The Lovenina princesses: New Beginnings (Book 1)

Chapter 12

~Bella~

“Those two better watch their back,” Bella threatened, watching Lucy and Rose enter the nurse’s office.

“Why is that?” A minion asks.

“They don’t know what is coming, especially the loud mouth. Now go get me a smoothie, Molly!” Bella cackled.

💖

“Are you sure, you are ok to go to class?” Rose asked watching Lucy throw her legs across the bed.

“Totally, I’m all bandaged up now, I am not missing the only class I enjoy because of this.”

“Girl, you almost passed out the way here when you realized blood from your wound was dripping down your leg.”

“Girl, almost is the key word, I am good, thanks to you. By the way, how did you explain this to the nurse?”

“I said it was a skateboard injury.”

“Good, call!”

“I thought so too, I know this wasn’t your fault. Like you didn’t ask to be slammed into a wall, but let’s try not to get more injuries.”

“I am so on the same page.” Lucy laughed, fist-pumping Rose.

“D-d-amn, I’m stupid shouldn’t have used the sore hand.” Lucy groaned as she pulled away and rub at the fresh bandage on her wrist.

“Just a tad,” Rose added.

💖

“You got to be kidding me,” Lucy groaned as she looked at the glass doors.

Clack—Clack…

Bella strolled in like she was walking the catwalk; while holding a smoothie, cackling her heels.

“Miss Ross, you are late!”

“I am so sorry Mr. Green, Molly’s locker was jammed,” Bella announced, while she sat down at a table closest to the teacher’s desk.

“Two people are not needed to unjam a locker; you have been late since this year started. I will see you at lunchtime, Miss Ross.”

“I don’t think that is necessary,” Bella said as she snapped her fingers.

“You are right,” Mr. Green agreed, patting Bella’s back; before he went back to his’s desk.

“What the heck he totally just patted her on the back for being late,” Lucy said as she read over her make-up work.

“I guess when you are the queen bee you can do whatever you want,” Rose suggested, noticing Bella was walking over.

“I am going to grab us some papers don’t do anything stupid,” Rose whispered when Bella reaches their table.

💖

“What do you want?” Lucy groaned.

“Relax Freshman I—”

“Wow” so now I am a freshman is that a higher rank than orphan?”

“It’s the same rank,” Bella said as she sat down across from Lucy.

“Oh, I see you have to act like the “perfect” student in class. It would be a shame if your “subjects” see that you are truly a bitch, Miss queen bee.”

“Listen here Lucy, I don’t like you and you have no idea what is going on,” Bella stated grabbing her by the arm.

“Most people don’t, I will make sure to add you to the list, also I don’t care what you are planning,” Lucy replied, ripping her arm away.

“It’s not me you have to worry about… so anyway I came over to ask you where you got that necklace it caught my eye earlier,” Bella said reaching for the Heart gem.

“It was a gift,” Lucy answered, shoving the necklace underneath her shirt.

“I’m back.”

“Ugh, I got to go,” Bella said glaring at Rose, while she fled.

“Jeez, what did I do to her?” Rose asked sitting down.

“Don’t think too hard about it she just wanted us to know we should fear her.”

“So, what did she want?” Rose asked.

“Just to throw out dumb threats and where I got my necklace from.”

“You don’t think…”

“No, Bella is too ordinary to be a witch.” Lucy pointed out.

Ring!

Ring!

“Miss Heart, please report to the Headmaster’s office,” Mr. Green announced as he hung up the phone.

“What did you do?” Rose asked as Lucy searched her bag for her planner.

“Beats me probably something about grades,” Lucy whispered as she left the table.

💖

I always hated how you had to sit in an uncomfortable chair to wait for some middle-aged adult to tell you what you did wrong.

“Poor kid,” Lucy mumbled as she watched a crying kid leave the dark, unwelcoming room.

“MISS HEART GET IN HERE!”

Lucy followed the heavy footsteps into the chilling, creepy room that made her feel like the walls were closing in.

“WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY FOR YOURSELF!” The Headmaster yelled as he shines a lamp in her face.

Jeez, did I murder someone what is with the spotlight?

“WELL!”

“Um, I really don’t know why I am here.”

“Really you are going to play dumb.”

“Sir, I am not, I really don’t know what I did that made me get called down.”

“So, are you telling me you did not corner Miss Ross?”

“Is this a joke Bella cornered me she literally clawed her nails into my skin, and nearly broken my wrist,” Lucy informed, holding up her bandage wrist.

