Chapter The Gifts and New Companions
When the next day came, all the dwarves were saying their goodbyes while Cumba and Torbo follow Peter and Raine to the bottom of the mountain, as they have some travel packs on. Filly was at the bottom of the mountain, waiting for Peter and Raine. Once they got to the bottom, Filly had some gifts waiting for them. They stopped and look at the gifts that Filly has out for them. One is a shield with a dragon and a sword with a dragon head, the other one is a staff with a green stone ball on the tip. Filly smiles at them while having his hands out to show them the gifts.
“My friends! These gifts are for you!” Filly told them, while picking up the staff first before facing Raine. “Raine, I know you have incredible magic, so this staff will help you on this voyage.” He handed the staff to Raine as she took it with care.
“Thank you Filly, this is a very kind gift.” Said Raine while she looked at the staff.
“Now Peter!” Filly looks at Peter while Peter looks at Filly. “Long time ago someone made our world and was the true king, but he’s gone for a long time, almost about 300 years ago.” Filly pulled out the sword and shield and handed it over to Peter while Peter took them and looked at them. “This sword and shield will come in handy if you are in any danger.”
“Thank you, sir, but why give them to me why I already have a sword of my own from the elves?” Peter asked as Filly laughed.
“Because they might come in handy someday! You can keep the elf’s sword and have this sword. Now no more asking questions or talking. You two must get going.” Filly told them while Cumba and Torbo stopped Peter and Raine.
“Hold on, you two!” Torbo called out while Peter and Raine turn and look at both Cumba and Torbo. “Mind if we tag along till we pass the lands of shadow, then we will go our separate ways?”
“Sure we don’t mind Torbo.” Raine told him while he smiled and nodded his head to her.
“Thank you Raine.” Said Torbo. Now the four of them head off while Filly watches them leaving as he was waving his hands in a goodbye manner. Raine and Torbo were leading the way while Peter and Cumba stayed in the back, talking to each other. Cumba told Peter more about dwarves and other stuff the dwarves do for living like hunting, mining, going on quests, love to drink a lot of pints and other things. Then Cumba asked Peter what his world is like and Peter told about the world that he was born in. He told Cumba (Raine and Torbo to listen to the conversation) about taxes, a bit of history of wars, the presidents, and other things, but he mostly talks about the mystery of the house he now owns. Once he had finished telling about his world a bit, the three were thinking about the house that Peter was talking about that where he found the door in.
“Say, did the house have a funny feeling?” Cumba asked while Peter shook his head.
“No, not that I know of, but when I touch the door, I feel some kind of strange feeling run through my veins.” Said Peter while Cumba slowly nodded.
“I see, I see…” Cumba said softly while thinking about what Peter had just told him.
“Well, this is our stop to go separate ways.” Torbo said while they stopped and look to their left to a dark forest.Peter felt some kind of evil coming from the forest. Also, it feels like something is watching him and he is not the only one. Raine could feel the evil and can tell something is off about the forest, like something greater threat than king Draken. For Torbo and Cumba, they try not to show fear but they can feel the evil also but they could see something is way off from the forest. The forest was a normal looking forest about last week when Torbo and Cumba passed by, but this time it is darker, scarier, and most of all the scent smells like death. Raine turns and looks at the two shaken up dwarves as they are really trying not to show fear, but it’s falling miserably.
“May I ask what are you two going to do in the lands of shadows?” Raine asked them as Cumba coughed and looked at Raine.
“A quest.” Said Cumba with a small, shaky voice.
“The animals that used to live here suddenly disappear or found lying around on the ground.” Torbo told Raine while Raine did a nod and looked at the forest, then back on the road.Raine knows she needs to get to the queen, but if she left her two friends out on their own, something bad might happen. Peter could tell Raine wanted to stay and help the two dwarves and he wanted to help them also, so he stepped up in front of them and looked at them while they looked back at him.
“Do you mind if Raine and I join you?” Peter asked with a strong firm voice that shows confidence and no fear and Raine smiled at him.
“Yes, do you mind for us two to join you on this quest?” Raine asked while the two looked at each other and did a nod, then looked back at Raine and Peter.
“Yes, you can join us.” Both Cumba and Torbo said in a sonic voice. With them, the four head into the forest with their guard up and eyes are looking out for anything that might happen. (For Peter, he is excited that he is going on a quest with the dwarves and Raine.) They follow the pitch black path like someone painted on the path with black paint because there is black smug here and there on the corners. While they followed the path, something was lurking in the dark watching them with a low growl and red eyes glow in the darkness before turning around and walking off as the tree shook by its walk. Cumba heard that and turned around while pulling out his axe and looking around the area. But he saw nothing and turned back around and followed the rest of the group.
