The Luna's Hidden Destiny

The Luna’s Hidden Destiny – Chapter 44

(Rowan)

Seeing Mila’s reaction to the lights was more satisfying than I could have ever imagined. The way she gasped and looked at me with those sparkling emerald eyes. I was ready to take her home and straight to bed right then and there. But I knew she needed this, as much as it sucked to admit, she needs more people around her. When she thanked me for showing her what it’s like to live..it practically broke my heart. I forget she never had these things and that includes friends and family. It doesn’t help how possessive Bain is being. I get it, I feel like that too but I’m trying not to be such a huge d**k about it.

‘Mate is ours, mate doesn’t leave our sight.’

He growled possessively. I think seeing her being attacked like that really f****d him up. Also considering her dad was still out there. She doesn’t know but we had a light witch come and look at their cabin…

What the witch found was beyond f****d up.

Apparently, he put a hidden spell on not only the house but on Mila as well. To hide her scent and whereabouts. She found sleeping potions and memory-erasing potions… I pray to the Goddess he didn’t use those on her. I guess the two dead rogues were used to make a couple of other things. To strengthen the house shield and the shrine…f**k that shrine.

I can’t even think what the witch told me without wanting to hit something. The witch thinks he was waiting for her eighteenth birthday..then he was going to wipe her memory and make her his mate. I broke my f*****g phone when I heard that. What type of f****d up person does that!? Even if he isn’t her biological father..he raised her like a daughter..how could he even think of doing that. I had to calm myself after hearing what the witch said because I was ready to hunt her dad down and murder him with my bare hands. I told Finn not to bring any of this up considering Mila doesn’t even know we are questioning her father’s identity. So tonight is supposed to be a fun relaxing time..if that’s even possible.

Let’s just say that’s why Bain has been pushing forward more now. He doesn’t want her out of our sight and I agree. I just don’t want her to get overwhelmed. She doesn’t seem to mind our possessiveness it’s just when I push our family away. I know that makes her feel bad and I need..no WE need to chill on that..right Bain?

‘Mine.’

He answered with a deep grumble and I fought the urge to roll my eyes.

We finally arrived at the restaurant, the place is called The Leek. It’s a pretty modern restaurant that opened up in our downtown district where we have a couple of bars and a few nightclubs. Black Stone has gotten relatively huge in the last decade. It used to be an old gold mining town but once the werewolves took it over they made it come to life. It’s a guarded city thanks to the elders and the connections we have. We made the only entrance look like a military base and that keeps most of the riffraff out. We don’t mind humans, we actually have a few that were mated into the pack and decided to transform later on. It’s just mostly rogues and other werewolves from rival packs that we keep an eye on. We have no true enemies but it’s always better to keep safe. Especially now that Mila is here. The only pack that has threatened us in the past was the B***d Eclipse pack. We just don’t agree with their ways and how they treat their omegas. They do the bare minimum that is required. Like small housing and low pay, they don’t even let them leave their lands usually which is horrible, considering most of their omegas will probably never find their mates unless they are born as an omega in that very same pack. The elders have struggled with the old Alpha for years. His name was Samuel Becket, but now that his son has taken over, Alpha Derek, he wants to meet up and show how he has changed their ways so we can join an alliance. I guess he was mated with an omega. His dad was pissed but Alpha Derek accepted the bond and made her his Luna. They are holding a ball in a month and have invited all of the surrounding alliances.

The car quickly stopped and I unbuckled Mila. Her eyes were wide with excitement when she looked at the front of the restaurant. There were people lined up outside and many were now looking at the car and whispering.

“F**k, I guess word got out.” Blake said quickly.

I knew why these people were here, they wanted to see their Luna. Someone must have spread the word that we would be here..great.

“Are you ready?” I asked Mila and she nodded softly looking out towards where all the people stood.

Donovan walked up and opened the door, I quickly slid out and offered Mila my hand. A hushed silence filled the air and Mila took a deep shuddering breath.

