Chapter Hide In The Hills of California
Ryanne pulls the car to some gates to some major amount of land."Hello, L.A." I whisper. You would never think a wolf pack could be in a huge sunny city like this, but it's been common. Usually the main pack house is located in the city. My dad had pack houses throughout his territory. He just settled on the middle-of-nowhere was the best spot to keep his family like his father had done. Some packs do that, but some move to another of their pack houses to become a main. We had one even in Las Vegas, but it was a casino and that wouldn't be a good idea to raise a family and then the farther north ones had their own issues as well.
"Welcome to what I call home. And before you ask, yes pretty much most of Los Angeles is apart of our pack. The Hollywood scene is full of celebrity wolves that want to stay with a pack and are transferred here. It's annoying most of the time." He let's out a sigh. Well, if they have them so often I can see. To transfer from one pack to another can be difficult. You have to be sure so the bond can break. You literally have to become a rogue. Then, you have to meet the new pack Alpha and Betta. There is so much more to do other than just run in the moon light and here of all places I don't see how that is even a capable thing half the time.
Jaxon is already out side with a few others standing outside, as we finally get through what feels like the longest driveway I have every seen. Ryanne opens his door as Jaxon opens mine. The men get started unloading our belongings.
"So, straight to business?" Jaxon says with a smirk.
"Where the hell are these papers?" Both Ryanne and I say in unison.
Jaxon laughs as he motions us to follow and leads us inside. There was a mass of papers and the file cabinets where being sorted into boxes all over in, what I take is the living room.
"There wasn't much space in any office as you can see so we have been using the space we could. Don't be surprised if you find some files in a bathroom. But here this whole file cabinet drawer is full with papers like this one here on the floor. It's there because of the incident. Hence the scorch marks on your marble flooring, Ry." Jaxon just giggles and Ryanne rolls his eyes.
"Scorch marks on the marble may be the least of our problems. Though that will need to start being looked into being dealt with. Ok, Az, grab it." He says nodding his head towards the paper with the black mess around it on the floor.
I walk over to it and bend down. The words are simple and look to be english. I just pick it up, no flames.
"I see english here and no fire." I say and Ryanne walks behind me, lookingover my shoulder.
"As we thought. It's a Demon thing." Ryanne let's out a sigh of relief and rolls his eyes yet again.
"Holy shit, girl, you a demon too? Damn! You truly got something as a mate!" Jaxon starts laughing after patting Ry's shoulder.
"So, since no one can touch this, it's all yours. Probably best if you move it all into my office so you can read in peace. While you read, I can look at pack requests in my emails. Maybe we can help eachother not be bored out of our minds." Ryanne says to me as I pick up the drawer that was pulled out.
"You mean you will probably be less bored and frustrated. I get to read a text only I can read while you get to deal with tell someone to suck it up and get along or no you can't shoot a porno in a school!" I laugh because that last one was one of Colson's first opened requests he got as Alpha and I was so glad I got to be there for that one!
"God, you have no idea how much of that is pretty much all I deal with! I just sending back a denial or ignore the crap all together. All things wolf related goes through me first before the humans. And this is only one of the major cities I deal with. We have all the way up to Washington and down to Arizona! Crimson and us are the same size territory wise, but I got more idiots than I could wish for. Picture Las Vegas issues, but on a larger scale!" No wonder he was relieved and quick to stay with me as much as he could. Jaxon was acting Alpha, so he had idiot duty. "Anyways, what did that first page say even?"
"Nothing much. Just read the part that said page one of 2000. Yeah, sure we can't figure out how we can switch or something? I could deal with idiots for a bit easily!" I grinned.
"Ha! You will deal with them soon, my Luna. You get to be acting Alpha instead of Jaxon if I am not here and you are. So, you will get to see why I hate it. Then on top of it we also have to keep the rogues in line. I usually deal with those ones myself since there is less of them and they aren't idiotic." I keep forgetting that's where I was heading originally when this pretty much got kicked off.
"They have freedom, but since they live on what is still your territory, they have to ask for certain things here and there to protect the humans they live nearby?" I ask.
"Pretty much. It's near Goose lake. It's been growing a bit in range lately as more rogues find their ways. I have to do background checks into their old packs and they have to sign a bunch of paperwork as well. That type of stuff is the only boring part about it. Last time I was here I had a rogue that was damn near feral. That is why I handle them myself. It can be dangerous, but not all rogues are bad. My mom was a rogue until she met my father and decided to become one again after his death. I made the land so she could live there freely, but stay close and that's how it started. Anyways, we are going to distract eachother if we keep talking. Want my earbuds?" We have entered his office. It was huge, couch, library, private bathroom. Pretty much the works. I agree to the earbuds and connect it to my phone. I keep the volume low so I can listen to him going mad at his requests. Now, onto these papers.
