Chapter Their Plans
Thankfully, our route should avoid Dagestan, but our best route is through other packs I have no idea about. I have time to really look into things and the guys knew where all the packs and clans were and added those to the maps. We avoided Moldova and went around just straight to Ukraine. The next rest point won't be for a few days minus stops for gas and food. I got through a good few of the journals.
This next one spoke of vampires. There was spells for them as well. How to award them the ability to walk in the sun. She speaks of doing this for Vlad's son, the Impaler, and great regret for it. Also, a spell to make them loose the ability to feed on a human. The next page after shook me. Vladimir used her to help him torture his children.
I had to understand why she would do this, but she answered. She needed to understand as well as him. The only thing is, many things she kept from her brother as well or lied to him. She didn't feel he should know some of the things she had learned. He stayed close to his sister through out the years and didn't wish anyone to know.
When Caterina and her husband had passed, leaving 3 small children, it was Anca to asked Vladimir to take them. She felt they would be more protected with him and teach him value. It had until they left him for their own families. She was the one who brought him his wife as well. A demon. It is as if she had everything mapped out for what she foresaw. Marrying her brothers off to polar opposites as they were also polar opposites.
Many of his children, especially the girls, were more so demon than vampire. That was even the case with Vlad III. She also talks about how he had a wife when she first introduced the two. A vampire he sired and couldn't bare him children. Anca talked her brother into being as evil as he seemed by getting him to want his wife dead and take on his mistress as his wife. It helped that he had an heir coming through her.
We were at a gas station we found and decided to stock up. I stopped Dracula, "She saw it all and planned your lives for you. You knew most of it, but to what extent?"
"I knew she planned for me to have children and keep up my blood line. She knew my children were evil and earth was not a place for them. I made many mistakes, but I have blamed her for most. When it comes to it though, I knew she saw something and had plans. She warned me about the future one day and how we needed an heir that met all of our abilities, including the angelic and demonic. I knew one day you would come. That's why I waited until your mother was born to kill her mother. She was just one witch that was related to Anca. She had planned to use her child for gain and kill off any other bloodlines I have. Of course, Henry had other children by the way. You aren't his only grandchild, but because of his love for his daughter, you were his favorite." He looked at me like he was fighting to tell me more.
"He came to me and told me what had actually happened. He knew you left your pack young and why. When he discovered you were pregnant, he asked if he could take you in. I denied it for years. I gave him permission to take your child to raise. I knew you wouldn't keep the child and in the long run hope it was safe. It was mainly me watching over him honestly. I would visit ever so often and make sure Henry would be treating him right. I'm sorry if you were upset by any of it. Anca told me you had to struggle, so I had to allow the struggle and the things Henry did wasn't as bad as his father, nor me. I do hope you can forgive me for my part in everything. Including-" He looked like he was fighting himself with this all.
"What? I know what done is done. The best thing right now is honesty between us all." I urge him.
"You may hate me for my part. Tempesta was an amazing woman, but she was in love with a man that couldn't love her forever. She almost lost you at birth and I was present. I have some powers to give strength from one to another and she asked me to take her strength and give it to you. I knew with how weak she was that it would probably kill her, but you had to survive. It would also be a struggle to be raised as a bastard child in a pack without your mother alive. It was the best decision. The day you were born, I took your mother's life for your's." He looks me in the eyes. I'm stunned.
"You did what she asked you to do. No one would blame you in the position you were in. Did Lycious know any of it?" I wondered.
"He, I believe, had his part as well. He made sure you would be safe as a rogue, I think. In all, you should ask him." At that moment, Lycious comes back.
"Ask me what?" Smiling and casual as he was, I even contemplated asking him.
"Anca warned you both about me at one point. So, you each played some sort of roll already. What have you done?" I look at him with worry.
"I- I may have sent Zoe to you. I asked the moon goddess for her mate to be one of the boys with you and she allowed the favor and then I decided to visit her pack. I found her and gave her a spell to find her mate that Anca had given me. I, also made sure you guys always had some sort of job to get. I heard what Silver had done, if you hadn't done what you had done, their fate would have been much worse." He seemed to have been still keeping a bit of info from me.
"Theo?" It hit me.
"Yes. I knew he had his issues like his own father and had it fixed into his head by controlling his wolf that he wanted you. It wasn't the first wolf I convinced without even meeting. I have a past, and I stand by my actions. If he hadn't done what he did, you wouldn't have had your struggles and you wouldn't have the skills you do now." He tries to sell it.
"I think I will ride in back for a bit." I say and climb in the back of the truck next to Dracula. At least he didn't ruin my life, he saved it.
