(Book 2) – Chapter 35
It took over an hour to explain what I had Charles doing with searching for vampires around the cities closest to us, why I didn’t tell them before taking action, and that I didn’t hold out on them on purpose. I knew either way they were going to get hurt by my decision to not instantly trust an Alpha and put my trust in Charles or to not tell them until I had to. I am glad I did it. I just hated the hurt and disappointed looks they were giving me.
“I am so sorry that my decision hurt you guys but I don’t regret my decision. I had this nagging feeling I should be using all the resources I had and Charles is one of those. I had planned to tell you after we got settled but everything has been such a s**t storm I didn’t have the chance. Now we need to decide what we are going to do about the Luna calling out a hit on me and the fact that they plan on doing it tonight with the approval of the Alpha.” Blue was whimpering that we hurt our mates but there was nothing I could do to fix it at this moment. We barely had any time before dinner and I still needed to speak with the omegas.
“I am trying to wrap my head around it as fast as I can. Give me a damn minute!” Asher barked out before walking out of the cabin.
I understand he is pissed but it didn’t even affect him. If Charles found nothing, then it was just a precaution and I looked like a b***h. He did find something, so it looks like I prepared well. I know I get upset when they make decisions for me and don’t listen to anything I have to say but this decision didn’t involve them. I feel like I need to discuss with them when I need tampons and when I want to change brands so we can weight the pros and cons together. s**t, I sound like a brat.
“You coming up to the house?” Edgar stuck his head into the cabin with a half-smile. “What you did was the right thing. It just sucks that we didn’t think of it to protect you and that we didn’t know about it. We will do plenty in the future just like this and plenty worse.” He walked back out.
I laughed before running out the door to grab his hand and walk up together. I needed to get some alone time with my hybrid so I can get to know him and see what all we have in common. His laugh is one of the best I have ever heard and I hope we can laugh most of our lives together.
Nina was in the kitchen talking in hushed voices with other workers. They all seemed tense and a bit scared which did not sit well with me. I knocked on the door and they all looked over at me with fear in their eyes and one of them had a handprint on their face. I rushed over, grabbing their face, and turning it to look at it closely.
“Princess, can you step back from her? She is shaking in fear and I need my friend calm.” Nina said as she put a hand on my arm softly.
I backed up but didn’t’ stop staring at the hand print. It was a female from the size of it. “Who?”
“It was an accident. It won’t happen again.” The omega mumbled looking at the ground.
“I asked Who did this to you?”
“Please. I don’t want to get in trouble.”
I looked at Nina before speaking again. “There is a pack meeting in an hour and I want all the omegas there. I know that someone probably told you it doesn’t concern you but it does. I am going to offer all of you a place in my pack so you can see how omegas should be treated. Just know we would be leaving right after the meeting and my mother plus our female Alpha will be waiting to take you in.” I had hope in my eyes and Nina had pure happiness.
“How? The Luna would never allow it. The Alpha is already threatening to put his youngest son in the dungeon so that Leif will stay. I heard Dexter crying under his bed and I tried to make him feel better. That is when this happened. The Luna slapped me for babying him.” The omega with the handprint said as she grabbed my hand.
“I overrule the Alphas as the Princess. The Alpha and Luna are about to get a rude awakening. Just be safe and make sure all of the omegas are at the meeting. I will make sure no one bothers you as the meeting progresses. Deal?” They all nodded and went back to refilling the buffet line of food. They had made several types of pizza and I was stoked.
I went and sat down by my mates. They all looked at me and I was half tempted to leave before Asher put a over filled plate in front of me while Blake put a huge bowl of ranch beside it. My eyes filled with tears and they all laughed at me. Food is one of my love languages and this ranch made me the happiest.
“I love you all. I am sorry about earlier. From now on I will try to talk to you about any decisions I make, ok?” They all nodded.
“Ok, so I have made a few more since we talked twenty minutes ago. I am going to offer all the omegas a place in our pack at the meeting.”
“Are you sure? I bet the Alpha and Luna are going to hate that.” Knox asked. They were all still smiling so I assumed they all liked the idea.
“Yes. Also I am not going to divulge all that we know about their traitorous asses because I want them to hang themselves with the pack. I need that trust gone so we can put someone in charge that would make this pack thrive. I will be making some changes but one a tweak here and there as they come to me.”