Are you okay?

I mind-linked quickly, was this too much for her? The urge to yank her back into the car and go home filled me.

She nodded softly and smiled, her hand squeezing mine as we began walking around the car. Blake and Tristan stood next to my Mila protectively as we walked towards the crowd of people. There had to be at least thirty pack members here standing outside.

Even Donovan was hovering around, assessing the situation as Ian walked up, standing between us and them.

All of their eyes were on Mila, she looked at each person, a soft smile on her face as kindness radiated off of her. I blinked rapidly, just looking at her I swear she was glowing…

“Alpha, our Luna.” I heard a few people say and suddenly they all bent down on one knee, their heads bent as we walked closer.

‘What the hell is going on?’

Blake linked me, we never made our pack bow like this..it was almost shocking.

“Please, stand.” I heard Mila’s voice, it came out smooth and strong. I glanced down at her and she looked at these people before us with adoration and amazement.

“I am sorry I have been hiding away, I hope you can all forgive me.” She said sweetly, I felt speechless..

One of our well-known pack members George stood and approached us slowly. His eyes were on Mila as he stopped a few feet away. He must have sensed my hesitation as he kept his distance.

“Luna, we have all been waiting to meet you.” He said kindly and I was shocked..had my pack really been suffering all this time because I didn’t pick a Luna?

Suddenly a small girl ran up, crashing into Mila’s legs, causing me to tense and almost pull her back.

Mila squeezed my hand and looked at me.

“It’s okay.” She whispered quickly, sensing my hesitation.

“Oh I am so sorry..” a woman with a worried expression said while running up to the child. I was guessing had to be the mom.

Suddenly Mila let go of my hand with a broad smile on her face as she bent down. She gently pulled the little girl back, her hands brushing the small girl’s hair from her face as she spoke.

“What’s your name?” She asked softly to the little girl who looked to be six or seven.

“My name is Tessa, Luna.” Her big brown eyes gleamed as Mila smiled brightly.

“Well Tessa, it is nice to meet you.” She reached down, shaking the small girl’s hand as everyone watched with wonder. It was as if we were all mesmerized by this woman.

“My mommy says we have been waiting for a long time for you, that you are the one who will take care of us and protect us.” She said excitedly and Mila couldn’t help but laugh.

“Well, your mommy sounds very kind, I hope I can do all of those things the best I can. You will help me though, right? To protect and take care of our pack? Because it’s not just me, we all are important to this pack especially you.” Mila looked into the young girls’ eyes and the girl nodded enthusiastically.

“Me? I am important too?” She looked back at her mom excitedly and Mila reached out, her hand grazing the young girl’s cheek.

“Of course you are, you are what makes this pack so special. So it can grow and continue to be strong.” She laughed and the little girl hugged her tightly.

‘Holy shit.’

Blake said in the link and I couldn’t have said it better myself. Mila was a f*****g natural, the way these people looked at her, the way she spoke to them..this was a true Luna..she was my Luna.

Mila spoke to a few of the members who welcomed her excitedly. They were all whispering about how amazing she was by the time we entered the restaurant. Tristan was hovering close, making sure no one would do anything to my Luna and Blake just laughed and talked with Mila as people welcomed her with open arms. I honestly couldn’t even speak, seeing her interact with all of these people…I couldn’t help but swell with pride. She promised them to start working on joining the pack and the Luna ceremony soon.

‘Alpha, I have never seen a pack welcome a new Luna so openly like that…the fact that she isn’t even a part of the pack yet and they all speak as if they have been waiting for her their whole lives. There has to be more to Mila’s real parents.’

Tristan linked and I knew he was right..something about Mila..it might be nothing but the way she presents herself, how she speaks to others, and her natural aura..it just seems different. Unlike any wolf, I had ever met. There was something special about her and whatever it was…I had a feeling it would be big.
