The Hunting

Chapter 28

Tobias woke up to his phone ringing loudly.

"Hello?" he asked, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.

"Kia called." Clayton said, his voice full of urgency.

"And?" Tobias said as he sat up in bed.

"She told me to kill Greyson." Clayton explained.

Tobias sighed, "Did you?" he asked.

"Well, no. Henry had him thrown in a cell until we can figure out what the hell is going on." Clayton said, sighing as well.

Tobias heard howling outside, and a few shouts before his front door crashed open. He jumped out of bed and cautiously approached the door.

"I'll call you back." Tobias said as he shut of his phone. "Princess." he breathed as he stood staring at the huge golden wolf in his living room.

Lance came crashing into the room a few seconds later, breathing heavily he shifted back into human from. "Alpha, I'm sorry we couldn't stop her from getting in." he said, nervously looking at the she-wolf that was now growling at him.

"Lance, this is my mate, Kia." Tobias explained. "And don't worry, I suppose no one would be able to stop her once she set her mind to something." he said with a chuckle and Lance relaxed. "Tell the warriors to stand down, I'll talk to them about this later."

Lance nod his way and made a small bow to Kia before he left. Once he was out the door Kia shifted and stood on shaky legs. She was still covered in blood, the wounds and scratches still healing.

"Kia" Tobias breathed out as he took on her appearance.

Her knees gave out and he lunged forward to catch her. Pure exhaustion took over and Kia welcomed the darkness.

"Clayton." Tobias said as he picked up his phone. "She's here, listen something big went down."

"What do you mean?" Clay asked.

"I don't know, she came in here all bloody and scratched up." Tobias said as he paced around his office.

"Dammit, I'll go to St. Aims to see what happened." Clay said as he walked over to Henry.

"Kia is at Blood Moon." he explained. "Apparently some shit went down at St. Aims. I have to go check it out."

"Fine, take Kent with you." Henry said, sighing.

A few minutes later Clayton and Kent were in his Jeep, on their way to the the council grounds.

"Do we know what we're walking into?" Kent asked.

"No idea." Clay replied, glaring out the window.

The drive was long and infuriating, Clayton just wanted to get there as soon as possible, to sort this out and get his life back on track.

Pulling up to the building a cold shiver ran down Clay's spine, Kent sat up straighter, the hair on his arms standing up. All around both buildings council guards lay dead. The two men shared a look before slowly getting out of the Jeep to check out the inside of the buildings.

"You go check out that one, I'll look through this one and we'll meet back here in five?" Clayton said, pointing Kent to the opposite building.

Both men sweeped their buildings and came back with pale faces and grave looks.

"She killed them all." Kent said, releasing a shaky breath.

"Yes, she did." Clay said as he got back in his Jeep.

He picked up his phone and dialed Henry's number. "Better kill Greyson." Clay said as soon as he picked up.

"What, why?" Henry asked.

"Kia killed the rest." he said, his tone somber.

"She WHAT?" Henry snapped. "Even the humans?"

"Yes, humans too." Clay said, looking over to Kent with a nervous glance.

"Dammit." Henry said, and Clay could hear shuffling on the other side of the phone. "I'll take care of Greyson. Get to Kia and find out what the fuck she thought she was doing." Henry snapped before dropping the call.

"Next stop, Blood Moon." Clay said, giving Kent a shrug.

The drove to Blood Moon in silence, the picture of St. Aims burned into their minds forever.

"Who are you?" the warriors at the border asked as Clayton pulled his Jeep to a stop.

"Clayton Everest. This is Kent, he's the Beta of Riverdale. We're here to see Alpha Tobias." Clay explained calmly.

"Very well, you may go through. I'll let Alpha Tobias know you're here" the warrior said as he waved them along.

"Clayton." Tobias said as he came walking out of the pack house. He gave his father in law a hug and turned to the new Beta. "Congratulations on Beta, my friend." he said as he shook Kent's hand.

"Where is she?" Clayton asked.

"She's asleep, she passed out soon after she got here." Tobias explained as he led the to his office.

"Did the doctors look her over?" Kent asked.

"Yes, they said she's just exhausted." Tobias said as he opened his office door. "What did she do?"

"Killed them all." Both Clay and Kent said at the same time.

"The council?" Tobias asked, his eyes wide.

"And the guards." Kent said, nervously jumping his leg as he sat in the chair across from Tobias' desk.

"Shit." Tobias said, rubbing his face. "This is going to cause some trouble."

"Yes, considering the human members of the council were here as well." Clay said. "It's going to cause a lot of problems."

"We'll have to talk to her when she wakes up. What did Henry say?" Tobias asked.

"Nothing yet, but he's not happy." Clayton said, sighing again.

"I understand that, I can't say I'm happy about this either." Tobias said, shaking his head.

They all sat in silence for a while, thinking over the situation.

Tobias smelled her before he saw her and a small smile played over his face.

"It's bad, isn't it?" Kia asked when she stood in the doorway.

"Kia." her father breathed as he got up and wrapped her in a hug.

"Yes, it's quite bad." Tobias said, smiling at the pair.

"It had to be done." Kia said, staring at all three men coolly. "But don't worry, I have a plan"