“We have your back. You have this.” Edgar grabbed my hand from across the table and squeezed.
“Charles will be here shortly. He also had a b***d bag for you, baby. I don’t mind you taking it from me but I need to be full strength. Once we leave here after the meeting I can top you off at the hotel.” He nodded before licking his lips. Yummy. “Also I have a side mission. It seems the Alpha and Luna don’t care much about Dexter. Not sure why but he is locked in his room with the Alpha telling Leif he will put him in the dungeon if he leaves so Dexter will be going with us.”
“In all honestly, I don’t think he is theirs. They have blonde hair and his is red. I saw him playing by himself today and it seems the children won’t go near him. I asked another kid about it and they said they are told not to play with him because he wasn’t wanted by his parents so the Luna took him in. That there is something wrong with him.” Knox whispered. He was the guy who could get information out of anyone.
“If we weren’t traveling like we are Id make him ours in a heartbeat. Let’s contact your sister and see what she says about a place for him. Worse case he travels with us for a bit.” They nod before eating again.
There isn’t a room in the pack house big enough for the meeting so it is being held outside. Everyone stands in the crowd including their children. It seems some of them are tired and the other half too much energy. I look over to find the omegas walked over last minute and placed themselves in one big group. I could see the pack eyeing them. It seems this pack had learned to treat them like crap.
The Alpha and Luna made sure they had seats on the deck so they were above everyone and comfortable. “Ok. Everyone calm down. Let’s get this meeting started. First off, why are you omegas here?” He looked down on them and waited for an answer.
“I invited them. This is a PACK meeting and they are part of the Pack regardless of what you think. They have all sworn in to join the pack and to follow you as the Alpha.” I stated before he could make them feel even more uncomfortable.
“Actually I haven’t even had them sworn into the pack. Only the strong get sworn in so that our bond has no weakness.” He gloats but he faile to notice my glee.
“Well thank goodness. You made this next part so much easier.” I looked at the omegas. “How would you all like to join my pack? You would be sworn in, given jobs you want, and treated with respect?” I heard the Luna gasp as she started yelling for the Alpha to do something but there was nothing he could do. He made the mistake of not taking care of all of his pack.
Nina walks forward with her back straight and her shoulders pulled back so she looked powerful and serious. “We accept your offer, Princess Ryder. I will take them to pack so we can leave as soon as possible.” I nodded at them with a huge smile before looking back at the pack. “You all think you are so strong because of your leaders but you just let the backbone of your pack walk away. You will know plan everything yourself, cook for yourself, clean, carry your wounded from the fields while whoever is left fights, and much more. Think about all the things they did for you.”
The crowd started yelling but I wasn’t even going to deal with it. Their children should have to deal with this. “Shut your pie holes!” I used my power and instantly no sound came out of their mouths even as they moved them. “Your children shouldn’t have to listen to you b***h that you can’t take care of yourselves and that your super whiny about it. Who here is the daycare teacher?”
She raised her hand and went to talk but she couldn’t. I sent a small wave of my magic to her throat which made it so she could talk. She mentioned she was the owner and a teacher there. She used to be an omega at another pack who was just as bad and was grateful for my offer for the omegas here.
“I am glad I am able to offer that. Will you take the children inside for story time and a snack?” She nodded yes before beckoning them to follow. The parents let them go knowing she would keep them safe.
The Alpha stood up and got in my face. I could see the veins popping in his forehead from anger. “This is my pack and I give the orders around here. My omegas won’t be leaving.”
“You may be Alpha but I am the Princess. I have six mates and several powers that I haven’t shown yet. I know how to be loyal and how to treat my people. Your whole family are spoiled rotten who only care about themselves minus Leif. Dexter isn’t even yours!” I shouted.
“What is she talking about, Alpha?” Someone in the crowd yelled. “You said someone stole him from you at birth and you just got him back a few months ago!”
“Yeah. Tell her she doesn’t know what she is talking about.” Another one yelled.
“Well, are you going to tell me I don’t know what I am talking about or are you going to tell your pack the truth? Leif and Dexter already know since I sent a note to Leif when I found out.” I smirked when he looked at me with so much rage I thought his head might burst open.
