Chapter 12
Tyler smiled knowing that Suzy was looking at him. When Tommy told him she applied for the waitress position. He was quite pleased to be able to spend the Christmas week with her. Dakota was throwing fifthly fantasies of him and her making love in his cozy bedroom; anywhere as possible. The most frequent vision he saw was in kitchen on the countertop while eating banana ice cream and honey. This bear had all kinds of crazy attempts to claim her as his mate.
‘Dakota stop filling my mind with shit and calm the heat in your pants down, man,’ Tyler told his bear.
Dakota smirked, ‘It can’t be help, Tyler. This is our woman and she’s our mate. No matter what you think if you don’t mark her you’ll regret not having her in your life.’
Tyler frowned at his bear and knew he was right, Suzy, did make them happy. This was the happiest moment, he and his bear had seen in their entire-single life.
‘You’re hired, Suzy,’ Tyler blunted out.
The guys were surprised looking at Suzy shifted her head toward him in shock dropping the mug of hot cocoa, ‘You’re serious, Tyler?’ without realising it stained her see-through white spandex top since she had tied the jumper sleeves around her waist. ‘Oh my gosh, thank you so much, you won’t be disappointed, Tyler’ and she embraced pressing her chest against him as his face widened with a grin snaking his arms around her.
‘Suzy you spilled hot cocoa on your chest,’ Ronny pointed out and the rest of his friends watched them with envy and a bit jealous.
Suzy looked down and laughed, ‘It’s nothing that a little bit of detergent can take out. I’m so surprised to work with you guys’ and bounced up and down.
Tyler and the guys watched breast do the same admiring the view, then Dakota appeared being defensive glaring at them as they checked themselves. ‘You’ll work with Ronny in the bar session. You’ll also be taking care of the bride and groom needs.’
‘That will be great!’ Suzy smiled and thought, ‘Now I’ll be able to get their story without no problems with the exception of Roy, the bear spirit inside of me. I have know no idea what she looks like and other the bear shifters, Roy mentioned he’s at war with’ and she continued to listen to her new boss.
Tyler added, ‘Tommy will drop off your uniform and schedule later. Ronny will give a brief detour of the place and show how things work. I wish I could have done this myself but I’ll be too busy in the kitchen with Andrew…’ his friend waved acknowledging her.
‘Nice to meet you,’ Suzy greeted Andrew.
Andrew smirked, ‘Likewise.’
Then Tyler continued, ‘We’ll be preparing the foods for the bride’s and groom’s practice reception and other guests. Anyway, get yourself cleaned up, work starts at eight and I don’t tolerate tidiness is that clear.’
‘Yes sir,’ Suzy nodded and thought, ‘He’s bossy?’ stopping herself from rolling her eyes.
His friends glared at him, Tyler shrugged, ‘What? I’m just being honest guys.’
‘Cut her some slack, Tyler. It’s her first time working here,’ Jordan defended.
Tyler raised his eyebrows, ‘I don’t expect less from you either but…alright’ and he stood up looking at her, ‘I’ll see in the morning, Suzy’ and walked off. ‘Now, Roy,’ he thought exiting the Bed & Breakfast running off into the forests shifting as his bear. He head off to the Deer’s Fortress.
‘Yeah,’ Suzy answered softly looking at him leave the dining room. She felt a little depress that him left so soon.
Ronny rubbed her back gently sending a shudder through a spine she looked at him and asked, ‘What Ronny?’
‘Tyler might be an idiot sometimes but…’ Ronny answered pausing and hated admitting it. ‘He cares about you and you’re the first woman I’ve seen who truthfully made him happy in a long time.’
‘Yeah,’ the guys agreed nodding.
Suzy repeated, ‘He’s cares about me?’ and thought, ‘What a joke? But I did feel his genuine approach’ and she stood up, ‘I don’t know if I can trust, Tyler. There’s a weird look in his eyes that puts me off.’
‘That’s love, sweetheart,’ Andrew explained honestly.
