(Book 3) – Chapter 32
“So lets go over the groups and where they are starting their searches before we let everyone head home to say their good-byes,” I stated to the group of leaders in our meeting.
“I still don’t understand why I can’t go. Blake’s mother and our gamma can lead while I am gone.” Sandra was not taking it well that she wasn’t going to get some revenge for her pack.
Samuel rolled his eyes at his mate before patting her back. “Babe, you just had a baby and he needs your more. We need our Alpha and I need my mate. It is going to be hard enough to protect our pack along with keeping up with the groups information and helping any allies that may need it.”
“Fine.” Sandra grumbled before pulling her group list out. “The main teams that will stay out until we find the hid out will be Team Alpha and Team Beta. Team Alpha will be containing the Alpha’s Roger, Lexie, and Leif. Clan leaders Spenser and Trenton along with Cover Leader Matilda will be joining Team Alpha.”
“And team Beta will contain Beta Julian, Coven leader Willow, Beta Nash, Clan Leader Jeremiah, and Gamma Trace.” She closed her notebook. “The ones we will be sending out for short bursts of time are still being put together. The Alpha and Beta group are going to head out tonight.”
The two big teams thanked us and headed out. Roger had came here alone since his mate would be taking care of their new daughter and getting a new Beta figured out. He wanted to just move his gamma up to the new position but he didn’t want that responsibility with his mate having twins and they already had two kids. I totally got that and so did Roger. For now Trevor’s father took back the role as Beta to help out. He was also going to help pick out a new Beta.
“Are you sure you and your mates want to go out searching? Shouldn’t you be staying here to train so you can win the battle?” Samuel looked worried as he spoke, but I didn’t take offense to anything he said. He was always worried about everyone in the pack.
“I agree with my mate. All of you going together could be a bad thing. Maybe we should split you up and send you out at different times?” Sandra added.
Alistair rolled his eyes at them. “Melissa and I will be with them along with Kailey, Heath, Tyler, and another witch named Mya I believe. We have it all under control. Plus we have you two here to help with our kiddos if needed but we have it covered. We promise.”
“Sammy, my man, I am fine and we will be fine. I started this rebellion and I am going to finish it. I am going to practice my skills on the traitors we come across so I will get my practice in and my parents will be staying with the twins along with my sisters and my Bestie Parker. He and his man will be there to pick up any slack with the kids, training, or communication with other packs. We have this under control.” I gave him a hug and headed out to find Edgar who had been working with a few of the people from Alpha and Beta team on ways to sneak up on people.
Koda and his parents were standing off to the side looking like they were in deep discussion. His father’s face looked tense and rage flooded his aura. Bonnie looked like she wanted to dissolve into tears but she had her shoulders pushed back and she stood straight showing a brave Luna to everyone around her. Something bad must have happened.
I waved at Edgar before walking up to Bonnie and pulling her in for a hug. She held onto me tightly and sniffled. “Whatever happened we will fix it and returned the favor to whoever did it.”
She stepped back and nodded. “A messenger was sent to our pack. He had about twenty people with him. Our beta was ready for this to happen so not much damage was done and only three warriors were killed when a few hidden traitors leapt into the fight from the trees.”
“Those f*****g pathetic wolves need to learn a lesson,” Alpha Jerrick growled out.
“We will get them back, Dad.” Koda ran his hand through his hair letting me know how stressed he was.
“How about you and Bonnie head back to your pack with some warriors? You can check up on everyone and see what new defenses you can put in.” I smiled hoping they would do what I suggested.
Bonnie looked at Jerrick with a sad smile. “I hate to leave our grandbabies when they are leaving but I think we need to head home for a bit. We can get everything set back up and help where we can before coming back here to help get everything ready for the attacks.”
Jerrick agreed and said they would leave tomorrow when we did. For now, they wanted to go see the twins before meeting with some of the witches and vampires here about joining them on their travels back to their pack. I made sure they knew in a few hours we would be getting our kiddos to ourselves for a bit. I missed the s**t out of them when we were a part and leaving tomorrow was going to be like a knife to the heart.
Koda pulled me into his arms and kissed the top of my head. “Edgar looks done so how about we link the rest of the guys and go for a run before we head home?”
I agreed and raced him to Edgar making sure to jump on Edgars back almost making him fall over. I couldn’t stop laughing at the way his face looked when I surprised him. He got me back by flipping me onto the ground and ticking the s**t out of me.
“Ok, I…I..” I could barely talk through the laughing. “I am sorry. Let me link the guys and we can all go for a run.”
“Deal,” Edgar replied before helping me to stand and high fiving Koda. Jerks.
‘Lets go for a last run. Blue wants to kick your wolf’s asses in hide and seek.’
The rest of my mates started smack talking back but I ignored them. I ran from Koda and Edgar with a laugh. I shifted into Blue and made my way into the woods.
‘Were is a good hiding spot, Blue?’ She was better at this game then I was so I let her take over.
‘Let’s climb a tree and throw our scent off. It will be good practice and I love watching how confused they get.’ Blue giggled and climbed the nearby tree that had an abundance of branches to hide on.
‘How do you feel about leaving the pups?’ I asked Blue as we settled in to wait for the guys to call out that they give up.
‘
Not excited about it but we must do it. They have to be safe and the only way to ensure that it to take out the enemy.’ Blue sniffed the air and smiled. ‘Koda and Kane are close by. Their scent is a bit frantic so they must be close to giving up.’
‘You are loving every minute of this, aren’t you? They are going to get us back even if it is later on and you better be ready to handle it.’ She knew what I was talking about. We both hated the dog piles they started with us at the bottom before licking our faces until
we gave up.
Before she could respond Jared linked us. ‘Richard’s father, Nick, has been sighted headed toward the packs surrounding the royal land. They say he wasn’t alone.’
f**k, another man who shoved of died when he first spoke s**t to me. I am learning my lesson on these things which meant more quick deaths or banishments of some sort. Why would he be headed there?
‘Why do you think he would head there?’ I asked Jared as I jumped out of the tree and shifted back into my human self. No time to finish the game now.
‘Guys, games over. We have to meet with Jared. He just linked me some news we have to take care of.’ I linked the guys who seemed to be all over the forest. The closest was Koda and he had passed by us so many times. We were totally going to win. Dangit.
‘One of the elders from the Frosted Moon Pack that is right beside your land just reminded me about a clause in the laws. We must get you sworn in.’ Jared was stressing out.
‘Clause? And where are you so we can head there?’
‘Your house. Ill explain when you get here.’
I linked the guys on where to go and made my way to the base of one of the clothing trees. I was not about to show off my naked body right now. Stretch marks made me feel like a beached whale sometimes.
It didn’t take us long to get to the house. I went straight over to my mom who was playing with my daughter and snagged her. I had this urge to k**s her all over. Asher had swooped in and taken our son the same time I took our girl. They just giggled and giggled.
Jared walked out of the back rooms with his bag. He stopped to look at all of us with a sad face. “We must leave tonight and head to the royal lands. You must be sworn in before he can take over the lands. If he defeats the the two ally packs and the wolves on your lands he can become king.”
“No way in heck is that happening!” Andrew stated as he stood up. “Let’s pack our stuff and head out. Someone call Alistair and Melissa.”
I looked down at my baby girl and felt a tear fall down my cheek. I thought I had the night with them. I wasn’t ready to leave them. Hopefully one day they would forgive me for leaving. It wasn’t because I wanted to but because I had to. At least they were still going to be surrounded by people who loved them.
