The Kiss that Sparked it All

Chapter 2862

Chapter 2862
When the Tanner family was on the brink of disaster, he wondered how she would continue her career as a journalist without his
support. After all, he didn’t give his daughter all those privileges for nothing. It was about time she started to pay him back for his
generosity.
Francis didn’t feel a shred of guilt as he drove toward the Harris Group headquarters. Spotting a familiar car searching for a
parking spot nearby, he couldn’t help but smirk. His daughter, bless her heart, was always thinking about Nolan, even choosing a
meeting spot within a stone’s throw for fear that he’d be inconvenienced by a longer walk. But she forgot something: if a man
wasn’t willing to walk a few extra steps, how deep could his affection be?
He shook his head; his daughter was naive. Luckily, as her father, he was there to watch over her. If she was smitten with Nolan,
well then, marrying him wouldn’t make her lose out.
Regina, after arriving at a café, was a bundle of nerves. She bit her lip and looked around anxiously. She wasn’t sure Nolan had
even received her message-after all, texts didn’t come with read receipts.
And after what her father had done, she wasn’t sure Nolan would be willing to meet with her. If she were in his shoes, she
doubted she could forgive so easily.
Ten minutes ticked by before Nolan finally descended from his office tower. Regina’s eyes up when his tall figure appeared in the
doorway of the café. She craned her neck toward him like a fawn, her gaze following his every move until he sat down across
from her.
“I’m glad you decided to come,” she couldn’t help but show him a glad smile.
Nolan’s face was impassive. “Didn’t you say you had something important to give me?” he asked.
Regina nodded hastily, “Yes, I do have something for you!”
She reached into her purse and pulled out that small chip, clutching it in her hand before passing it over. She hesitated, biting her
lip before awkwardly speaking up, “Before I give this to you, could you let me explain? Even those facing the gallows get a
chance to plead their case.”
Nolan gave a slight nod on seeing her pitiful expression.

Grateful for the opportunity, Regina began, “I don’t know how my father got his hands on that surveillance footage, or why he
altered it and used it to threaten you and your family. I had no part in it. Meeting you was a complete accident. I never meant to
blackmail you for any advantage. I just wanted to clear that up.”
Only then did Nolan look at her seriously, “Can I still trust what you’re saying?”
Regina felt a pang of sorrow and embarrassment. If it weren’t for her father’s actions, he wouldn’t ask her this way. And that
meant he had trusted her before.
She nodded fervently, “Of course you can trust me. I’ve never been involved in anything like that. I’ve been in the hospital all this
time-you can check the hospital’s surveillance to confirm it. I haven’t been in contact with my father at all, except for the first day
when he dropped me off. I just want you to know that whatever my father has done, it’s not what I wanted to see. Nor would I
ever try to manipulate you with such despicable methods.”
Regina offered a wan smile, “Besides, how could I possibly want to hurt you if I’m so into you?”
Nolan hadn’t expected to hear such a confession from Regina.
