(Book 2) – Chapter 44
A few minutes later Blake told me I could stop pretending to look when I was really looking at the sky. I couldn’t help it. He tore him into pieces but looking at Leif now it seemed he let a lot of anger out. He stood taller, more confident than before.
“Let’s get this cleaned up and then we will have a celebration before our guests leave us. Some of the omega’s will also be leaving with Dexter and I am sad to see them go. We should have been better toward them as a pack and I know we will do better from here on out!” He yelled before howling. The whole pack howled in agreement which made me smile. He was going to be a great leader to these people.
The dinner and shifting together as a pack went amazing. Blue had a blast running down her mates before taking down a few warriors. She swears it was to test their strength but really she just wanted to show off how much stronger she is than the boys. In between the food and wolf fun Leif pulled us aside to tell us he was going to join our fight. He would meet up with us when we had a better timeline and when we knew where we are going to start our attack. He did ask if we knew a trustworthy vampire who could come train with them and Edgar told him he knew a guy. I told him he sounded creepy when he talked like that but he just laughed before telling Leif more about it. I am so glad everything is coming together even dealing with all this s**t.
We made our rounds of good-byes before heading to bed. Leif made sure to hug each of my guys before hugging me even if he did hold onto me longer then he should of. He did it just to get the guys growling and heated up which it did and it made us laugh. He was a completely different guy since we first met him and it seemed that being a leader suited him better than following his dad.
The next morning we decided to make an early start along with the omegas who were headed back to our pack along with Dexter. The next pack that we were visiting was only about an 8-hour drive but I wanted to get there as early as possible hopefully this would be a quicker trip so that we can get back and start training sooner. I was starting to feel a little bit anxious about how the war was going to go.
The vampires and witches hadn’t caught wind of what we were doing yet and I really needed it to stay that way. If they found out that we were gathering forces to take on the main hub that they had everything would go down far too quick. I needed Edgar to check in with his people on the drive and I also needed to talk to the twins about things that had happened since my parents passed away with the palace and the wolves around it. So I was going to ride with the twins and Edgar while Charles rode with Melissa and Alistair.
Apparently, the next coven Charles was familiar with so he was going to go with them. He didn’t think that they were going to help us but he told us they should try anyway. We already had a few covens helping us which was awesome and they mentioned that they were going to speak to some of their friends but only their trusted friends. I made sure to make that absolutely clear for everyone and hopefully none of them trusted the wrong people.
“Are the burner phones charged? And we need a cover on why we are calling if it isn’t them that answers the phone.” Edgar asked as he starts looking through the electronics bag for them.
“They probably need a bit of charge just in case. The two batteries are in there and full of charge so use those.” I helped him find everything in the bag before sitting back in my seat. “Cover story? Maybe you are a friend whose clan turned their back on them when you mentioned changing sides? You are sick of being walked all over and wolves fearing you for no reason.”
Edgar smiled at me before agreeing that was the perfect cover story. We may even get information out of who ever answers if not one of our spies. Edgar chose to drive the first few hours so the twins and I could talk.
“So what all do you know about your parents, being a royal, or anything really?” Knox asked with a serious face.
“Not as much as I wish I did. I have heard stories of the friendship they had with my adopted parents and the great rulers they were. I have mostly focused on stories about how much they wanted me, how much they doted on me, and things like that. It makes it hurt less when I think about them.” Kane pulled me into his side and hugged me.
“Well, they really did love you from all the stories we have heard. All of your mothers’ mates loved you like they were your father. I hope that is the way it ends up with us.” Knox winked and I hit his shoulder lightly. “The palace is yours when you are ready to be queen. There is a group of elders who will verify that you are who you say you are but dad is one of them so it will be a piece of cake. A big celebration to show you off and from then on you rule. You will have a lot to do but between all your mates we can split up the duties so you aren’t stressed for time or affection.”
“Exactly. Dad said the grounds are ran the same as they have always been and it is the same packs who take care of all of it including the upkeep of the many buildings.” Kane added in.
“But what about all the other packs who could benefit from the work or the name it would give their pack?” I was wondering about all the smaller packs who were barely making it by from just starting or the vampires hurting them in more ways than one.
“That is a good point to bring up. Back when your parents ruled the packs didn’t have any many problems as they do now and when they needed help they just came to the palace to have an audience with her. That will be something you do as well so you will get to meet all the packs, help them with any problems, and change things that are hurting us as wolves in a pack.” Knox answered.
“I am just wondering what they will all think when I make changes instantly. And are you all called King because that just seems like a lot?” I snorted thinking of them all answering when some started out with the term king.
“They will have to use our names with the titles if they want to speak to a specific King or if you chose for us to reign over specific packs, covens, and clans we can add on that section of lands name to our title.” He shrugged like what he said wasn’t going to be a pain in my butt to remember.
“Keep that crap up and I may just number you King one, King two, and so on. You would be King Six!” I grumbled. Edgar busted up laughing from the driver’s seat.
Knox sticks his tongue out at me before going in depth in explaining the two wings of the palace, all the bedrooms, and the kitchen. It did mention some of it would need updating since no major changes could happen without a royal in place. It started to dawn on me what all I would need to do and to change about myself in order to take care of all the wolves. I was glad for so many mates and the fact that two of them knew what the hell I would need to do.
“Is there a teacher for this or better yet several teachers?” I gasped knowing I was going to have an anxiety attack soon.
“Calm down, baby. I will let dad know you want someone to help you and I know he will get it done. Having a teacher is a great idea. Just lay your head down and close your eyes. Breath in and out.” Knox rubbed my hands before wrapping his arm around my shoulders helping me lean into him.
Kane grabbed my feet and put them in his lap. “We have a bit before we can stop so please relax and don’t think about anything that far in the future. We are here to take care of you in any way.” He winked which made me laugh and relax a bit.
I must of fell asleep because the next thing I hear is ,“Let’s stop here. You guys go in for some lunch and I will take a quick run to make the calls. That way if it is traced it wont lead back to all of you.” Edgar only had eyes for me when telling me his plan. It took me a minute to grasp what he was talking about. When I did we all got out of the cars and I walked around to stand in front of him.
“You will make it back to me, got it?” He nodded with a smirk before a quick k**s on the cheek. He waved and ran off.
“Damn he is fast. It is crazy to me that he is faster than even my wolf. It still makes her angry.” I laughed as Blue growled at me. She knew it was the truth.
