(Book 2) – Chapter 51
I didn’t know what to do and my anger mixed with frustration making me feel helpless and reckless. I let out a scream shoving my hands into the grass, feeling the dirt below. My magic took on a mind of its own and started pulling the life force from the ground. I could feel it flowing in my body, pulsing at the body parts that needed repaired. My energy was slowly rising, and I could feel my heart speeding up. I looked up at Asher so that maybe he would see the strength coming back and take that as a hint to find more of his own strength. The witches noticed me looking before he did and gasped causing the spell to stop working. Asher was able to shove the witch off him and stab him with his own knife before crawling toward me. The witch who had been chanting ran toward their leader but I was not going to let them gang up on us anymore.
I grabbed Asher’s hand focusing on the flow of the earths energy within me and pushed some into him. He looked at me with wide, shocked eyes but held on tighter to my hand. He put his forehead against mine and whispered that he loved me. Saving energy and holding back tears I talked to him through our connection. I sent the message to all my men and Alistair.
‘Do not give up. We will win this. I am borrowing strength and energy from the earth. First thing I am going to do is roast these spiders because they are freaking me the heck out. Second is take down the witches, only leaving the head witch slightly injured for Alistair’s kill.’
‘Blue I am sick of this back and forth game already. What do you say that we soak up as much energy as we can and then take these crazy witch bitches out?” I hold back an evil laugh since it would alert the witches to how much better I am feeling and to the fact that I am crazy.
‘I agree Ryder. I’ll do my best not to kill the leader but I sure am glad we did not make any promises to Alistair on who gets to take that witch’s head.’ I could feel her bloodlust and instead of tampering it down like I normally would I encouraged it. I felt the hunger, the power, and the raw rage right beneath my skin waiting on me to release it. I needed all the strength and the biggest balls just to do what I needed to do so it wouldn’t be long before I let go.
I looked over at Asher and noticed that his color was back and his grip on my hand was tighter so I knew that he was healed most of the way. I took stock of how my body was feeling and I was completely healed. My magic was restored, and I even had enough left over to tamper down my heat some more. I didn’t want to black out or distract my mates while we finish this off. We would deal with this heat business after our killing business.
I slowly stood up making sure to take the time to wipe my clothes off showing that none of this has upset me in the slightest. I figured it was better than me giving them the double birds while mouthing something foul.
I pushed my power at the grass and the vines that were all over the trees that surrounded us. I shoved them toward the spiders that were too close for comfort and all the ones that had followed. It wrapped around their bodies making them immobile before starting to pull tighter. The bugs exploded and died just like they should for coming near me and for having too many damn legs. As each one died It felt like I could feel their deaths but I just shook that off to the fact that there was so much going on. Maybe it was another power emerging or just guilt over the needless death that seems to follow us.
“Listen I’m completely over this fight. You guys have done a decent job of taking us on and also what a great job on leading us into a trap. I do want to know though why would you lead us into a trap if you don’t know who we are?” I put my hands on my h**s and looked at the four witches left. Two flanked each side of the lead witch and they were starting to look nervous.
“Decent job? We are winning which means this was a great plan!” The leader rolled her eyes before continuing. “We were told that in order to show our commitment we had to take out some rabid dogs and a few bloodsuckers. And look what fell into our lap when you called a few months ago. You all fell for it all hook, line, and sinker. Now we are going to finish this and be able to join the big coven.”
“So this was whole plan? The whole time?” I rolled my eyes because they were acting like it was the biggest plan ever. I made sure to look a around me to make sure everyone was standing which they were minus Melissa. She seemed to be passed out and I could see the anger coming off of Alistair. “Let us come here, attack us after letting us stay a day, and show your loyalty by killing random supernatural’s? You are definitely new to this whole game and have missed a great opportunity.”
“How would you know when we were turned to the good side of being a witch? Good opportunity?” The witch to the left of the leader spoke up.
“How do I know when you were turned into an evil hag well see the ones that have been at it a long time or a lot stronger than you, have better plans to catch people than you, and they are fugly. You guys still look a little pretty and I mean just a little. Second, I will tell you all about how important we really are when your taking your last breath. So get ready.”
