to back and fired at anyone that pointed a weapon at them until the strangest thing happened. They became one just like they did in the astral plane.
