The Good Girl's Revenge

Chapter 268

Meredith nodded. Seeing that she was in a bad mood, Parker stayed with her for a while. Then, someone brought her dinner.

"Eat something.” Parker specifically ordered servants to make her favorite flavor, and now she was almost a circle thinner than before, looking very haggard.

"Okay..." Meredith looked at the dishes that used to be her favorite, but she had no appetite at all. However, she naturally couldn't bear to waste Parker's kindness, so she ate some reluctantly. Seeing Meredith eating normally, Parker was relieved and left.

Seeing him leave, Meredith covered her mouth and rushed into the bathroom.

She forcefully ate everything she had just eaten. Although she didn't eat much, she felt nauseous and sick.

It seemed that because of the dream she had just had, she could not even eat now. She had no appetite at all when she thought that her child might be suffering.

In the Xavier Group.

In the office on the top floor, Damian stood in front of Derek's desk with a serious expression.

He spent the last few days looking for the whereabouts of those people on the uninhabited island, but Violet had long eliminated all traces, and now, no one even knew who had been there. Moreover, in order to destroy the evidence, Violet persuaded the Old Master to sell the development rights of the uninhabited island.

Once that piece of land was sold to others, it would only be harder to continue investigating. "Nothing?" Derek had dark circles under his eyes, and he had been searching for Meredith's whereabouts through his power these days.

Perhaps it was because of intuition, perhaps it was because of some kind of obsession, Derek refused to believe the fact that Meredith was already dead.

Now, he had sent people to check all the hospitals in the country, but there were still no gains. "Impossible. I don't believe there's anything in this world that could leave no trace. Keep investigating!"

Derek ordered in a hoarse voice.

Damian looked at the red blood in Derek's eyes and couldn't bear it. He had never seen Derek in such a mess.

Since the news of Meredith's accident, Derek had not returned home for three days and nights and had been looking for her whereabouts in the company with an unwell eye.

Just as Damian was trying to persuade Derek to take a break, someone knocked on the door and a beautiful and gentle voice sounded. "Derek, are you there?"

Just as they were engaged, Derek not only rejected all the events that Chloe had attended, but now he didn't even go home.

For Chloe, she had to try to maintain the public fame of the marriage between the two families but actually she only stayed in an empty room and couldn't see her fiancé. In the end, she couldn't help but come to look for him.

"Miss Bennett is here. Then, shall I go out first?"

Although the two were engaged, Damian did not change the calling way. In his heart, he still did not approve of another woman to be "Mrs. Xavier".

"No, you stay here."

Derek did not even lift his head and paid no attention to the knock on the door outside. He was not even in the mood to deal with Chloe now.

If she hadn't taken the chance to delete Damian's message that day, perhaps Meredith wouldn't be like this now.

Chloe clearly heard someone talking in the office, but she never got Derek's permission to let her in. The smile on her face froze slightly, and then she knocked on the door.

"Derek, are you there? I'm going in."

A trace of impatience flashed between Derek's brows. Just as he was about to speak, Chloe pushed the door open and walked in.

"Derek, tonight our two families..."

Before she could finish speaking, Derek suddenly got up and said, "I suddenly remembered that I have something to do. You can do it yourself at night.”

With that, Derek left without looking at Chloe standing in front of him.

Chloe's face turned from red to pale, as if she had never expected Derek to be so disrespectful in front of his assistant.

She wanted to say something, but the man had already left, leaving her with a cold back.

Derek walked out of the company, but he didn't know where to go. A few days of busy work also made him feel very tired.

However, he did not dare to stop. As soon as he stopped the search, he would think of Meredith lying in a pool of blood to give birth to a child.

That scene was shocking to him.

Sitting aimlessly in the car, Derek was in a rare daze. At this moment, a mother and daughter walked over.

The young daughter seemed to be pregnant, and her mother carefully supported her. "Look at you. You should just rest at home. What are you running around for?"

"I can still move. It's so boring to stay at home..."

The conversation between the two of them reached Derek's ears. He couldn't help but wonder if it was the same for Meredith abroad...

At this moment, he suddenly realized something. If something really happened to Meredith, Amelia would have known about it. Why did he forget about it?

"Damian, book a flight right away. I want to go abroad.”

Without thinking, Derek set off immediately.

Amelia had already left the hospital, and with Nolan's help and the hospital's careful care, she had almost recovered. Although her legs and feet were not very nimble, she could already walk a few steps.

As long as she continued to her rehab, she should be able to continue walking soon.

When Derek found her, Amelia was sitting on the sofa and calling Meredith. When she heard someone knocking on the door, she pushed the wheelchair to open the door with her cell phone. When she saw it was Derek, she was surprised at first, then hung up the phone.

Meredith's whereabouts must not be known to this man!

It was Derek's first time seeing Amelia. Although he had been looking for someone to take care of the mother and her daughter, he never had the chance to meet her. This was the first time he met her, but it was really unusual.

"Auntie, I'm..."

As soon as Derek's words came out, Amelia could not control her anger. She reached out and gave him a hard slap.

This slap exhausted all her strength. "Don't introduce yourself. I will never forget you in my life. Even if you turn into ashes, I will recognize the person who killed my daughter!”

Derek's face was tilted to one side by the slap. He was not angry. His first reaction was unbelievable. He looked at the woman in front of him. "Meredith isn't dead, is she?"

When Amelia saw his eagerness, she was not moved. Instead, she was even angrier. Now, who was he pretending to be so affectionate and caring?

If Parker hadn't shown up to save Meredith, she had already suffered from the pain of losing her only daughter. Derek was hypocritical to her.

She would never forgive the Xaviers for what they did to Meredith in her life.
