The Inauguration

Chapter 16

With the council disbanded, a new council was needed and Lucius already knew what to do next.

When the councilmen were escorted out of the hall, he had grabbed the attention of the room, standing where the men had previously kneeled.

“As results have been drawn, we are short of a council and I suggest that the new council be the packs standing in this room. You all did an impeccable job at serving Justice and governing what is right and what isn’t, so why not?”.

There were a few mutterings between packs as they thought the matter over and Lucius could not be more glee knowing everything was coming together. He watched as the idea he had proposed sprouted in their minds and flourish and he knew that it was already done.

“And I would like to ask for something from the new council, something really small. I would like for my pack to be recognized as a true pack”, he said his voice humble as stared into each and every one of their eyes.

“No”,

“I agree”,

Both Melinda and Elina answered his question.

Melinda scowled at Elina before turning back to Lucius with a gracious smile, nodding, “I don’t hear any valid objections and besides if it wasn’t for you we’d all still be sheep to those pathetic wolves”, her strong accent projecting itself only emphasizing her dislike to what had transpired.

He turned from the hall, heading home to his pack to deliver the great news. All while knowing and feeling the eyes of his mate, but he didn’t want to focus on that now, he would return for her.

And that was a promise.

“The True Beginning”

She walked towards the hallway and heard him and Lugar talk for a few minutes. How he thanked Lugar for his hospitality and hopes they could work together well in the future.

She shook her head and went to the kitchen to distract her mind from the male that was about to leave her. She was so lost in trying so hard that the problem of all her pain was standing right behind her.

“I imagined you more as a strawberry lover, birdy”, the sound of his voice sent chills down her spine and she found herself frozen. She felt him come closer, his hand reaching over her shoulder as his breathing fans her cheeks. He inhales deeply as if savouring her scent and the heat he releases that envelops her makes her want to jump him now and never leave his side.

But he breaks away and pops a grape in his mouth,” but we have our favourite fruits,” he says and she could hear the smile in his voice.

He tucks his head in between her neck, inhaling deeply again before whispering in her ear, “I will be back birdy, just be ready for me” and with that, he was gone.

She felt the tightness around her chest and the heaviness in her heart as she knew the truth in his words. She would have to wait for him, but at the same time, his words gave her hope. He didn’t reject her, he wanted her and for now, that would do.

“Stop daydreaming about something you will never have Solani,” the voice sends her standing stiff, ” I will make sure you pay for what you did, even if that means making sure he never returns to you”.
