(Book 3) – Chapter 11
“Ryder!” I heard someone screaming my name but I couldn’t see anything. All I could do was fight this feeling of falling and failing my family. It felt like my ears had been flooded with water blocking out any sounds and locking me inside my own head.
“Ryder!” The sound was closer now but still hadn’t pierced the fog. I felt arms holding me up and I could smell the nervous energy wafting off of them. I wonder if my parents smelled nervous or scared. Maybe both.
“RYDER!” The person screamed before grabbing my face and making me look at them. It was Alpha Roger and he looked scared.
“What is wrong with her?” He wasn’t asking me. I couldn’t have answered anyway. I didn’t know what was going on. My head was spinning, my mind blank, body heavy, and all I wanted to do was curl into a ball on the ground until it was all over.
One of the two holding me up explained to Roger what was going on with Melissa and her in labor, my sisters missing, and my parents missing outside of pack lands. My sisters being caught and taken entered my thoughts and I whimpered. My sisters who were brave, loved, and so freaking amazing were missing. They may think I saved them from bad fates and gave them family but they saved me. They showed me that family isn’t just b***d and that you can be strong at any size. They showed me my heart was big enough to hold everyone and love them equally.
The hands holding me dropped and new ones pulled me into a warm chest crushing me in a bear hug. That comfort, that warmth was all it took before tears flooded my cheeks and my knees gave in.
“My sist…sisters.” I gulped, almost choking on my own snot. “Parents…Why? Need them.”
“Ryder, did you hear Heath’s friend tell you he found your sisters?” Roger asked as he rubbed my hair and his wolf helped ease Blue from her frenzy.
It took a second before I could react to what he asked me. “Sisters?” I shoved myself out of his arms and looked around franticly until I caught sight of Heath. “Where? Now?!” I grabbed his arms and pulled his face a few inches from mine. His eyes were wide in fear but I didn’t care.
“They…They are with Nina, the Omega, in the basement already. They were down there playing dolls and dancing,” Heath blubbered out. I released him and howled. They were safe. They were safe. I howled again before focusing on what was going on around me.
“I am sorry I lost it. I don’t know what I would do with my sisters and now they are safe. Next step is finding my parents and taking care of the bad guys who think they can take us out with such pathetic numbers.” I looked at Roger and waited for him to fill us in.
“Listen the other Alphas and I are taking care of the attackers. We have dealt with their crazy demands and are just waiting for them to attack so we can wipe them out. Your warriors are more than ready and now more of our forces have made it here so we are more than ready.” Roger was gloating a bit at this point but it was about all of the wolves training so I didn’t give him s**t for it. “You focus on your nearing labor, your parents, and ordering around the warriors you need to help keep everyone in here safe.”
I smirked at him. “You are lucky I have too much s**t to do or Id wipe that smile off your pretty face.”
“You think my face is pretty?” He teased before heading back to the warriors.
I looked around to see what I could do but I knew what I needed to do. I didn’t want to interrupt the guys but they needed to know. I grabbed my cell phone and saw the blinking envelope telling me I had a message. I clicked on it and it was a video from an unknown number.
I pulled Heath and Tyler closer so they could watch the video with me. I had a feeling in the pit of my stomach that it wasn’t going to be a good one to watch and I would hate to have to explain it to someone more than once. Repeating bad news was hard enough when it wasn’t happening to you.
I took a deep breath and centered myself on the nature surrounding us. Everything was chaos around us with people running from different houses and others working their way to the pack house for safety. Children were crying while mothers soothed them and ran as fast as they could. Men yelled at each other different instructions on what to do and how to keep us all safe.
“Push Play and then we call your mates. They have to know.” Heath ordered as he rubbed my shoulder in comfort.
I did as he said and the video began showing my parents tied up on the floor with my dad looking like complete crap. He either refused to do as they were told or they just decided to beat the tar out of him. His mouth and nose were bloody. One of his eyes was swollen along with his jar. My mother was crying but her eyes showed how pissed off she was. Whoever had them was in for a world of hurt when she found out her kids were safe. A man stepped into the picture with a big enough smile to show his yellow teeth. It took a second to remember who he was.
“Melanie’s father? Are you kidding me? I am going to kill him just like I did his daughter!” I screamed. A few wolves stopped and turned toward me growling at my anger. They wanted to know who was making this happen and if it was an ex-pack member they wanted in on the fight.
I turned the video up so everyone could hear when he spoke. “Now that I have your attention, I want to thank you for allowing me to get ahold of some of your loved ones so easily. I really thought it would be harder since we haven’t taken over the pack lands you are on just yet. I shouldn’t have believed those weak vampires and witches. Oh well.” He laughed… He f*****g laughed like he was hanging out with friends and just having a grand old time. Blue was going nuts wanting his b***d.
He continued speaking as he walked toward my parents. “I have a few demands and I will make sure your parents are returned in one piece. I want control of the Raging Moon Pack. I want to be the King either by you stepping down and giving it to me or by us mating. I will kill your other mates if I have to mate you because I don’t share. Last, I want one of your sisters to replace my daughter Melanie since you killed her and I need an heir.” He started laughing so hard I saw the glistening of tears on his cheeks.
“Don’t f*****g do it!” My mother yelled as she struggled against the ropes. A guard stepped into the picture hitting my mom snapping her head back hard enough to leave her breathless. The message ended.
‘They are dead. Long, drawn out painful deaths by our hands. No one will change that or they will join them.’ Blue huffed.
“Oh my god. What do we do?” Heath had started to freak out. Tyler was right there with him.
“You both are going to tell the Alpha, Beta, and Gamma what is going on. I am going to call my mates and form a plan.” I walked away from them knowing they would do what they were told. I needed a minute to break down before making a phone call I was dreading.
