The Last Royal Luna

(Book 2) – Chapter 45

Edgar came back about an hour later which was thirty minutes too long for me to get a good feeling on it all. Asher had gotten stressed from me being stressed so I sent him out to the car to call Roger and check in. We needed to know where we stood because we only had two more packs left to visit on our list. When we make it back to our pack, we will send out two teams to hit up a few more since by then the word that I am alive and well will have gotten out no matter how hard each Alpha tries to contain their pack. It will give me more time to work with my powers to focus on more than one or two at a time unless I am in fight or flight mode.

“Look there he is!” I whisper yell at the guys as I got up and ran out to meet Edgar. I knew I was overreacting but I hated being separated from them without knowing what was going on to the fullest.

“Hey! You ok?” Edgar asked as he kissed me and held be close to his body.

“I should be asking you that question. How did that take an hour? I was about to run off and look for you!” I slapped his chest lightly letting him know I wasn’t mad at him. I was just scared.

“Sorry, it took a bit to get a hold of Robert. Trixie and Peter are in with the clans they found with the information we had. Trixie is working her way up faster than Peter but both are doing great. No one has noticed the items they are using to contact Asher’s sister with information.” He took a deep breath before adding on. “Robert couldn’t get in with that clan we sent him too. Someone recognized him and knew he wouldn’t change to the dark side so he ran. He is a few states over and found another clan. It is a bit bigger so more pressure on keeping our play quiet and making it out of there safely.”

“Well, crap. Is he going to be ok?” Blake asked as they all surrounded us.

“Should we find another good vampire clan to help out with his story and send them in?” Andrew suggested what I thought was a great idea.

“Let’s keep that in mind so we can look out for some clans while we finish up our traveling but for now, he is ok. We should see what he can do and find out.” Edgar stated as he looked down at me. I nodded in agreement. My mates knew what they were talking about so I trusted them. If I disagreed we would talk about it until we agreed on a decision.

“Ok so we know none of them have been caught and we will get information as soon as they have it. That is what is important. Asher, did you get anything from Roger?” I looked over at Asher standing a part from us. I think he was still upset at me for sending him away but I couldn’t help it.

“Roger is headed to a third pack. The first one was all for it as soon as he explained it to them and showed them everything they had even though they are a small pack. The second pack had vampires walking their border with their wolves so he couldn’t even get a word into the Alpha and he decided not to try when he noticed the Luna in town shopping with her vampire friends and laughing with a few black art witches.” I growled before I could stop myself. Edgar pulled me close kissing my neck and nodded for Asher to continue. “So they are headed to the next pack. No covens have been found and when they kept their eyes out for any clans they only found trouble so they are going to focus on the packs and covens.”

“That is good for the most part. I am sorry I sent you away but your stress was adding to mine and I was going to lose my s**t. Plus I knew you got the closest to Roger while we were there.” I stepped forward and held my arms out for a hug. He stared for a moment and my smile slipped. I was thinking he didn’t forgive me but he smiled and hugged me tight.

“Ok, lovers, let’s hit the road!” Melissa yelled as she slapped my a*s making me push farther into Asher’s body. I turned to glare at her while she laughed with her Alistair and Charles. Jerks.

We had about five hours left of the drive before we split off from Melissa’s group. The coven was a bit farther north than ours so I did a group call to play I spy between the cars. I hadn’t laughed that hard in a long time. The twins made it fun but made everyone else lose since they picked some of the dumbest things to find. It took my mind off of this coming pack. I don’t know why but I had the worst feeling about them.

“Hey, Asher. What is the name of the next pack we seeing? Also what do we know about them?” Everyone’s laughter died down at my questions and waited for the answer.

“How is it you forgot every pack we are going to see?” He growled out in frustration.

“Does it make you feel better if I forgot the name of the packs we have already been too?” He growled at that before huffing.

“We are going to the B***d Fang Pack. I have only heard bad things from them so there is little hope but the coven near by seems to be a good one so let’s keep our paws crossed.” He laughed at his little joke but I ignored him.

“I have the worst feeling about this visit but I don’t know why.” I admitted.

“It could be there name. Sounds like a scary s**t hole to me. Glad we aren’t going with you!” Melissa teased so I playfully growled at her.

“I made sure there were hotels near both places we will be just in case and we won’t unpack anything until you feel better about the pack.”

“Sounds good. I am going to take a short nap in case I need all my energy to kick some b***d fang a*s.” We all hung up and I laid my head on Edgar’s shoulder before falling asleep.
