The Last Royal Luna

(Book 3) – Chapter 35

“I can’t believe you pulled all this together in two days! Holy crap, girl,” I exclaimed looking around the biggest ball room I had ever seen. To be honest I hadn’t even seen a ballroom until seeing this one but damn I had an urge to yell to see if it echoed.

“You doubt me? Your bestest best friend who bleeds party planning including your eighteenth birthday!” Melissa huffed acting all upset but I knew better. “I even made sure not to use an overload of pink and sparkles. I knew green and Blue fit you more along with some silver to match your soon to be crown. Now to check that the food is going ok and the big a*s cake is done.”

I gave her a hug and licked her cheek. She shoved me back and wiped her cheek on her shirt. “What are you? An untrained puppy?”

I rolled my eyes at her. “Almost but my wolf is way cuter. Also, if I lick it, it is mine. I am getting tired of sharing you with your mate. He kind of gets on my nerves.” I knew he was close enough to us that he could hear what we were talking about and he was the biggest snoop when it came to his mate.

Alistair sped over and kissed her hard enough she had to bow backwards. I yelled yuck boy cooties which caused them to laugh and break their k**s. I ran back over to where Knox and Kane were talking with their dad before I ended up on the bottom of a dog pile with Melissa tickling the s**t out of me. She never did have mercy until I screamed Uncle a good ten times.

“Why are you running, mate?” Knox knew exactly why. He reached out and grabbed me. He pulled me into his arms with my back against his front. “I caught her, Mel. Get your revenge.”

Melissa giggled and ran over with an evil witch laugh. I tensed up but she just gave me a k**s on my cheek and whispered that the waiting part was worse then the actual revenge so she would wait. She was an evil heifer, but I loved her anyway.

“Now that we are done with your revenge, Mel, what do you need us to do?” Jared asked looking around the room. “You did an amazing job. The tables look amazing with the decorations. Are those noise makers on the tables?”

“Hell yea. Once this lady is crowned, she deserves the biggest, loudest, craziest congratulations we can give her. We wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for her.” I could see the crazy in Mel’s eyes as she answered. Oh boy.

“You are right. I better warn the packs that the kids might be woken up with all the noise. They won’t care and will probably agree with you. Crazy wolves.” Jared sounded a bit annoyed, but I just chalked it up to the nerves with Nick and everything else we had going on.

“It will be ok, Jared. Everyone deserves a night to celebrate and to let loose with everything that is coming. I just pray to the Goddess that Nick holds back long enough to get the ceremony completed.”

‘Baby, a few ladies are looking for you to start getting you ready. Apparently, there is a several hour ritual of how you get clean, dressed, and all made up. I made sure they would send snacks and drinks so you wouldn’t get too hangry with them I told them I would lead you to them so I am waiting outside the ballroom doors.’ Edgar linked. I could feel that he wanted to laugh since he knew I was going to dislike most of that.

“Well, I am off to be tortured with a pampering I won’t forget or want again. If you need me, PLEASE find me.” They all laughed at me and walked with Melissa to get their assignments.

‘I am headed to you. I’d love to facetime the twins before the ladies get started. I have a bad feeling in my stomach but it may just be because of Nick.’

Edgar grabbed my hand and facetimed Parker. He was watching the twins for a few hours while my parents did some training with Sandra and Samuel. He and his boyfriend, Ezekiel, were really good with them. Parker wanted to adopt but Ezekiel wanted to wait until the war was over. I told them even though I had hopes that we wouldn’t have to go to war and if we did we wouldn’t have many of us die, that the truth was we would and we will die. With that we will have many children without parents, and they would be great for any child with the love they had. Sometimes the reality was a cold b***h.

“Hello, my sister from another mister. Everything ok there?” Parker asked as his face filled the screen. His hair was ruffled and his had spit up on his shoulder.

“You know I love you and I love seeing your face, but I would much rather seen the cute, pudgy faces that give you that new shirt look.”

He rolled his eyes at me before attacking the spit up to get if off. “Those little halflings are napping in their cribs with Ezekiel passed out in the rocking chair.”

I looked at Edgar and asked in a whisper, “Halflings?” He shrugged his shoulders and looked back at Parker.

Parker snorted at our faces. “Halflings. Half Angel and Half Demon. They are so sweet with their k**s and hugs right before trying to eat your ear off. Both of them have a tooth and use it to attack us.”

“They got a tooth? I wasn’t there for their first tooth?” My chest felt heavy, and it was hard to breathe. “I am the worst mother of all time. I hate this. I HATE THIS!”

Edgar pulled me into his chest and let me scream for a minute. I collected myself and apologized. “It is ok baby. We will get this done and never leave them again. You will catch every first once we get back and our children will know what we sacrificed to give them a safe life.”

“Yea and I made sure to get tons of pictures. I even got one of Colette biting one of the vampires who are helping guard the house. She wanted to go to and latched onto his neck. I think she has more vampire in her than her brother.” We all laughed at that.

“Can you please show me them sleeping in their cribs before I head in to get pampered?” I gave him my best pouty face.

“Pampered huh? Edgar, she claiming it to be torture yet?” They both laughed at me. Buttheads.

“Silence from both of you. Show me my babies so I can become queen.”

Parker laughed and nodded. He turned the phone around and walked into the nursery. I saw Ezekiel sit up startled that we caught him sleeping but Parker must have silenced him. Colette was passed out on her back with one arm above her head. Charles was asleep on his side with both his hands on his tummy. He was smiling in his sleep so he must be having a great dream.

“I want to k**s them so freaking bad.” I whined. Parked walked back out and turned the phone to him. “K**s them and protect them. I have a bad feeling and I don’t know if it is because of Nick or something else. If you can, double the guards around the pack and around the house. Include Alistair’s house and have them bring their daughter to our house.”

He nodded and told me good luck. They would have the tv on watching me. I was glad the kids would be able to see it even if they had no idea what was going on. We would be holding a big celebration after the war for them to be announced as the Prince and Princess. Melissa already has ideas for it, and I am going to give her free rein.

“You ready?”

I knocked on the door and a young girl answered the door. It took her a minute to recognize me but when she did, she let out the biggest squeal. “It’s the Princess! She is so beautiful. I am meeting the Princess!”

Another lady ran up and put her hand over the girl’s mouth. “I am so sorry. My daughter is excited that we said she could help.”

“Don’t be sorry. That was the best way to be greeted.” I winked at the young girl and you heard a muffled scream behind her mothers hand. “I am thankful for all the help I am getting. I do have to warn you though, I am not big into getting all dolled up and stuff.”

“So, we have heard from several of your mates throughout the day but it will be painless.”

Her daughter pushed her mother’s hand off her mouth. “Painless? You brought out the wax and we both know that doesn’t feel painless.”

I had to hide my laugh with my hand. Edgar said his goodbyes and ran out like a coward. He was a refined older man but was the biggest baby when it comes to things about women and what we do to look pretty.

“Well, how about you hold my hand when the wax is needed so I won’t have too much pain?” I asked her and her mouth dropped open.

Her mother nudged her and she agreed with a huge smile. I followed them in and prayed the mom was right about this being painless. I needed to just focus on what I was going to say at the coronation and how I was going to protect my people.

‘Ryder, Nick and his people have gathered together dressed for war.’ Asher linked. ‘Should we push the coronation up?’

‘No, but keep everyone on alert. Double up the guards on any weak points. We only have to make it a few hours and we need that time to get everything ready.’
