Chapter 68
What just happened? Today just seems to be getting better and better.
Well, at least he’s coming over.
I know.
I sit there staring at our seating arrangement when the footsteps make me lookup. Andrew comes into view and he looks exhausted as if his baby kept him up all night.
“What happened?” I ask.
“Her emotions take a toll on both of us. She is asleep at the moment.” He sighs in relief and I sigh with him I feel my friend’s pain.
“Is she okay?”
“Yes,” he sits on the loveseat’s armrest and drapes his body over me resting his head on top of mine.
“Andrew, you need your sleep,” I probe him hoping that he listens to me.
“I know, but I don’t think I’m sleeping for the next eighteen years. She’s having triplets you know,” my eyes go up to him.
Wow, triplets!
“How do you...” Angie has not said anything.
“I can hear their heartbeats. I know for sure on is going to drive me up the wall.”
I want to laugh at his remark but the look on his face tells me he is being serious.
“How?”
“Its heartbeat is much faster than the other two and it seems to be the one that moves the most.”
Wow.
“I’m so happy for you,” I am genuinely happy for him to start his family.
“Thanks,” he sighs and stays relaxed on top of me
We sit there in silence. I missed my best friend. He has been so busy with his mate that I hardly get to spend time with him, we just handle business.
“Let’s go for a run, I need it,” Andrew looks down at me and there is a gleam in them showing me that he would love that.
Without another word, we run to the door and Andrew beats me to it. He runs down the steps and shifts on the ground. I run off the top step and jump into the air shifting into my wolf before my feet hit the ground.
He shakes his head.
Show off!
I know.
We run into the trees and my wolf is elated. We run so fast that the trees start blurring past us.
Andrew’s chocolate brown wolf howls happily into the air and I cannot help but see the change of energy just because he shifted. I as well feel energized and stress-free.
I missed this.
Me too, he agrees.
We run as far as our feet can carry us and the time seems limitless as if there is nothing on this earth but me and my wolf.
She’s awake.
Let’s head back, Hunter should be arriving soon.
We run back to the packhouse and I sense that he has not arrived.
We shift and I clear my throat.
“Andrew,” he is about to run upstairs but he turns to look at me. “Do you know if Hunter is having a bachelor party?”
He gives me a wicked smile and I frown, “he shot down that idea the second Ken suggested it. Hunter said he rather spend his last night as a bachelor with you.”
Really!
He nods. I wave him off and he runs into the house. I walk in and head upstairs and change.
My bedroom has changed a lot since I have met Hunter. My walls are covered with pictures of Hunter, Andrew, Ken, and Angie.
The first time we went sledding. Andrew caught the moment I threw a snowball at Hunter and it connected with his face. There is a picture where Ken uses me as a human shield as we are bombarded with snowballs.
My eyes move around and there is one where it is just Hunter and me out in the forest and he kisses my cheek our eyes are closed and I can see the blush on my cheeks.
Another one holds the moment that I felt Angie’s pups kick for the first time. It is her bulging stomach and my hand running over her stomach my eyes are wide as I feel the thumping from inside of her.
Mathew appears in one of them as he hugs me. He came down to my land a few weeks after the Moonlight Ball.
The picture next to that one is of Andrew running into a creek with me on his shoulders. There is a huge smile painted on my lips.
This past year has been a roller coaster of emotions but in the end, it has made me the person I am today.
The door opens up from behind me and I do not have to turn around to know that he is here. My body knows and I close my eyes as a smile pulls at my lips.
These past few months have been the best with this man by my side.
His breath hits the back of my neck, “What are you doing to me?” His voice is raspy and exhausted.
“I can say the same thing.” I turn to face him when his body pushes me up on the wall and his lips crash down on mine hungrily. His lips move hard against mine as a growl rumbles through him. My hands go to his hair and my fingers run through it when he bites my lip my fingers grab a fistful of hair and pull him closer.
“You’re driving me crazy,” he mumbles with my lip still in between his teeth.
“Hmm...” My mind turns to jelly as he releases my lip and his nose skims my jawline and moves down to my neck. His lips skim my mark sending a shiver through my body. When he kisses it I feel as if my body might collapse to the ground.
