Chapter 33

Chapter 33

After warning his friend, Leonard walked away with large strides. Lucas touched his nose with a playful smile on his face.

When Lisa returned upstairs after finishing breakfast, she received a phone call from her sister. sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ FindNøvᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“Leslie?”

“Lisa, we’re having a meal with Chris’s family at Villagio Center. It’s almost like a formal meeting between our families. You

should come along too.”

Lisa was surprised. “Really? Did your mom and Sebastian agree to meet with his family? Weren’t they strongly against it?”

There was a momentary silence on the other end before Leslie reluctantly spoke, “Chris offered Dad a two million dollar dowry and also introduced my mom to a business project.”

That surprised Lisa. “I didn’t expect your husband to be so wealthy.”

“Yes, I found out about it a few days ago. Chris’s father is a university dean, and his mother is a well-established professor,” Leslie explained with a faint smile.

“I see. A family like that must have a good social network in Queenston.” Lisa hesitated. “However, about me attending the meal, wouldn’t it be inappropriate? Your mom has never liked me.”

“His family knows I have you as a stepsister, so Chris specifically told me to invite you,” Leslie said smilingly, “Besides, this is a significant event in my life. Of course, I want you to be a part of it. Don’t worry. I spoke to my mom. She won’t make things difficult for you if I’m there.”

“All right then, come to the entrance to pick me up. This place doesn’t even have cabs, so it’s inconvenient for me to go out,” Lisa said.

An hour and a half later, Leslie sent a message saying she was nearby, so Lisa went outside.

Leslie parked her white Mercedes at the entrance. When Lisa got in, she quickly said, “Let’s go. The guard is watching us. Don’t let him see that you’re the real Jones family heiress.”

“Let him look. He’s never seen me before, anyway.” Leslie smiled. “If anyone from the Parker family sees me, just say I’m your friend or stepsister.”

“Forget it. You’re more anxious about this than I am,” Lisa remarked, but Leslie swiftly pinched Lisa’s waist.

“Leslie, I’m sorry! Focus on driving.” Lisa shrank and begged for mercy.

Leslie stopped teasing her. “This place is remote. If you plan to live here, I think you should buy a car as soon as possible. You have money, right?”

“I want to buy a house.”!

“You can get a nice house with a little over two million dollars.” Leslie understood her stepsister’s preferences and added, “If you’re hesitant to buy an expensive one, you can find a decent car for around a hundred thousand.”

“All right, come with me to look at cars later.”

Leslie hesitated and said, “Chris is returning to the university this afternoon, and I have to take Chelsea to her dance class. I’m

afraid I won’t have time.”

Seeing her elder stepsister embrace the role of a full-time stepmom, Lisa could not help but sigh. Upon arriving at Villagio Center, Leslie parked the car, and they both stepped out.

Soon, a Porsche pulled up next to them.

Josephine stepped out of the car, exuding a boss-lady demeanor. Despite being middle-aged, she looked like she were in her thirties when dressed up. She and Leslie did not look like mother and daughter when they stood side by side-instead, they resembled sisters.

Lisa could not help but think of her birth mother, Isabella. Isabella was two years younger than Josephine, but her time spent on household chores like laundry, cooking, and cleaning made her appear older than Josephine.

Josephine removed her sunglasses and glanced at Lisa, remarking, “You look more and more like your mother whenever I see you. You have that cu nning fox-like face.”
