Chapter 13
"What did you find?" the Alpha asked.
"Kia Everest. She's eighteen, next in line for the Beta role in her pack, she's a very good warrior, strong, intelligent, ruthless...." the Beta said, shaking his head. "She's every bit her father's daughter."
The Alpha started pacing the room, iritation and frustration blooming on his face.
"Dammit Lucas, we need to find a way to get to her..." he started rambling.
"Actually, there is a way..." Lucas said.
"How?" the Alpha asked with a sneer.
"Your son, Alpha." he replied.
"Which one you dim-witted bafoon? I have two." The Alpha snapped.
Lucas turned to face him, his face unreadable.
"The one you're excluding from the family..." he said, looking at his Alpha with a cold expression.
"Fuck!" the Alpha cursed.

"Morning sleepy-head." Kia whispered, her lips brushing against Tobias' ear.
Tobias growled before his eyes snapped open, settling his black orbs on his mate.
"You shouldn't do that..." Tobias breathed.
"Or what?" Kia teased.
Tobias let out another growl. "You're going to regret this... Soon." he said, getting up out of bed.
He heard Kia giggling as he made his way to his bathroom, wanting nothing more than a cold shower and then maybe some coffee.
The bathroom door creaked open and he saw Kia move towards the sink, hoping up to sit on the counter.
"The full moon is this weekend..." she started saying, Tobias wiped the steam from the glass so he could look at her, he rose his eyebrows in question.
"Well we normally have the mating ceremonies on the full moon, so I, well my mother, wanted to know if we'd be having one?" she asked nervously.
Tobias stood there staring at her, the steam collecting against the glass again, blocking her from his view. He slowly opened the shower door, the steam spilling out in waves as he stepped out and walked over to her. Kia's eyes held that familiar flame within them, the same ones that made Tobias' heart beat faster and cause his mind to think of dirty things.
Once he reached her he threw his arms around her in a wet embrace.
"Tobias! You're wet...." Kia yelled.
"Yeah?" he said with a smirk before he picked her up and carried her into the shower, her shouts of protest falling on deaf ears.
He set her on her feet and smiled down at her, loving the fact that she was in the shower with him, but hating that she still had a her clothes on.
"Better?" he asked, the amusement clear on his face.
Kia huffed before smacking his arm. "You're just a big bully!" she half-snapped.
Tobias pretended to be hurt by her words. "Ouch, Kia, way to make me feel like I'm in pre-school again." he said and then started laughing as Kia started hitting him, her cheeks bright red.
"Okay, okay! You win, I'm sorry." he said in between laughs.
Kia stopped and gave him a triumphant smile. As she was stepping out of the shower she turned to him again. "The full moon?" she asked.
"You better hope we make it to the full moon." he said with a smirk that made Kia shake her head.
She walked out of the bathroom in search of dry clothes, leaving Tobias to finish his shower.
"Mom?" Kia yelled out into the house.
"Yeah?" came Elaina's muffled reply. Kia followed the sound until she found her mother outside, tending to her flowers.
"You can go ahead and make the arrangements for the ceremony." she said before she got tackled to the ground. "Mom! What the hell?" she asked.
"Oh Honey! I'm so, so, soooooo happy you guys decided to go ahead with the mating." Elaina said, gushing over Kia, she then gave her a sly smile. "I want grand-pups." she said, wiggling her eyebrows.
"Ew, mother. No, no grand-pups." Kia said, making a face.
"Kia Everest! Don't you dare make me wait." her mother scolded.
Kia laughed at her and then helped her up from the ground.
"Let's worry about pups later, okay?" she said, giving her mother a warm smile.
"Fine..." Elaina huffed out.
They both walked inside, only to find Clayton and Tobias wrestling on the kitchen floor, the whole place was a wreck, broken glass and furniture everywhere.
"What are you doing?" Elaina asked, folding her hands over her chest.
Clayton growled, punching Tobias in his stomach.
"He thinks he's going to mate with my baby girl..." Clayton growled out, glaring at Tobias.
Tobias just stood there, deshelved and bloody. Clayton looked fine and Kia realized that he had refused to hit her father but rather just took what he got.
Kia walked over to Tobias, ignoring her father's growls. She looked him over before she turned to her father, slapping him hard. Clayton stood there, too stunned to do anything.
"Get your wolf under control or one of these days you might end up killing Tobias." Kia snapped at him, her eyes flashing black.
Elaina took Clayton's arm and started leading him away, knowing he needed a moment to cool off.
"Are you okay?" Kia asked as she turned back to Tobias.
"I'm fine..." he said as he wiped the blood off his lip.
"What happened?" Kia asked, grabbing a wet cloth to help him clean his wounds.
"I don't know, I just walked into the kitchen and he started hitting me. Yelling that I couldn't have you..." Tobias said, shaking his head.
Kia's face went pale, "He must've heard when I told my mother we're doing the ceremony this weekend." she explained, feeling guilty. "I'm sorry..." she said.
"Don't be, it's not your fault he can't control his wolf." Tobias said as he squeezed her hand.
"I'll talk to him later." Kia said, continuing to clean up his wounds.
"Thanks." Tobias said as she finished up. Kia gave him a warm smile before she turned to leave, needing to talk to her father.
Clayton was on the training grounds, punching a tree, sending the bark flying all over.
"Dad?" Kia said as she approached him.
He sighed, "Kia I'm sorry I hit Tobias, I don't know what happened. I heard you telling your mother about the ceremony and then she made that stupid joke about grand-pups and everything went red. My wolf lost it and Tobias just happened to walk in at that moment.." he explained, sighing again.
"What's up with your wolf, you've never been out of control before?" Kia asked, taking a seat on the bench nearby. Clayton joined her.
"Layana..." he said, shaking his head. "Now that she's gone, it's like he's afraid he'll lose you too, he's just trying to protect his pup, even from your own mate. Which is stupid, I know..." Clayton said, chuckling a bit.
"Yes it is.. But I understand." Kia said, placing her hand on her father's arm.
They sat in silence for a while before Kia turned to him with a smile.
"Let's go for a run?" Kia suggested. "Have Niri talk to your wolf, sort this whole thing out. Reassure him?"
"Sounds like a great plan kiddo." Clayton said as he got up and shifted into his huge ginger colored wolf.
Kia shifted as well and for a moment they both just rubbed their heads together, Niri comforting her father, before they took off running into the woods.
