The Lost Female Alpha

Chapter 47

Elijah has been keeping me busy for the last couple of days, trying to distract me, I guess. It made for a fun weekend but I was paying for it now. I was tired and I didn't have any time this weekend to think about my problem. Today I was at school and I would have plenty of time to formulate a plan. I was approaching the end of school now and there wasn't much for me to do. I had finished all my assignments and had learnt the syllabus so my days at school were pretty empty. That left me free to spend most of the morning in the library doing research and making plans.

Using the information I had gathered from my connection to my mom, I had managed to narrow down her location. I couldn't be sure but to me it felt as though the connection was originating from somewhere close to my old pack, probably no more than twenty kilometres away.

When I looked at maps of that region there was a small village in about the right location. I wanted to check it out but I knew it was going to be difficult. The village was a long way away, there was no chance of me getting so far away while Elijah was watching me like a hawk.

"So this is where you have been hiding all day," Ava said. I had been concentrating so hard on what I was doing that I hadn't noticed her sneaking up behind me. I almost jumped out of my seat. Felix smirked at me but he knew better than to make a comment about it.

The librarian looked up from her computer for long enough to scowl at us. I am sure that if we were any other students then she would have told us to be quiet. She wasn't brave enough to try giving her luna orders, instead she sat at her desk looking frustrated.

"We were worried that Elijah had locked you in his room." Ryker mumbled. He was smiling and his tone was light but I wasn't the only one who could see through his facade. Felix was glaring at him and biting the inside of his cheek, there was a faint scent of blood in the air as he bit down too hard.

"Don't be silly," I chided. Ryker rolled his eyes at me but he sat down at the table beside me regardless. I didn't want to let them know what I had been doing all morning but none of them were willing to let me get away with that. They kept asking me question after question until eventually I relented and told them the truth.

"My brother told me that it wouldn't be safe to go after your mom, so why are you doing this?" Felix eyed me suspiciously.

"It makes me feel like I am doing something, even if I know I can't act on the information I find." As I spoke I watched Felix to gauge his reaction. He listened to me carefully but his facial expression wasn't giving anything away. "If you want to...."

Felix stopped speaking abruptly. His mouth was open as though he was still speaking but no words were coming out and he wasn't moving at all. In fact he looked as though someone had pressed pause on him. He looked pretty silly but this was no laughing matter, I only knew one person who could have this effect on others.

Glancing around the rest of the library I could see that everyone in the room was also frozen in place. It was eerie and surreal but I knew that real danger wasn't far away. Fear started creeping up my spine, I had to find a way out of here before Arthur could find me.

Slipping out of my seat as silently as I could, my eyes darted between each of the people in the room looking for signs of them noticing me. I slid my backpack out from under the table then, ever so slowly, crept towards the exit. The moment I made it out of the library I realised that I had a much larger problem. The corridors were filled with students, all of whom were frozen in place. There was nowhere for me to hide so I decided it was best just to move slowly so I wouldn't draw too much attention to myself.

Once I got out of the building things were easier. There were less people and more places to hide. Using the environment to my advantage I was able to make it to the treeline without drawing attention from any of the human statues. It was such a relief to no longer be out in the open, it gave me a chance to think about my next move.

I wasn't sure how far Arthur's effects would reach or how long they would last. The only place I could think to go where I would be safe was my own home. I know that Elijah wasn't immune to Arthur's powers but I was hoping that he couldn't control that many people at once. If he could, then I guess I was just going to have to lock myself in my room for a few hours.

It took me much longer than it usually would to get home. Instead of taking the direct route through the town centre, I had to walk around the perimeter. By sticking to the forest, I managed to make it all the way home without seeing anyone. Even if it felt like I had been walking for hours.

Maybe the smart move would be for me to go straight to our room and stay there, but curiosity got the better of me. Elijah was in his office when I left him and that was exactly where I found him now. He was sitting at his desk, looking at the screen of his computer. If I hadn't noticed how still he was being then I might have thought everything was normal.

Taking a few steps backwards, I tried to leave the room without making a sound. Just as I stepped back into the hallway, Elijah's eyes moved and looked directly at me. That sucks, so much for getting out of this without being seen. "There you are my beautiful flower. I have been waiting for you." Hearing Arthur using Elijah's voice made me feel disgusted and angry.

"Sorry to keep you waiting." I might have been able to suppress my eye roll but keeping the sarcasm out of my voice was impossible.

“That is ok my love, seeing you makes all the waiting worthwhile." Ugh, apparently Arthur wasn't capable of understanding sarcasm. I couldn't believe that he would think I actually wanted to see him, this guy's ego is far too big. "What do you want?" I growled.

"You, I thought that would be obvious by now. You blocked me out of your mind, so I needed to find another way to get to you." He replied, completely ignoring my frustrated tone. "You did all this because I blocked you out?" My breath caught in my throat, the whole pack was being punished for something that I had done. This was not a good feeling.

"Of course, I am not going to let anything come between us." He replied. He stood up and crossed the room towards me. Every instinct in my body told me to run but what would that solve when he had every werewolf in the whole pack locked inside their own body?

Doing this to our pack was also a demonstration of his strength. Arthur wanted me to know how powerful he was and how powerless I was by comparison. He was giving me a taste of how things would go if I decided to stand up to him.

"Ok, you made your point. Can you release the rest of my pack now?" I asked, trying to keep my tone soft, so that he wouldn't get too annoyed with me.

"Nice try my love but you aren't getting rid of me that easily. I am not leaving until you agree to come back with me." He told me but I doubted his words. It sounded like a bunch of hot air to me. Keeping control over so many people had to be taking a lot out of him, I was sure he wouldn't be able to do it for long.

Arthur smirked.

"I know what you are thinking and I wouldn't count on it. I can do this for a lot longer than your packmates can live without water."

Onyx growled, she wanted to rip his face off, maybe that was why he didn't come in person this time. He must have known that I would want to retaliate after he gave me his message. Just like any alpha would once you took away all of their other options. I didn't care what he wanted, I wasn't going to give up easily.

Arthur silently watched me as I weighed up my options. He made it clear that waiting him out wasn't going to work but what other options did that leave me with. If I knew how to use my powers then maybe I would stand a chance of beating him at his own game. That was going to take time that I didn't have or the help of someone else.

Someone else with my powers and a lot more experience was exactly what I needed and I knew of one such person not too far away. I just needed to make sure that Arthur would be distracted for a few hours. Thinking quickly, I started to formulate a plan. I would need Elijah to be distracted and I would need Arthur to be away from his own territory.

"I will come with you to your pack." I told him. Arthur's face lit up with excitement. He moved even closer to me and held out his hand for me to take. He was so close to me now that Elijah's calming scent was surrounding me. "Not right now, I need to prepare a few things first. Maybe on Saturday but I will need a distraction to get past Elijah." I stated.

"That can be arranged." Arthur said, a deep smile forming on Eiljah's face.

"Then I will meet you at my old pack but it will take me a few hours to get there." I concluded. Arthur eagerly agreed to my plan, clearly he was so happy that I agreed to his demands, that he didn't wonder why I agreed to it so easily. Arthur stepped forward and kissed my cheek before giving a very confused Elijah control over his own body again.
