Chapter 12

Chapter 12 No Other Identities

Levi wasn’t surprised by the results. Judging by the positions of the needles and how skilled Rebecca’s movements were, she probably knew what she was doing.

However, if all those famous doctors couldn’t cure him, could Rebecca do it?

More importantly, Rebecca only performed acupuncture on him twice, but he already felt some senses returning to his legs even though it was hardly noticeable.

He had a feeling this girl was no ordinary person. If she were a common doctor, he wouldn’t have senses returning to his legs so soon.

“You can’t find anything on her after that, you say?”

“Yes, everything after that turned up blank.”

Levi’s gaze was complicated. “That means there’s still something going on. Keep digging, and don’t stop until you’ve found something!”

Percy nodded. “Understood.”

Just then, the door was pushed open. Rebecca stood boldly at the door with an undisturbed look on her face.

“Are you talking about me?”

Percy coughed awkwardly. He never met someone as straightforward as her before.

In such a situation, any normal person would just avoid the topic. This new addition to the Foley Family was quite different.

Levi narrowed his eyes. “Did you hear all of that?”

Rebecca pushed the door wider, then closed it as she walked up to Percy and took the papers from him.

“What—”

“Relax, it’s not some secret anyway. I understand that you want to investigate my background, but you can just ask me if you have any doubts.”

With that, Rebecca sat down by the bed and reached out to hold Levi’s arm. “We’re married now, so we should be honest with each other, yes?”

There was an awkward expression on Percy’s face. Rebecca was smiling, but for some reason, he felt terrified.

“Mr. Foley, I’ll be leaving now. Call me if you need anything.”

Levi didn’t make a sound, but it also meant that he had no objections.

After Percy closed the door, Levi lowered his head and glared at Rebecca’s hand which was still holding his arm.

“Let go.”

He sounded like he would not take no for an answer.

Rebecca noticed that Levi didn’t like people touching him, but she hadn’t done it on purpose. She just wanted to help him out after seeing him and Percy working so hard to figure out her background.

She let go of him and pouted.

“Alright.”

Levi tilted his head. Just then, he noticed the skin behind her ears looked so pale that it seemed to shine. Why was her face another color, then?

Could it be that she was hiding something from him after all?

As he pondered, he slowly reached out toward Rebecca and brushed away the strands of hair resting on her shoulder with his fingertips. He pinched her ear to discover that there was no residue on his hand. It proved that it was her actual skin tone, but what about her face?

His hand almost touched her face, but Rebecca dodged it in time. She looked warily at Levi.

“Why did you touch my ear?”

Levi stared at her with a glint in his eyes as he said matter-of-factly, “You’re my wife, so it’s only normal that I touch you.”

Even if he carried out the married couple’s ritual with her, it would be the most natural thing in the world, much less touch her ear.

Rebecca looked up at him with her crystal-clear eyes.

“I simply took your hand just now, but you reacted strongly as well.”

“It’s always like that for me.”

“I don’t like other people touching me either. Even if you’re my husband, we’re not that close to each other.”

Rebecca returned his logic right back at him.

Levi didn’t expect Rebecca to be so quick to retort. With her around in the future, he was sure that he could avoid some unnecessary trouble.

Since she was already married into the family, he should make full use of her.

He avoided the topic from before. “Now, can you tell me what other identities you have?”

Rebecca had no intention to keep deceiving him. If she couldn’t gain the patient’s trust, she couldn’t carry on with the treatment.

More importantly, she was worried that if Levi kept investigating, he might unearth her other identities. It would cause even more trouble then.

“I worked at a hospital before, but I went in through the back door. My grandmother was a doctor, so most of my medical knowledge came from her.”

Levi was doubtful.

“That’s it?”

“Do you think I’m some amazing person, then? Don’t worry, if I were a prominent figure, I’d definitely help you out.”

With that, she casually patted Levi on the shoulder.

Levi was speechless.