Suzy shook her head, ‘No, it’s not love just lust. I’m not a desire you can claim whenever you want and dump off somewhere when you’re ready for a next round. I’m a woman with a heart of gold and I deserved a man who will love me wholeheartedly and fight for me, share his thoughts with me and be humble appreciating every moment we have together into the future.’ Memories of Ethan engulfed her eyes as she continued, ‘That man, I lost him and I’m not ready to move on onto someone else!’ she stormed off crying.
‘Suzy!’ the guys called out watching ran off.
With rage plunged into heart she didn’t realise bumped into Skylar and Matt.
‘Suzy, what’s wrong, honey?’ Skylar asked. ‘Are you okay?’ she hugged her.
Suzy embraced her back, ‘I didn’t you see there. I still can’t believe my fiancé called off our engagement. I don’t think I can handle another relationship. I’m still heartbroken, Skylar.’
Skylar looked at Matt who understood and went off, ‘Why we don’t have some girl talk? Come on, now, most of men don’t get it. Matt and I have been together for long time. Before that I wasn’t interested in dating until Matt showed up in my life. My husband had died earlier on in a car crash and Matt comforted me when I needed it the most. We broke off our relationship because I was traveling to Australia to work. He couldn’t leave his daughter and I understand that. When I came back to New York he started dating my best friend, Chloe. She’s the founder of most popular fashion magazine, NCS. They were having problems and she told me he never gave up on me or our relationship. Chloe dumped him and then we started to see each other until this very moment. He proposed and my ex Henry showed up wanting to wreck our engagement but I beat his ass made him take a flight back to London.’
Suzy was fascinated by what she heard from the wise-soon to be bride and thought in disbelief, ‘Matt and Chloe has history, no wonder, is that why she doesn’t want to come to their wedding?’ and she continued to listen to Skylar.
‘Suzy, the guy who runs away isn’t your soul-mate. The guy who is overly worried and cares about you more than himself and his family’s rants is your Mr Right,’ Skylar told her and they walked over to the secluded balcony and sat down on the sofa.
Suzy nodded with a smile, ‘Skylar, you don’t know how much your words mean to me.’
‘I know because I’ve been there before, Suzy,’ Skylar smiled and then they heard footsteps approaching their direction, it was Matt holding a tray with three white Christmas mugs of hot chocolate.
Matt reached out, ‘Here you go, ladies’ and they took it before drinking.
‘Thanks, babe,’ Skylar blushed smiling as Matt nodded sitting down beside her.
Suzy thought, ‘She’s a strong woman, indeed. No wonder, Chloe admires their relationship’ and then she stood up, ‘I guess I should leave I have to be up early for work tomorrow morning.’
‘Oh, that’s wonderful; one of my bridesmaids fell ill yesterday. She can’t make it to our wedding it would give me great joy to have you replace her. I never did like Mariah and her big boos that seems to be a guys’ show stopper,’ Skylar admitted laughing.
Suzy chuckled and then smiled, ‘I did be honour to, Skylar, thanks. Anyway, enjoy the rest of your day if you need anything just call. I’m supposed to attend to you and Matt; it comes with the job.’
‘Can’t wait,’ Skylar answered and Matt smiled.
Suzy waved them goodbye and head off to her room. She prepared dinner and ate before taking a warm shower changing into her Minions-design pajamas. Opening her laptop she typed the exact words Skylar had mentioned into her article and added, ‘Despite the hardships of departing from each other and the lost of her husband; Skylar and Matt was able to be reconnect and continued falling in love with each other to this very moment.’ She pressed saved turning off her laptop leaning back on the couch kicking her feet up.
‘One paragraph isn’t enough maybe working with them tomorrow you’ll add more,’ Suzy told herself until she heard a knock on her door. She got up quickly running to the door looking through the window’s hole realising it was Tommy. He held her uniforms and a brown envelope. Suzy took a deep breath exhaling and opened the door with a smile, ‘Hey Tommy!’
Tommy noticed her pajamas and laughed, ‘Those look cute on you.’
‘Thanks, is that my uniforms and schedule?’ Suzy asked feeling a little embarrassed. But he made her comfortable unlike Tyler who had her emotions and cells jumping through the roof.
