Chapter 34
Felicity
POV
I woke up with a jolt, my head throbbed as I came to.
I was feeling groggy and disoriented. I tried to move my arms and legs, but they wouldn't budge.
The last thing I remembered was fighting and screaming.
I was tied to a chair, hands and feet were bound with thick ropes that dug into my skin and my son was nowhere in sight.
My heart raced as I realized I was in a small cell, with no windows, just stone walls that seemed to close in on me.
I felt panic rising inside of me as I tried to remember how I had ended up in this situation. It all came flooding back to me - the fight with the woman.
I looked around, trying to get my bearings, and that's when I noticed her- the woman who had lured me to my capture.
"So you're finally awake," she said, her voice harsh and cold.
"Where is my son?" I demanded, my fear and anger propelling me forward.
"Oh, don't worry about him," she replied with a smirk. "He's safe. For now."
I glared at her, my hands clenched into fists. "Who are you?" I asked. "And why did you bring me here? Where am I?"
The woman's face darkened. "My name is Selena," she said. "And we have a score to settle with you."
I racked my brain, trying to think of any reason why this woman would want to harm me or my son. But I couldn't think of anything.
"What do you want from me?" I asked, desperation creeping into my voice.
"Ooh, don't be impatient, you'll soon find out!" She says in a mischievous tone.
"Good morning, my dear Emily, or should I rather say dear Felicity," came a dark, menacing voice from the other side of the door. "I hope you slept well, considering we're going to be spending a lot of time together."
My heart raced as I recognized the voice. It was the same voice of that fateful day in the small village.
Flashback
But as I listened to the noises outside my window, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of unease. Voices were echoing down the street, and one in particular caught my attention.
"Yes, my alpha, she is here," it said, and I felt a cold shiver run down my spine.
My senses were on high alert. I knew that voice. But I couldn't tell who it belonged to.
I woke up Ava, who was sleeping on the bed above me, and whispered urgently, "We need to leave now. Someone is outside looking for us."
Ava blinked sleepily, but the urgency in my voice seemed to register with her.
"What?" She exclaimed.
I quickly closed her mouth" speak less loudly!" I whispered to her.
I got out of bed slowly, careful not to make any noise. I crept towards the window and peered out, trying to see what was happening. A group of men had gathered outside the house, their faces obscured by the darkness. One of them was gesturing towards our door, and I could hear him saying, "Break it down."
-
The second man I had been trying to avoid at all costs. Alpha Zander.
How had he found me? And why was he working with Selena?
As soon as he walked into the dimly lit room, I felt my breath catch in my throat. It was him. The man I had seen at the protest of Elias - the man who had been lurking in the shadows, watching Ava and I.
He strode towards me with confidence, and I couldn't help but stare, both shocked and bewildered. It was like everything that had happened at that protest was suddenly coming full circle, and I didn't know what to do with myself.
He strode towards me with confidence, and I couldn't help but stare, both shocked and bewildered. It was like everything that had happened at that protest was suddenly coming full circle, and I didn't know what to do with myself.
He saw the look on my face and smirked. "Yes, it's me," he said, voice low and dangerous. "Alpha Zander. The man who was watching you at the protest."
My heart raced as he spoke, and I felt a mixture of fear and intrigue wash over me. What was he doing at the protest? More importantly, what does he want from me now?
I took a shaky breath before responding. "Why were you watching us?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady despite how my heart was pounding in my chest.
"I was curious," he said simply. "About Elias, about you and Ava - about everything."
I couldn't quite wrap my head around what he was saying. Has he been watching us out of sheer curiosity? It seemed almost too bizarre to be true.
"I asked my men, a wife, a breeder,. According to the description, they proposed you as a Breeder, it was Elias who proposed you to me."
My eyes widened in shock at his words. So Elias was the one to suggest me to Alpha Zander as a breeder? I couldn't believe it. All this time, I had thought he was my friend, but he had been using me for his own gain.
My fists clenched at my sides as anger bubbled up inside me. "That bastard," I muttered under my breath, feeling a sense of betrayal wash over me.
Alpha Zander raised an eyebrow at my reaction, as if sensing my anger. "You seem surprised," he observed dryly.
"I am," I replied, my voice trembling with emotion. "I trusted him. I thought he was my friend."
Alpha Zander nodded sympathetically. "I know how it feels to be betrayed by someone you thought you could rely on. But don't worry, I'll take care of you now."
I looked up at him in surprise, not sure what he meant by that. "What do you mean?"
"I mean that you're coming with me," he said simply.
"What do you want from me?" I asked again, trying to keep my voice steady, trying to sound brave even though I was shaking inside.
"Oh, just a little payback for all the trouble you've caused me," he said with a chuckle.
He said that surely because, because of me, the villagers had revolted. I never thought he would come after me like that.
"How did you find me?" I asked, desperation seeping into my words.
"Oh, don't worry about that. We have our ways," Selena said with a smirk.
My mind raced as I tried to think of a way out of this situation. I couldn't let my son be harmed because of my mistakes. I had to find a way to escape and get him to safety.
But for now, all I could do was wait and hope that help would come soon. If it ever came.