“Enough! Ms. Ross said you cornered her before classes started and she has shown me the scratches from you.”

“I could show you the marks from her nails she is lying,” She said as she starts to pull up the bottom part of her shirt.

“Miss Ross is a straight-A student and enrolled in almost every after-school activity she isn’t a liar,” The Headmaster said as he shoved her hands away.

“So, you will only listen to her side of the story, because she is one of your top students.” She pointed out laying back in her chair.

Ms. Heart—”

“No, don’t Miss Heart me if you won’t listen to me why don’t you look at the cameras they are all over this damn school. I bet you got one set up in the courtyard!” She shouted, standing up from her chair and getting in his face.

“It is not necessary to check.”

“Not necessary, I just told you I got her nail marks on my skin. I didn’t even touch her.”

“This is a warning Miss Heart, but if you touch Miss Ross again you are out of here now get back to class. NOW!”

“Yes sir,” She obeyed, leaving the darkroom.

💖

“Welcome back orphan,” Bella said as Lucy reenter the room.

“Whoa, you ok you look like you want to punch someone?” Rose asked as Lucy sat back down.

“I do, Bella got everyone at this dump wrapped around her finger,” Lucy said clenching her hands.

“That’s a queen bee for you.”

“Ugh.”

“I know it sucks, but just let it go you came back so I am guessing you got a warning,” Rose said as she lightly sketched.

“Yeah, “supposedly” I corner Bella and scratched her.”

“Anyway, I am going to get some paint, so I can just start with the final painting I don’t feel like sketching it out first.”

“Ok, be careful not to spill it on yourself.”

“No promises I am a klutz,” Lucy replied winking at Rose.

“I will be right back class continue to work on your paintings!”

“So, you are a klutz that makes so much sense,” Bella said as Lucy reaches for the paint.

“How did you hear that Rose and I are all the way in the back, while you are front and center?”

“Guess I just got good ears,” Bella replied slamming Lucy into the table.

“Or you are just a stalker,” Lucy winced at the impact.

“So, that necklace did Rose give it to you? I notice she has a matching one.”

“Are they your little BFF promise necklaces how “cute,” Bella teased as she spatters paint in Lucy’s face.

“I don’t see you or Molly or any of your other minions have one… are you jealous is that why you seem obsessed with my necklace,” Lucy suggested, wiping the paint off with her hand.

“Look you are really messing up my vibe, this is my turf, so stop being bold and fear me, and follow my rules like everyone else,” Bella snarled, grabbing Lucy by the wrists.

“Um, let me think… no thanks,” Lucy stated, wincing at the pressure.

“Well, since it seems like I am not getting to you by hurting you. Maybe I should go after the goody two shoes, bookworm, weak—”

“Don’t you touch her!” Lucy growled, clenching her hands.

“Now we are getting somewhere,” Bella whispered letting go of Lucy’s wrists. Causing her to crash into the table making the paint spill.

“Glad we sorted this out, orphan.”

“THAT’S IT!” Lucy shouted, swinging her fist into Bella’s jaw.

Bella crashed to the ground. Red dripped down her face.

Oh my god, I just did that! I just fought back against her! I made her bleed. Oh god, the b-blood is on me!

Lucy stared at her stained red shaky fingers then over to the puddle forming under Bella. Even though she wasn’t hit, She felt like she was as her airway closed as she saw the blood everywhere. On her skin, clothes, the table, and the floor.

“Oh, my god Lucy!” Rose gasped rushing over and knocking Lucy out of her thoughts, “What happen to letting it go.”

“Fuck that she cross a line,” Lucy admitted trying to contain her wobbly legs.

“That doesn’t mean you can just—”

“LUCY LE HEART!”

“ROSE ANN MARIE!”

Lucy and Rose turnaround from Bella holding her bloody jaw and saw their art teacher had returned to the bloody scene.

“LUCY AND ROSE GATHER YOUR THINGS AND GO TO THE HEADMASTER’S OFFICE NOW!”

“Molly help, Miss Ross to the nurse’s.”

“I can’t believe you… you got us suspended.” Rose sighed, stepping out of the elevator.

“Only for the first quarter we were going to ask to move online anyway.”

“Is that all you can say to me I never got in trouble before and you can’t even apologize for dragging me into it!” Rose shouted as they enter the dorm building.

“I didn’t drag you into anything, you were the one who rushed over and I tried to explain to our dumbass Headmaster you didn’t do anything, but he did not listen, because Bella can do no wrong in his eyes!”

