Chapter 4
Chapter 4 A Village Doctor?!
“Hang on…”
Rebecca took out a tiny bag from her small suitcase. When she opened it, Levi saw that it contained silver needles of various thicknesses. Is this woman actually capable?
When Rebecca walked up to Levi with the needles and lowered her head to examine his legs, Levi finally saw her features.
Levi face-palmed in exasperation. What sort of wife had Maurice gotten for him? She wasn’t a pretty sight to behold.
At that moment, Rebecca was focused on Levi’s legs. His legs proved to be difficult to treat, and it didn’t look like normal paralysis.
She would have to treat him first before making a proper diagnosis.
She raised her gaze, finally catching a break to take a good look at him.
His features were perfect, and he looked quite domineering. His facial contours were sharp with firm lines, and the stern aura he emanated came with feelings of nobility and standoffishness.
It was a pity that he was paralyzed, but he was lucky to have encountered her.
“I’m inserting the needles now. It might hurt a little, so please endure it.”
“Wait.” When Levi saw the thin and sharp needles, he gulped and stared at Rebecca somewhat doubtfully. “Do you have a doctor’s license?”
Rebecca froze. She had a professor’s license; if he were to seek her through regular means, he might have to wait months in line.
However, Levi wouldn’t believe her based on how she was dressed right now.
“I left my license back in the village, but don’t worry, I can cure your illness.”
When she took out the first needle, her hand trembled, and the needle almost fell to the ground.
“Sorry, sorry. It’s been a while since I last performed acupuncture, so I’m feeling slightly nervous.”
Levi’s expression darkened. Was she nervous, or was she just trying to trick him?
When Rebecca held the needle and got ready to insert it, Levi suddenly gripped her wrist.
She looked at him in bewilderment, her eyebrows furrowing.
“Make no mistake—we’ve asked almost all renowned doctors, both local and foreign, to cure my legs.”
Could she do it with her amateurish skills?
Rebecca questioned, “Are you sure you’ve talked to all the famous doctors you can find?”
She was very sure that she wasn’t on the list.
When Rebecca mentioned that, Levi recalled one certain doctor. Maurice said that the doctor was often away, but she managed to be a professor at a young age. She truly was a rare genius in the medical field.
Many well-known universities wanted to hire her as an associate dean, but she declined all offers.
She was quite the mysterious figure.
The doctor seemed to share the same last name as the woman in front of him, but he didn’t recall her full name.
Nonetheless, that didn’t have anything to do with her.
When Rebecca saw him pondering, she didn’t want to waste any more time and slapped his leg.
“Well, time is ticking.”
With that, she picked up the needle and pierced all acupoints. When she was done, Levi peered at Rebecca and found that she had pierced the needles in all the right spots.
He didn’t know much about medicine, but he could tell that the woman was piercing the same spots as the doctors before her.
Well, since many had failed to cure him, it wouldn’t hurt to let her have a go.
Rebecca had just completed the procedure and was about to tidy up when someone barged into the room.
“Levi—”
The visitor was Levi’s second sister, Kayla Foley. When she saw the needles in Rebecca’s hand, her expression shifted as she rushed forward and pushed Rebecca away.
“You evil woman! Are you trying to kill my brother as soon as you walk in?!”
Caught off guard, Rebecca was pushed to the floor, and Kayla noticed Rebecca’s face. Kayla covered her mouth as if she’d seen a ghost.
“My goodness, is Grandpa crazy? Even if Levi is paralyzed, he’s setting the bar too low!”
