(Book 2) – Chapter 74
“Dad, I am fine with my new beta in training and my gamma coming with us but not the warriors you want to join us.” Koda huffed at his dad. They had been arguing since we got down for breakfast and I still couldn’t tell which one was more stubborn.
“You gonna help him out or do you want the extra security?” Melissa asked me as she finished up her breakfast beside me. I couldn’t seem to let her or Alistair out of my sight for the time being so they were sitting on the two seats beside me.
“Girl, I am too tired, sore, and full to deal with that s**t. Koda can fight his own battles for now.” I g*****d rubbing my stomach. I had puked everything up this morning so I felt the need to eat extra for these dang twins.
“Sore? From puking?” She teased me knowing exactly why I was sore.
“Ha ha. You have all your mates reclaim you with their bites and their bodies in one night.” I told her with a big smile. It had been so freaking good even if I hurt everyone. “One night without sleep but totally worth it until Alpha Jerrick wanted to spare with me. That old man has some amazing moves even holding back since I am pregnant and the guys were losing their shit.”
Alistair started laughing beside Mel and we joined in. My mates looked over at us wondering what was wrong with us. I just smiled back. I was glad they understood my need to be next to another man right now without them losing their s**t. Koda was a bit stressed about it but the guys explained my past with these two and how close we had all gotten. He understood a little but I had to let him scent mark me extra good this morning after our shower together.
“Sorry, Ry. The guys were more than stressed.” He said as his laughed died down. “All of them wanted to whip his a*s for even suggesting it. They are super protective. Get ready for them to fight you every step of the way and don’t look at me to get you out of situations.”
We both glared over at him. “You are saying if Ryder needs some time with her best friends because they guys are being overbearing and making her feel useless you wouldn’t go there and take her out of that house?” She snarled out at him. I like the pregnancy on this girl. “Are you going to make my pregnant a*s do all the saving since she is outnumbered? They have already proven to be hardheaded and hurt her more than they should since they get into a pack mentality when they all agree on something she doesn’t.” She was still upset with the guys about how they acted after finding out I was pregnant and still going to fight.
Alistair looked at us with his mouth hanging open before stuffing it full of eggs and turning away from us. We knew we had won that round so a response wasn’t necessary. We just smirked and high fived.
“Are you causing trouble, my dear?” Bonnie asked as she walked up to me and gave me a quick hug. “If you are I approve. My boy needs to loosen the hell up a bit but your other mates may need a stick pulled from somewhere sometimes.” She winked at me. I knew she was joking so I wasn’t upset.
“Yea…. They are going to hate us while being pregnant.” Melissa answered. We had already planned some time with the fab four when we returned, and our mates were not invited. I was going to have to prepare a great argument and a back up plan to run when they aren’t looking.
“Good, keep them on their toes.” She said as she looked down at my plate. “Did you get enough to eat? I made sure to have all your favorites on the breakfast buffet. Morning sickness sucks, so its nice to have comfort food.”
The buffet on the side of the room was packed full of food even after everyone here had gotten a plate. “I have had three plates full of goodness.” I answered it before asking a question of my own. “What happens with the leftovers? Where does the rest of the pack eat or do they eat what is left?” I wish I had asked this before the last day.
She patted my back with a smile. “Always concerned about others is a great quality to have. No worries about the pack here. They get the same thing in the cafeteria we have. This room is just for special occasions. We usually eat with them but knowing Koda was going to be leaving, I wanted the extra time with you all.”
I stood up and hugged her hard. She is such a great mother and I just hope I can learn from her after these babies are here. I felt my tears start to come and instantly my mates were surrounding us. She giggled before stepping back. She just shook her head at all of them and walked back to her seat. Asher replaced her in giving me a hug while Kane hugged me from behind and the rest of them just squeezed in where they could.
“Ok, enough of that crying s**t. We have to finish packing and put our things in the vehicles.” Melissa yelled out. I heard the laugh in her voice so I just stuck my tongue out at her.
“And don’t forget to make room for the guys I am sending with you.” Alpha Jerrick added in as he left the room. Koda swore under his breath making all of us laugh so hard we had to let go to breathe.
“I am only letting him send your Beta, Gamma, and three warriors. It is the best I could do.” Bonnie whispered loud enough for us to hear. “Also we are sending some food with you. It is ready and waiting to head to out with you.”
“I bet it is enough to take up a whole back seat.” Knox teased Koda who laughed in agreement. I wasn’t going to argue. I was eating for three currently. My pants were already feeling a big snug.
We headed back to our room and finished packing. I was only allowed to help pack the bags. Lifting them or anything over 5lbs wasn’t allowed. I would let them have this since it made them much calmer. See, I could compromise. I heard Blue laughing at that thought. Sometimes she was such a jerk.
Between packing, loading, and saying our good-byes it only took about two hours which was great timing. The drive home was going to take us a few days with driving about 6-8 hours a day. We weren’t in a huge rush to get back since no one was in danger and as soon as we got there things were going to start getting heavy. I had all my mates in my SUV with me and it was a tight fit but no one wanted to be anywhere else. Mel and Alistair were with Greg, Koda’s beta in training, and Rav, his gamma, along with the three warriors. We didn’t have enough room for all the luggage, so Bonnie let us borrow this cool looking camping trailer that hooked onto the back of one of the SUVs.
“Be safe.” Bonnie told Koda as she hugged him for the hundredth time. I saw Jerrick holding back some tears. I would give them all the time in the world if I needed to.
One last hug for everyone and we got into the SUV’s to head home. I couldn’t help but feel this heaviness in my stomach like something was wrong. I asked Edgar if the vampires made it and he said yes. I asked Asher if he talked to the Alpha’s we spoke with and he said all was good. They would be sending half their warriors soon. The rest of them would join us a bit after that. They just needed to make sure the pack was protected and they were feeling a bit nervous about it. I suggested sending a witch to each pack to put some spells up. He turned and started making phone calls. So what could be wrong?
“Lay your head on me, baby girl.” Knox said as he pulled me closer. “It is time to turn our brains off and rest. We deserve a small break.” I smiled and passed out in minutes with my lunges pulling in each of my mates scents. Yummy.