‘Yeah, here you go, I’ll see you in morning, Suzy,’ Tommy smiled handing it to her.
Suzy nodded, ‘Okay’ and watching him leave as she went inside and locked her door.
Next day, she was already dressed in her uniform: white long sleeve shirt with the company’s logo: a bear drinking hot cocoa, while the other naps and a red pencil skirt, beret and heels in the bar area. Ronny handed a tray filled with drinks. She whisked it away in one hand and approached Skylar and her two bridesmaids, Michelle and Gloria.
‘Here you go, ladies,’ Suzy smiled setting the wine glasses on the table.
Skylar grinned, ‘Thanks Suzy. You look so adorable in your uniform. These are my friends, Michelle and Gloria.’
‘Thank you, Skylar,’ Suzy laughed heartily. ‘It pleasure to meet you girls’ and they smiled.
‘Skylar told us about your thrown off engagement, that guy was a dick. You’re better off without him, Suzy,’ Michelle smiled and drank her martini.
Suzy smiled, ‘I couldn’t agree more with you, thanks.’
Gloria shrugged grinning, ‘I second the motion, I’ve been in that boat before’ and sipped her cool drink.
‘It isn’t something easy. It took a lot to get back on my feet to figure out my life without him,’ Suzy added.
Gloria agreed, ‘You know right and after a while it gets better and better.’
‘Yeah,’ Suzy nodded smiling.
Skylar added, ‘I was telling Michelle and Gloria about you taking part in my wedding. Since Mariah is sick you’ll take over in her position and be escorted by my good friend, Tyler. He’s your boss.’
‘Tyler?’ Suzy questioned a bit frozen a little.
Skylar, Michelle and Gloria looked at her smirking.
‘You two have history together?’ Michelle asked curiously.
Suzy shook her head and whispered, ‘I barely know the guy and he’s occupying my life like storm.’
‘Awe, I can’t help but think you’ll two will look good together on my wedding day walking down that aisle,’ Skylar smirked wiggling her eyebrows.
Suzy blushed, ‘Skylar?’ and about to add something else, she overheard Ronny calling her.
‘Suzy! Need some help right now!’ He yelled over from behind the bar.
Suzy smiled, ‘Hold on, I’m coming!’ and then faced the cheeky women. ‘Duty calls, girls, I’ll see you when I have my break.’
‘We’ll be waiting,’ Gloria grinned, Skylar and Michelle smiled also.
They watched her leave, joining Ronny at the bar; who handed her a tray of smoothies and cupped ice cream. He directed her with his eyes targeting the family of seven. Suzy headed over politely placing the sweet drinks on the table before walking off. After hours of serving drinks and meals to guests, Suzy sat down on the stool exhausted resting her chin against her folded arms and thought, ‘This isn’t the Christmas vacation I wanted.’ Then she saw a white bowl of an ice cream sundae drizzled in caramel sauce slide in front of her sight. Shifting her head up, the soft-knowing look on Ronny’s face said it all.
‘It’s tough, you’ll get use to it, Suzy,’ he smiled.
Suzy nodded, ‘I know, thanks for the sundae.’
‘That’s going out of your paycheck,’ Ronny teased laughing.
Suzy mouth dropped in a frown, ‘Ronny…’ and she shook her head smiling, ‘Unbelievable.’
‘I’m kidding, doll face, it’s on me,’ Ronny smiled. ‘It eat up now. There’s still plenty of work to do. You can't work on an empty stomach, can you now?’
Suzy rolled her eyes, ‘Yeah, yeah’ and she dug her spoonful of ice cream into her mouthing moaning with passion, ‘It’s wonderful…’ as she overheard his chuckled.
‘Now that’s my baby girl,’ Ronny grinned enjoying the moment of her ice cream reactions loving every second of her creamy tasty lips. His bear couldn’t concentrate. All he and his partner wanted to do is kiss those kissable cherry blossom lips. Ignoring his bear’s suggestive motive, Ronny walked off attending another guest still leaving the view of her in her uniform in his mind forever. ‘Man, too bad we can’t be on her radar,’ he thought facing the guest; the mother of a little girl, while smiling.
