The Luna’s Hidden Destiny – Chapter 35
(Rowan)
What the hell just happened..not only was her dad a complete psycho, but then you get this a*****e Rogue who is claiming to be the king of who knows what and he wants my mila.
Rage filled me..no..not even rage..fury..pure disgust and fury. Who the hell did these f*****g men think they were? The way Mila’s father talked to her..it wasn’t like a father at all, it was more like a jealous possessive ex. He sounded completely obsessed with her. I looked down at my trembling mate, Bain was so close to snapping her father’s neck. It would have been so easy but I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t be the one to kill him..she would never be able to forgive me for that. Then he ran like a coward, at least we had the “Rogue King” Now that guy is a complete piece of work. Him…I would enjoy killing him nice and slow.
Mila couldn’t even look me in the eye, she was ashamed. There was no reason for her to be but I knew she was embarrassed by the way her father acted and treated her.
‘Alpha, we found the cabin. You have to see this shit. Looks like her father took off up north so it should be safe.’
One of the warriors named John linked me.
‘Okay, on our way.’
I looked down at Mila, she clung to my chest as I slipped on my pants. Blake followed behind worriedly, he was almost as pissed as Bain was. Hearing him through the link, he wanted me to let him kill her dad. Tristan luckily had a level head, I could tell he was worried but during situations like this he is calm and collected, he doesn’t act on emotions.
“Baby, they found your cabin, it looks like your father went north. We will recover there and then head back to Black Stone.” I whispered softly into her ear. She just nodded, still unable to look me in the eye.
I stopped, reaching my hand down, and pulled her chin up gently, making her meet my gaze.
“Mila, I love you..this doesn’t change anything okay? We will figure it out as we go.” I needed to reassure her..to let her know that she is just as important to me as she was before..if not more. I would never let her out of my f*****g sight again. I bent down, kissing her forehead as she nuzzled into me once more.
Looking back I noticed Ian following us closely, he had been watching her intently after checking her wound.
We walked through a clearing and came up on a small wood cabin..it was more like a shack than a cabin. Looking at it my heart instantly dropped. This is what Mila had been living in her whole life? She lifted her head, seeing the cabin.
“I can walk, it’s okay.” She spoke meekly, her eyes drawn to the cabin.
“No, I want to carry you.” I said firmly, refusing to let her out of my sight.
A few guards wandered around the cabin, taking their post as we walked towards the door. We stepped in, the room was dark as Mila reached over, flipping on a light.
I set her down now, my eyes wandering the room as a knot formed deep in my stomach..this is what she lived like..there was a single couch, a tiny kitchen with a table and chairs..our cell rooms were bigger than this. She slowly walked forward towards a door in the back.
“This is my room.” She whispered and I followed her closely.
She opened the door and all that was inside was a small bed with a dresser. A few trinkets were scattered about but other than that there wasn’t much. She noticed her bed was messy and she quickly made it, her cheeks growing red as she tucked her hair behind her ear.
“I know it’s small..” she said, trailing off.
I shook my head, forcing a smile.
“It’s nice.” I tried to sound kind but it came out more sad than anything.
I began examining her room some more, noticing one of her walls was covered in art work. Watercolor painting of various plants and animals, one of which I recognized immediately as her dad’s wolf. Seeing it causes a low growl to try and make its way out.
“Did you paint these?” I asked softly, and she nodded her head, rummaging through one of her dresser drawers.
“It was just something I started to do a few years ago.” She said like it was nothing.
These were actually amazing..my eyes were instantly drawn to one of her. A self-portrait..she got her eyes perfectly. It was breathtaking..
“Can I keep this one?” The words slipped from my mouth before I even realized it. She looked over my shoulder and nodded, a soft smile forming on her lips.
“If you like.” She said looking away, her cheeks growing pink..f**k she was adorable. I quickly took the painting down and set it aside. I walked over to her, wrapping my arms around her waist as I pulled her into me.
“Are you okay?” I asked her, my hands holding her possessively as I searched her eyes.
“I feel embarrassed..that my dad acted that way. I had never seen him like that.. it was..weird. I…I don’t know what to think.” she admitted and I was grateful that she was so honest with me.
“It’s a lot to take in. Mila..you have been isolated here for so long…I just think there is more to this than we know.” She needed to know something was off about all of this. She seemed more like a hostage than a daughter to me.
She nodded her head, looking down as she spoke.
“It’s hard to admit..but seeing my father like that. I didn’t know who that man was..and I am beginning to wonder if I ever did.” Her voice wavered, those tears threatening to fall once more and it f*****g killed me.
I reached up, my hands cupping her face as I bent down, kissing her deeply. I needed to show her she was loved, she needed to feel how much I cared for her. My body began to fill with warmth, that knot loosening slightly as she kissed me back and I suddenly realized..those weren’t my feelings, they had been hers the whole time. She was the one feeling uneasy and unsettled.
“You have a home now, a family..we all love you Mila. You are going to join our pack and become my Luna.” It wasn’t even a request, it was an order. I wasn’t going to let her father ruin this for her.
“I love you Rowan..you are everything to me..I’m sorry for running ahead, for how this all happened..I’m so sorry.” She sobbed, those emotions finally spilling out as I pulled her into me once more, my hands caressing her back lovingly.
“It’s okay, everything is okay now.” I whispered, wishing I could fix all of this.
‘Alpha, you need to come and see this.’
Tristan linked.
‘Okay, be right there.’
I pulled away from Mila, looking down at her as she sniffled softly.
‘Don’t bring Mila..this might be too much for her.’
He said quickly, and I tensed.
“What is it?” She asked softly, looking at me with concern.
“I just have to talk with Tristan really quick. Blake is coming to stay with you okay?” I brushed my thumb across her cheek. My sweet mate too good for this.. too good for any of it. Blake came in, his arms wide as he pulled her into a hug.
“F**k, I was so worried about you.” Blake said, his affection actually not angering me as much as usual. Which was surprising. I guess because I knew how much she needed that type of love and support right now.
“Oh shit Mil, is this your room?” I heard Blake ask as I walked out of the cabin.
‘Be warned bro, that shit is messed up.’
Blake linked to me as I followed Tristan’s scent through the woods. About a hundred yards away was another small cabin. A strong smell hit me immediately, it smelled like dark magic and death..my stomach dropped.
Tristan was outside talking with John as I walked forward. Their eyes caught mine and they looked worried.
“What is it?” I asked, making my way closer as the small cabin sat before us.
“It’s…you just need to see for yourself.” Tristan said, turning towards the cabin and opening the door. A dark pungent smell washed over me, causing my stomach to turn as I walked into the dark cabin. What waited inside shocked me completely…
