The Heart Sees

'No sign of Chase alpha' I heard Liam's voice in my head.

'Keep waiting. If he doesn't show in 24 hours you can come back to the pack' I replied.

'Any news?' I heard Terry ask.

'Nothing yet....' I sighed. It had been 2 or 3 hours since they took Lu into surgery and I was desparately waiting for an update. I sat twiddling my thumbs and no one dared to approach me.

'She will make it... you got her there in time' Terry encouraged me.

Then I heard footsteps approach and I shot up from my chair. "Alpha...." the doctor started nervously. "She made it through the surgery and she will live" he rambled, "but we are not sure when she'll wake up and she may have amnesia from the extent of the head wound. We are not sure how much she will remember.... if anything. There is a chance that they could come back over time but it's rare" he sighed.

"And her body?" I asked nervously.

"The cuts and bruises will heal and everything should still function as normal. She will not bear a pup because she wasn't in her heat when this occured. But the emotional and mental trauma will be present when she wakes up. She will probably be scared and skittish, but she won't remember why. It is important that she is not too stressed when she wakes, we don't want her to move to quickly and risk further brain damage" he concluded.

"Thank you doctor, can I see her?" I asked.

"Yes, the first door on the left. And alpha..." he hesitated as I looked in his direction. "You did well... another 20minutes and she would have been gone" he said sadly as I nodded at him.

'She is going to live but she might not remember anything' I said sadly to Terry and Liam.

'As long as she is alive, that's what matters' Terry replied sadly.

'You'll win her back' Liam encouraged.

I sighed, walking into the hospital room. I walked towards the wall and felt around until I found a chair, which I brought up to her bed. I sat down and reached until I found her hand, which I held onto gently. Brax purred in my mind when tingles erupted through my body, 'mate!' He whined.

'How is this possible?' I gaped as I felt the sparks continue to flow up my arm. I rubbed her hand gently as both Brax and I sat there baffled.

I'm not sure when, but after a while I must have fallen asleep to the rhythm of the beeping, the exhaustion finally catching up to me.

I was shocked when I saw a beautiful white light appear in my mind, followed by a strange woman. "Fear not, I am the moon goddess" she said, sensing my fear and confusion.

"Why are you here?" I asked.

"I wanted to tell you... I have given Lu to you as your second chance mate. In my eyes you two are destined mates" she smiled at me.

"Why did you pair her with Chase?" I growled.

"I was hoping that her kindness would change Chase... make him a better alpha that treated his people better. But Chase was not even willing to give her a chance. I was amazed when he rejected her right away" she said sadly.

"Will she remember me?" I sighed.

"No... she won't remember anything after she ran away from Chase. It will be up to you to guide her, but she will recognize you as her mate because of the mate pull" the moon goddess said hopefully.

"Why did you put us through this?" I asked.

"It was not in my plans originally for you two to be mates... but after seeing how quickly you bonded, I knew that I could not keep you apart. Lu is a strong wolf, even if she is an omega. But she will need your love and protection to get through this. Chase is still out there and looking for Lu, unfortunately it will be up to you to find him" she explained.

"Will others be after her?" I asked.

"Yes... because she is an omega others will seek her out" she admitted sadly. "But.... because of this I am granting you a gift" she smiled.

"What gift?" I asked.

"If she chooses to be marked by you again and you by her I will make it permanent. It can never be erased, whether you have fully mated or not" she smiled again.

"That is kind of you... but what if Chase gets her again? I don't want her to be violated again" I pleaded.

"Very well... I will alter her form so that she can physically accept no other. If Chase does decide to attack her again sexually her womb will close, making it impossible for him to penetrate her. Only you will have that ability" she said cryptically.

"Thank you moon goddess" I bowed.

"I am sorry child for all of your pain. You have had many hardships compared to my other children" she said somberly.

"Thank you for helping Lu" I smiled softly at her.

"Our time has ended, take care of Lu for me" she said right before I woke up.

I lifted my head up, rubbing my temple as I thought about the strange dream I just had. I listened to Lu carefully and heard that her breathing was still even and her heart beat was steady.... she was still unconscious.

I sighed, rubbing my fingers gently across her hand. "Come back to me Lu... please" I begged. The moon goddess didn't mention when she would wake up, but she hinted that Lu would wake eventually. I'm not sure exactly what everything meant that she said, but I am sure that I'll figure it out eventually.

'Anything yet?' I mind linked Terry.

'No, how is the Luna?' He asked.

'The same...' I sighed.

"She'll come back to you, I know it!' Terry replied confidently.

'The doctor's said 20 more minutes and I would have lost her' I sniffled.

'But you didn't' he replied.

'She won't remember me Terry.... or you or Liam' I cried.

'She will come to know us again. And she will warm up to you just like she did when you met the first time' Terry said factually.

'How can you be sure?' I asked.

'I just know.... you two were so happy together, you'll find your way back to each other. She loves you' I could almost feel Terry's smirk at the last part.

'Thanks Terry...'I mumbled as I laid my head on the bed, still holding Lu's hand. I would sleep... but there is no way I am leaving this room. When she wakes up, I have to be here to help her.