“You were supposed to let it go why did you punch her!?” Rose asked.

“I told you she crossed a line!” Lucy yelled.

“Which was!”

“YOU ROSE, SHE THREATEN YOU TO GET TO ME AND IT WORKED!”

“Wait, what?” Rose asked, following Lucy into her room.

“The line she crossed was you,” Lucy repeated.

“Oh…thank you, but I can handle myself and you shouldn’t have gotten violent.”

“Yeah, I know, but she still deserved it.”

“Maybe she did, but like I said I can handle myself,” Rose said as she sat on the end of Lucy’s bed.

“No, you know what you couldn’t. I’ve seen how you handle people like that in the past you just take it—”

“Excuse me!”

“You don’t stand up for yourself in situations like this and Bella isn’t different. I punched her for you so you didn’t have to go through that again.”

“Wow! Well, thank you! I must really be dumb if I thought my BFF. Thought I was strong enough to fight my own battles—”

“Rose I—”

“YOU DON’T THINK I DON’T KNOW THAT LUCY! BELIEVE ME, I KNOW I AM NOT AS STRONG AS YOU… I AM SO SORRY I CAN’T BE AS STRONG AS YOU ARE, LUCY!” Rose shouted as tears flooded her face.

“Rose I didn’t mean it like that, I am sorry,” Lucy explained, reaching for Rose’s hand.

“Get off me!” Rose shouted, pulling away.

“I was trying to apologize…” Lucy said as she tries again.

“I don’t need your pity.”

“Pity, I’m Rose I…”

“Just stop, Lucy I know you’re just trying to make me feel better… but it’s true.”

“Rose…” Lucy started as she picks her next word carefully.

“Rose, I am sorry I shouldn’t have said that, you are strong not in the fist and kicking, and fighting way like I am, but you are in your own special way I didn’t mean to upset you,” Lucy confirmed, while she hugged Rose. “I heard you were fantastic at making potions.”

“Yeah…but you know I have been thinking, and this whole conversation just proves it,” Rose said unclasping her necklace and placing it in Lucy’s hand.

“Rose?”

“I am done, I don’t want to know about my past or train for a battle I know nothing about,” Rose explained, making her way to the door.

“Wait Rose, you need this to protect yourself from witches,” Lucy demanded, running over, and forcing her to turn around.

“Lucy, you can do whatever you want, but I rather live in the future. Where it is safer,” Rose confessed.

“We can live in both. What is your problem I am just trying to keep you safe.”

“Don’t get mad at me, I said I am done just understand that and give me some space for a bit.”

“I am not mad… I’m just…Rose come on listen Hunter said we should never take our gems off it’s not safe to not have it on, please just take it back. So, you can be protected from those stupid witches,” Lucy begged, handing Rose her gem.

“No, I am done with that and you should be too!” Rose snapped, slapping Lucy’s hand causing the necklace to fall to the floor.

“But they need help, Rose why are you abandoning them now; before we even start!” Lucy yelled, picking the necklace up.

“BECAUSE I AM SCARED OK!” Rose roared throwing her hands in the air.

“Well—wake up Rose life is scary, this and that reality is scary, living is scary I am scared too, but this is our destiny and it is overwhelming, but also exciting… you love to read about adventures like this what is the difference with living yours?”

“The difference is this is real, and if one of us rushes into this without thinking that one is a goner.”

“You’re talking about me?”

“Yeah, I’m not scared of my damn past; I am scared of losing you. I mean you already rushed into a fight and got knocked out. The battles will be much worse, so if we just forget all about it we will both be ok.”

“Rose, you’re not going to lose me and I will respect your choice, but I can’t leave Hunter and Ella with no hope.”

“Lucy… I am so happy we have met Hunter and Ella, but please think about yourself.”

“I will think about it, but please take your gem even if you are done with the whole magic thing just use it to stay safe.”

“No, give it back to Hunter and Ella they will have more uses for it than me.”

“But—”

“I will be fine just end it ok, I um will talk to you later,” Rose said hugging her.

“Ok, fine I will end it see you later stay safe,” Lucy agreed, hugging her back.

~

“I know I told Rose I will end it, but I need to protect her from those witches even if she doesn’t want me to,” Lucy decided, clasping Rose’s gem around her throat.

Hunter would know what to do, She thought, opening a portal.

She ran into the shimmering forest where Ella told her there was a secret passageway to her castle. When Lucy mentions Hunter took her there on their mini tour of the kingdom.
