(Book 2) – Chapter 41
I think we finally hit the pillows around five in the morning. The only reason I don’t know for sure is because I fell asleep walking into the cabin. After burning, salting, and burying the witches we had to get everyone to their homes before splitting up to do a perimeter check with Leif. I mean Alpha Leif. It is going to take a bit to get used to that improvement.
“Ryder, baby.” I felt someone rubbing my shoulders and back. “You have to get up now. You are gonna miss lunch if you stay sleep.” I m****d and swatted at the bee that was annoying me.
“Dude, I told you we should just get her a plate and hold it under her nose.” Someone laughed and snorted. I growled before trying to head back to dream land.
“I will show you how it is done.” Someone came up and picked me up bridal style with my head handing backwards.
“At least carry her with her head up. That could hurt her neck!” That voice I knew as Asher. My mother of the group.
“Shhh. I have a plan.” Now this butt munch was Knox. With him he is probably pulling a prank I will not like.
“If you put me anywhere near cold water you will be running beside the cars all the way to the next pack.” I growled out as I twisted his n****e.
He yelped and dropped me onto the hard floor. I heard some growls and yelling but I was concentrated on getting the breath back into my lungs. I was seeing some dark spots in my vision but when I turned my head to the side I saw each of the guys freaking out. None of them had ran to check on me since they were too busy fighting each other. I felt like I was raising children.
“Excuse me!!” They all shut up and looked down at me. “Somebody want to help me up and tell me what the heck is going on!” Kane rushed over and helped me stand.
“Are you ok? Do you hurt anywhere? I swear Knox is gonna get pounded even if he is my twin!” He growled as he checked me over.
“I didn’t mean to. She twisted my n****e with her nails and it hurt!” Knox defended himself from the couch. Blake was currently sitting on him as punishment.
“Would you guys grow up?! Why did I need to get up so damn early?” I walked toward the kitchen sniffing out coffee.
“Early? It is three in the afternoon. We would of left you to sleep longer since you seemed to need it but Leif wants to deal with his family drama before making some changes around here. And we need to head out tonight.” Asher rolled his eyes at me. Now that he knew I was ok he decided to go back to being my naggy mother.
“Do you know what I call you in my head, Asher?” I smirked knowing he was about to get super pissed.
“Perfect. Love muffin. Sexiest mate ever.” He smiled at his jokes.
“I call you mother. Not just any mother my nagging, annoying, overprotective, pain in my a*s mother.” He gasped at that.
“Take it back. I am not the mother of this group!” The guys started mumbling that they agreed with me and he just crossed his arms and huffed.
“Sorry, stud muffin. It is true. Half the time it’s a good thing because it makes us better together as a group. The other times like now being a jerk trying to wake me up without coffee and not caring that I was just dropped on the floor makes me want to twist your n*****s, too!” I opened the fridge and found some cold coffee. “Yummy. I am going to inhale this and take a quick shower before we head up. I want to rub it in that I got a shower today and feed more than shitty prison food.”
“Petty much, baby!” Blake laughed.
“She touched what was mine, Blake. How would you like it if someone touched me?” He growled and I smiled. “Exactly. Now shut it.” I stuck my tongue out to add to the immature factor and we all busted up laughing.
I chugged the coffee making sure everyone of them knew I needed more as soon as we got up to the pack house for lunch. My body felt so wore out and weak. It needed some rest after dealing with all the stress, shitty people, shitty situations, and my powers growing stronger every day. I took longer in the shower then I was going to but it felt so good on my back muscles. I also needed time to decide Faith and Diamonds fate since Leif wanted to get it over with first thing. He was probably right but I just hadn’t gotten over the whole killing without a fight first thing.
I was still debating as we made it up to the pack house. Blake had to nudge me away from walking into a tree a few times, but he didn’t ask any questions. I think they all knew what was waying on my mind. I knew if I talked to them about it they would want to do it for me but I was the Princess and I could not afford to look week while first coming out that I was alive and well.
“Have you heard from Alistair and Melissa? Charles?” I asked them. I figured I would talk to them about it and see what they said. I knew they would say at least death for Faith but I had no clue on Diamond.
“They are inside waiting for us. Normally the kitchen would be closed right now but Nina made us something special as a thank you.
We just had to wait on your lazy booty to get up.” Andrew pinched my butt before running inside.
I ran after him laughing and threatening to end his chance at being a father. We made it into the dining room at the same time with me shoving him to the floor and standing on his pack. I started saying that I was king of the mountain while he kept saying he couldn’t breathe. I didn’t notice the table full of people staring at us.
“Ryder, as much as we love that you took down one of your mates could you come sit down so Nina can serve our food?” Charles asked with an attitude.
I looked up and saw Melissa, Alistair, Charles, Leif, Dexter, along with a couple warriors. Well poop on a stick this was embarrassing. I stepped off of Andrew and smiled at them all.
“Sorry about that. Sometimes a girl has to put their mates in their place.” I winked back at my guys before focusing on the table of laughing friends.
“Ryder! Sit by me! Please! Please!” Dexter kept yelling and wiggling in his seat.
“Of course, my good sir. Please remove the person sitting next to you so I can.”
“Deal!” He looked at the warrior giving him his best glare.
The guy snickered before going back to talking to his buddy. That was the wrong thing to do. Dexter put his finger in his mouth before shoving it into the warrior’s ear. The guy squealed like a pig getting stuck with a fork. He looked at Dexter and you could see the revenge in his eyes. Oh hell no.
I nodded for the guys to sit down while I walked up behind him and Dexter. “I wouldn’t even think about it. Id boil your b***d while it is still inside your body right where you sit. Got it?” I whispered in his ear. I knew the other wolves would hear but Dexter wouldn’t since he was still just a pup.
The warrior got up and sat down at the other end. Smart man in my opinion. I sat down next to Dexter and smiled down at him. “Ok I am sitting so someone tell me what Nina made us! I am starving and I need a coffee IV stat!”
“Your funny, Ryder.” Dexter laughed at me.
Leif looked over at me and smiled. “You are in luck. Nina makes the best brisket with homemade mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, and green beans. She also made snacks for the omegas who are going back to your pack and for you guys on the road.”
I stiffened at the fact that the omegas were going with us but I didn’t know how Leif was going to treat them either. “I am sorry we are leaving you in a bind but they really do deserve better treatment.”
“I understand. Things will be changing around here. Also a few of them asked me this morning if they could stay and I told them I would talk to you.”
“I think that is great. I want to hear it from them and get a few promises from you that it will change. It is their life and their happiness is what counts. I think you will do great things with this pack.” I smiled before starting in on his family. “So I know we need to discuss your mother and sister but I would like to eat first. Is that ok?”
“Sounds good.” He smiled at me and we both turned our smiles onto Nina when she walked in with some delicious smelling food.