There no words to describe this feeling.
Hunter breathes me in and then sighs. “Do you know what I’ve been through this whole time?”
“No.” His hands go to the back of my thighs and he lifts me. I scream as my stomach rests on his shoulder and he carries me around the room.
“For starters, I haven’t been able to sleep because you invade my mind and I can feel your ache as well.”
“Me too!” His sadness only intensifies mine.
“Second of all,” he spins me around earning a laugh, “I am in a meeting with my pack when suddenly I feel this overwhelming distress but I don’t sense any danger.”
Oh.
“When I am about to talk to my beta I am at the verge of tears with this unknown sadness that is filling my love,” he has had the mark longer than me so he is more attuned to it than me. He can feel my emotions better than I can feel his.
“I’m sorry,” he puts me down on the bed.
“Mel, talk to me what’s going on?” He jumps on top of me and holds himself up.
“Angie is making me hormonal I guess.” I shrug and he shakes his head.
“Woman can’t live with them, can’t live without them,” I smack his chest.
“Jerk!”
“Am I?” I nod. “I’m your jerk.” He presses his nose against mine.
“That you are,” I giggle and he rolls to his side and pulls me to his side. “Guess what?”
“What?” He settles himself well on my bed resting his arm behind his head as the other one is wrapped around me, my hand rests on his chest.
“I’m thinking about having a bachelorette party.” I smile at him as his eyebrows pull together and a rumble vibrates under my hand.
“Are you now?” He growls at me and I want to laugh.
“Yeah, you know my last hoorah before marriage and all.” I want to see what he says. “Aren’t you having one?”
“No, I’m not.” He states in a matter of fact tone.
“Oh, I thought you were,” I shrug nonchalantly.
“Mel, I don’t know how I feel about a male rubbing himself all over you,” he whispers.
“Fine, I won’t. Now, what am I supposed to do with all my dollar bills?” I sigh exasperatedly.
“You want a show?” He looks down at me and a wicked smile appears on his lips and I nod.
“Of course,” I giggle.
“I can give you a show.”
There is a gleam in his eyes that makes me push away from him in surprise.
“What?”
My wolf wakens suddenly interested.
What’s this I hear?
Hunter rolls off the bed and stands up straight.
“You want a show I can give you a show,” he smirks at me.
My cheeks blaze as Hunter stands before me and his hands start going to the buttons of his shirt. He unbuttons the top three buttons and my hands fly to my cheeks feeling their warmth.
“My God, I was kidding Hunter,” I say as he moves down his shirt. I have seen him naked but he has never undressed for me.
I scream in embarrassment, “Stop!” I squeal as my hands cover my eyes.
“What? You said you wanted a show,” my bed lowers as Hunter gets back on it.
“I was kidding,” I laugh and shake my head. Hunter pulls my hands away from my face and pecks my lips gently.
I have not been so embarrassed since Hunter and I had ‘the talk’ right after the Moonlight Ball. My curiosity got the best of me and I asked him if he was pure.
He told me that he was not. He met someone before Haley and me of course. He said he wished he would have waited but what is done is done and he cannot change the past. When he asked me I felt weird telling him I was still a virgin.
To my surprise he was ecstatic. He assumed like everyone else that I had at least been with Marcus. We agreed that I would save myself for marriage.
This little pact has been driving us crazy since both our wolves are marked they want to finish the mating process.
“I can’t believe it.”
“What?”
“In less than a week you’re going to be Mrs. Hunter. I like the ring of that.” He lays down on my bed and he pulls me closer to him.
“It does have a good ring to it,” I agree, “but how about Mr. Blake?” His eyes widen, I do not have to read his mind to know what he is thinking.
You are dropping this bomb on me now.
“I’m kidding I like Hunter as my name.” I do.
“Come let’s get some sleep, I always have the best sleep when you’re in my arms.” He changes the subject fast perhaps he is scared I would consider it.
“As do I,” my cheek rests on his chest as I take a deep breath inhaling his scent as my vision blurs, I am exhausted and he is my best sleep remedy.
