The Lost Female Alpha

Chapter 17

Elijah wrapped his arm around my waist and started heading towards the wing where his family lived. It felt so good being in his arms. I could feel the heart radiating from his body and a sense of finally belonging somewhere. I wanted this feeling to last forever, I was amazing but also terrifying.

He led me into a large dining room which was dominated by a huge table. It looked odd to see such a large table with only three people sitting at it. It was even more strange seeing Felix sitting politely at the table with his parents, it was so different from the side of him that I was used to.

Every one of them looked in our direction as we entered the room. I felt a sudden rush of anxiety. I couldn't hear their thoughts in the same way as I could hear Elijah's. I wondered if they thought that I was nothing but a rogue, just like Elijah did.

They were smiling at me and I couldn't see any hint of judgement but that was hardly conclusive. They were probably only faking it for Elijah's sake. They probably wish he would reject me and find someone more appropriate. 'Stop it, Elijah loves us.' Onyx said.

Elijah sat me down at the table next to his mom before taking the seat next to me. Once he was sitting down he took hold of my hand and smiled at me in a reassuring manner. There was a softness in his eyes that I couldn't quite place. "So this is the mate that we have been hearing so much about." His dad said. I froze, this is where they all tell me how unworthy I am to be luna.

I focused my attention on keeping my breathing level and my expression neutral, at least I could look dignified as they ripped apart my character. I had years of practice when it came to this, at this point I was pretty much an expert. I just wished that they could have had this conversation without me. Then Elijah could have rejected me privately before the whole pack found out about him being my mate.

"You said she was beautiful but I thought you were exaggerating." His mom said.

"I didn't just say beautiful, I said that she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen." Elijah thought.

I could feel my cheeks warming up, this I wasn't prepared for. When was the last time that I received a compliment from someone who wasn't trying to get into my pants? I can't even remember.

"Thank-you." I mumbled, not quite knowing what else to say. Was thank-you the right thing to say in this situation.

"Elijah also said that you were a strong fighter." His dad said, looking directly at me.

"He isn't wrong, I still have the bruises to prove it." Felix said. There was humour in his voice instead of the hostility that I was more used to hearing from him.

"Christian has been training me ever since I was very young." I said.

Should have put more thought into this and come up with a better reason for my strength. It would have been an even better idea to let Felix beat me the other day when we were sparring. Unfortunately that would have gone against all my instincts as an alpha wolf.

'It was also really satisfying to see him lose.' Onyx added.

It certainly was but it did leave me with a bit of an issue. Only alpha wolves were able to beat other alpha wolves in a fair fight. Even if they weren't saying anything directly they had to have suspicions about me. My plan for revenge hinged on Felix not wanting anyone to know that I had kicked his ass. I hadn't factored in Elijah watching us fight or Felix admitting it outright.

"That is very interesting. Do you know who your parents were?" His dad asked.

Now the panic really was starting to take over, I could feel it in my chest and spreading down my spine causing my heart to race and my muscles to tighten. Elijah must have sensed my discomfort because he squeezed my hand gently. 'You could just tell them the truth.' Onyx said.

It would feel good to tell the truth about who I was but it was also terrifying. I couldn't know how they would react to what I was, I couldn't even be sure how Elijah would react. So I retreated into my usual response of vague misdirection. "I was very young when they died." I said. Which was technically true.

"That is ok, you have a new family now." Elijah's mom said.

They all smiled at me but I had no idea how to respond. I hated lying but what other choice did I have. The truth was dangerous, I had learnt that the hard way.

Elijah leaned in and kissed me on the cheek. His kiss acted as though it broke some kind of spell. Everyone's attention shifted away from me and towards the food. Elijah smiled at me for a few seconds longer before turning his attention to the plate in front of him.

The rest of the meal was less tense. People spoke about their day politely as they ate. I had to resign myself to eating one handedly and with great difficulty. I tried a couple of times during the meal to remove my other hand from Elijah's grasp but every time I did I felt his sadness.

"Maybe after this me and Diana could spend some time getting to know each other." His mom said, as the omega's were serving dessert.

There was a gleam of excitement in her eyes. Her excitement was contagious, I could feel the corners of my lips turning up.

"No." Elijah said with a little too much force.

"I didn't mean it to sound so aggressive. Now what do I say, I don't want to come across as needy." Elijah thought.

"I just think it would be a good idea for Diana to get settled tonight, you can spend some quality time together tomorrow." He said. Everyone around the table nodded their heads in agreement apart from Elijah who just looked relieved. "I am glad I managed to get away with that." Elijah thought.

We ate dessert in silence. The food was good but I was distracted by Elijah's thoughts. He was fantasising about kissing me, touching me and claiming me. I tried to block out his thoughts but I didn't know how to and Onyx was being less than helpful. So I just had to sit there with his family slowly getting more and more turned on, fml.

I finished dessert as quickly as I could. Elijah had already finished so when he noticed that I was done he practically pulled me out of my seat. He wished his family a hurried goodnight and whisked me away.

He didn't bother showing me around the rest of the house. He picked up my bag as we went past the entrance and took me straight to his room. He closed the door behind us firmly and with a lot more force than necessary.

Now that we were alone I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. He was so handsome and he was all mine, I couldn't wait to see what it felt like to be with him, to have him inside me.

He closed the distance between us and held me in his arms. I was sure that he was about to kiss me, so I tilted my head upwards to give him a better angle. He pressed soft kisses along my jaw and neck.

"There will be plenty of time for that but first I want to know why you lied to my family." He said. I froze, a cold chill ran down my spine. Oh no.

"Don't worry I am not annoyed with you but I know your parents were alpha's and I know that you know who they were." He said before going back to kissing my neck.

'Just tell him the truth.' Onyx said.

I took a deep breath, this was going to be a long night.