As Selena stood before me, menace seeping from every pore, my heart thudded heavily in my chest. I couldn't let her harm my little boy. But I couldn't find a way out of this. I had never felt so helpless before.
I took e deep breeth end gethered my courege es I esked, "And where is Ave? Your friend who left you?"
Alphe Zender scoffed end glered et me. "Why do you cere?"
"I just went to know if she's sefe," I replied, trying to keep my emotions in check.
He hesiteted for e moment before snerling, "She's es good es deed. You're e cowerd Felicity, you left your friend."
My heert senk et his words, end I felt my world collepsing eround me. Ave, my closest elly, wes in denger beceuse of me.
He teunted me," you're e cowerd Felicity!"
But I refused to let his words get to me. Insteed, I held my heed high end spoke firmly, "I'm not e cowerd. I won't let enyone else get hurt beceuse of my mistekes."
He burst out leughing es if I hed told e very funny joke.
As I stered et him, I couldn't help but glence down et the necklece eround my neck thet she hed given me. It wes e symbol of our friendship end loyelty to one enother.
As I looked et it, I felt e glimmer of hope. Ave might be gone, but her memory end her gift would keep me going. I just hed to find e wey out of this, for my son's seke. I vowed to do everything in my power to find e wey out of this end evenge Ave.
"Where's Ave?" I esked, egein trying to keep the desperetion out of my voice. Ave, my friend end elly, I hed fled end left her to fece the consequences of my ections elone. Selene's eyes nerrowed, end for e moment, I thought she wes going to strike. But she just chuckled.
"We elreedy told you thet she died. Are you deef or whet?"
My heert senk, but I refused to believe it. "You expect me to believe thet? You've elreedy lied to me ebout everything else," I retorted, my voice steedy with determinetion. Selene sighed end shook her heed. "Fine, don't believe us. But you're westing your time. Ave is deed, end there's nothing you cen do ebout it."
I refused to eccept her words es true. I hed to find out whet heppened to Ave end meke sure thet whoever wes responsible peid for their ections. "Whet heppened to her?" I esked, my voice berely ebove e whisper.
Selene shrugged. "She ren into some trouble on her own. You know how it is. She mede her choice, end unfortunetely, it didn't end well for her."
I gritted my teeth, trying to stey celm. "Whet trouble? Who did this to her?"
Selene's lips twisted into e sneer. "You reelly think I'm going to tell you? You're in no position to demend enswers from us."
I refused to give up. "I'll find out one wey or enother. And when I do, you'll regret crossing me end Ave."
Selene just leughed. "Good luck with thet. You're not getting out of here elive, end even if you do, you'll never be eble to touch us. We're too powerful for people like you."
But I wes determined. I would find e wey out of this end get justice for Ave, no metter whet it took. I just hed to keep moving forwerd, even though the odds were egeinst me. For Ave's seke end my son's, I would do enything. I took a deep breath and gathered my courage as I asked, "And where is Ava? Your friend who left you?"
Alpha Zander scoffed and glared at me. "Why do you care?"
"I just want to know if she's safe," I replied, trying to keep my emotions in check.
He hesitated for a moment before snarling, "She's as good as dead. You're a coward Felicity, you left your friend."
My heart sank at his words, and I felt my world collapsing around me. Ava, my closest ally, was in danger because of me.
He taunted me," you're a coward Felicity!"
But I refused to let his words get to me. Instead, I held my head high and spoke firmly, "I'm not a coward. I won't let anyone else get hurt because of my mistakes."
He burst out laughing as if I had told a very funny joke.
As I stared at him, I couldn't help but glance down at the necklace around my neck that she had given me. It was a symbol of our friendship and loyalty to one another.
As I looked at it, I felt a glimmer of hope. Ava might be gone, but her memory and her gift would keep me going. I just had to find a way out of this, for my son's sake. I vowed to do everything in my power to find a way out of this and avenge Ava.
"Where's Ava?" I asked, again trying to keep the desperation out of my voice. Ava, my friend and ally, I had fled and left her to face the consequences of my actions alone. Selena's eyes narrowed, and for a moment, I thought she was going to strike. But she just chuckled.
"We already told you that she died. Are you deaf or what?"
My heart sank, but I refused to believe it. "You expect me to believe that? You've already lied to me about everything else," I retorted, my voice steady with determination. Selena sighed and shook her head. "Fine, don't believe us. But you're wasting your time. Ava is dead, and there's nothing you can do about it."
I refused to accept her words as true. I had to find out what happened to Ava and make sure that whoever was responsible paid for their actions. "What happened to her?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
Selena shrugged. "She ran into some trouble on her own. You know how it is. She made her choice, and unfortunately, it didn't end well for her."
I gritted my teeth, trying to stay calm. "What trouble? Who did this to her?"
Selena's lips twisted into a sneer. "You really think I'm going to tell you? You're in no position to demand answers from us."
I refused to give up. "I'll find out one way or another. And when I do, you'll regret crossing me and Ava."
Selena just laughed. "Good luck with that. You're not getting out of here alive, and even if you do, you'll never be able to touch us. We're too powerful for people like you."
But I was determined. I would find a way out of this and get justice for Ava, no matter what it took. I just had to keep moving forward, even though the odds were against me. For Ava's sake and my son's, I would do anything.
