Chapter 13
Chapter 13 You? Protect Me?
Had Rebecca forgotten Levi’s earlier words?
Rebecca thought that they had gotten a little closer since she was treating his legs. This might be a chance for her, so even if she couldn’t get detailed information from him, she could try gleaning a vague idea from him.
“Let me massage your legs. This will help you recover too. I know an exclusive technique, and it’s guaranteed to make you feel good.”
Levi choked on his water as a weird look appeared on his face.
Rebecca noticed that and hastily patted his back.
“Take your time. No one’s stealing your water.”
When Levi calmed down, he suddenly gripped Rebecca’s hand and pulled her toward him. Caught off guard, Rebecca lost her balance as her lips rammed against his chin.
Both of them froze in their places.
Levi stared at the dark skin of her face. Her heavy bangs covered most of her forehead along with her black-rimmed glasses. He was suddenly curious to see how she looked without those glasses.
He slowly reached out, and his fingertips had just touched the rim of her glasses when Rebecca quickly reacted and pushed him away.
Levi was caught by surprise and swayed a little from the force, but he still maintained his balance in the end.
Rebecca looked at him warily. “Why are you trying to take off my glasses?”
“I just want to see my wife’s true colors. Are you hiding something from me?”
Rebecca felt her heart racing when he looked at her, and she quickly adjusted her glasses.
“I’m horrendous, so you shouldn’t look at me. Otherwise, you might not want your dinner later.”
Levi had never met someone who described themselves like that.
“Other girls try to look pretty, but what about you? You wear such old-fashioned clothes, and you refuse to let others look at you. Isn’t that suspicious?”
Rebecca feared that Levi might pester her until she relented, so she waved her hand as if it didn’t matter.
“My looks aren’t important as long as I can cure your legs.”
She wouldn’t stay in the Foley Family forever, and she planned on leaving sooner or later. If they met again in the future, things would turn awkward.
Levi was an impatient man in terms of work, but this time, he decided to take it slow.
She was his wife, after all. He had all the time in the world to ask questions.
He raised an eyebrow at her. “You’re going to massage your husband’s legs, aren’t you?”
Rebecca looked at him in confusion.
“Didn’t you say that it’s not necessary?”
“Since when? I just want to tell you that from now on, you can only make me feel good and no one else.”
Rebecca realized what was going on, as well as why Levi would react so strongly just now. It was all because of his pride.
Some men would behave like this. They didn’t necessarily like their woman, but their pride and possessiveness were terrifyingly strong.
Levi was probably one such person.
Still, he looked cold and arrogant on the surface as if nothing could affect him, so Rebecca was surprised to find that he was capable of jealousy.
She had never gotten close to other men before, for she felt that men were boring creatures who only acted according to the lower half of their bodies.
The only exceptions were the dense guys around her who knew nothing of romance and fully devoted themselves to earning money.
She grinned as she pointed at Levi. “You’re jealous! The eldest young master of the Foley Family is jealous!”
Now that Rebecca had seen through his thoughts, Levi struggled to maintain his pride, so he reached out and pinched her cheek.
“I just don’t like other people touching what’s mine. Don’t overthink things.”
Rebecca smiled, her eyes turning into crescents. “Don’t worry, I agree with you. Even though we don’t have much of a relationship, we’re still legally married. Relax, dear, I’ll protect you.”
Levi scoffed.
“You? Protect me?”
It wasn’t that he looked down on her; it was just the simple truth.
Rebecca blinked at him mischievously.
“Thanks to me, you learned that someone is trying to harm you in the shadows.”
Levi was speechless, for he knew about that already.
If he didn’t even figure that out, he probably deserved it.
However, Rebecca was behaving so proudly that he found it interesting, so he decided not to tell her for now.
That night, after dinner, Levi summoned Percy to his room. After Percy went in, he could feel something wrong with the atmosphere.
His expression was stern as he said to Levi respectfully, “Mr. Foley, is there something you want me to do?”
The gentleness in Levi’s eyes during the afternoon had completely vanished. A cold aura emanated from Levi as if he were an emperor.
“Spread the word that my legs are gradually recovering.”
Percy failed to understand. “If we do that, once the person knows about it, they’ll figure out more ways to harm you.”
