(Book 2) – Chapter 9
Roger escorts them back toward Karen’s bedroom while Asher and I head toward the meeting room. He linked the guys to catch up to us so it wasn’t long before I thought I heard a stampede of elephants running up behind us but it was just my mates and the Beta. The former Alpha and Luna were not attending the meeting but did want a private meeting some time this week. They have few ideas what may help us.
Asher opened the door for me but I only got half way in before I realized just how big Roger’s office was. It was a meeting room meets an office meets a lounge. What the heck. And all the gaming systems hooked up to the biggest tv I have ever seen even baffled the boy’s heads. We all looked like fish with out mouths hanging open in shock.
I noticed the perfect seat for a relaxed meeting and ran toward it. “That big all bean bag is mine, suckers.” I jumped and plopped right in the middle. It was so stinking soft and it surrounded me like a cloud.
“Hey! That is big enough to share!” Knox whined walking toward me.
“Heck No.” I growled flashing my eyes purple at him. He stopped and was shocked I would be that protective of a seat. “I want one for our house!”
“Whatever you want, baby girl! I bet you want it to be purple.” Kane whispered in my ear before he gave me a hungry k**s. I never got a chance to answer.
“Did your eyes turn purple?” Roger asked from the doorway. He looked like he was trying to study something new like a scientist would.
“Yea. Sorry about that. They turn purple when I get emotional. Usually when I am pissed or super upset so I am not sure why it just happened or why I am so possessive right now.” I felt super embarrassed right now. I will have to call my mom and see what she thinks.
“It is fine, baby. Roger understands emotions happen, right?” Andrew stated as he brought a chair to sit by the bean bag. I smiled up at him with a thank you.
“Oh. Of course. I just hadn’t ever seen that eye color. It must be a royal thing. Sorry for making you uncomfortable.” He nodded at us before shutting and locking the door. “Let’s get this war discussion started.” He picked a spot on the couch and sat down with a notebook.
The discussion went better than I expected it to. I had no idea that Beta Trevor was such a war nerd but his inside really did help. When I mentioned letting the vampires think they are winning he just couldn’t stop with suggestions so that we could come up with plans. Alpha Roger and the Beta volunteered to go see a few of their allies to feel them out before mentioning the whole plan including that the royal line had not ended. They hated second guessing their allies but after the proof of what Oliver had done they knew it had to happen.
I really thought the Beta would be holding a grudge from dinner but everything seemed alright now. I would still be keeping an eye on him and his mate. He did mention she was a bit upset about not being involved in the meeting. Roger nipped that in the butt by asking if she had ever been involved in these meetings and when she started asking to come to them. The Beta looked ashamed when he mentioned this was the first time. I think she was thinking I had so many mates I might try to take hers but no thank you. Next time I see her I will ease her mind or at least ease mine about trying to be friends.
I mentioned finding an ally within the vampires and they both freaked out. They thought I was nuts and ended up pacing while ranting before anyone could explain. Finally they sat back down and let the twins tell them about Charles. They were finally seeing the light before we mentioned the meeting him and his clan. It went downhill after that..
“I cannot allow you to go, Ryder. You have to be kept safe at all costs and there is no way that isn’t a trap!” Roger yelled. My mates growled at him and he looked shocked.
“You are NOT my alpha. You have no say in anything I do just so we are clear. I appreciate the concern but I trust Charles. I usually get bad vibes from the bad people so I am good so far. You need to focus on cleaning your own house. I got several vibes from a few people I have seen today.” I growled out defensively.
“What? Who?” Trevor growled out. It was then I realized what I said and how I said it.
“I am so sorry I said anything. I wanted to talk to you in private. I am just so defensive and I am so sorry.” I could feel the tears coming.
“It’s ok. I know that Karen is getting under you skin so what you said is understandable. Maybe we should call it a night.” Roger stood up and stretched making sure not to look at me. I am pretty sure I pissed him off.
“Well since it seems like you don’t even want to look at me I will let you know it wasn’t just Karen or Sin that I got the bad vibes off of. Ill let you know what I hear or see so you can understand why I feel the way I do about them.” With that I told the Alpha and Beta goodnight and walked out. I could hear my mates following. One or two may have said a choice word about making me cry. I love those guys, even when they are being meat heads.
Blake caught up to me first and held my hand as we walked. “It has been a very long day. I would love to run you a hot bath with bubbles before giving you a full body massage to start my graveling.” He winked at me. Like I was going to pass up on some pampering!
“Yes, please!” The others finally caught up and looked at us.
“Yes, please what?” Asher looked at us suspiciously.
“Blake is going to take care of my every need before going back to his room since I plan on sleeping alone tonight.” I winked before running the last stretch to my room and unlocking it.
“Hey I want to help!” Both twins yelled at the same time.
“Shhhhh. It is late. People are sleeping. Maybe tomorrow night I will let someone else start making it up to me.” I grabbed Blake and pulled him into my room shutting the door and locking it. I heard a few mutters before I yelled out night! Love you!
“Dang, you have a grip on you baby!” Blake was rubbing his arm.
“You will be ok. Now on with the pampering!”
