His grandpa said it blankly yet resolutely, leaving no chance for Derek to say no.

Derek clenched his teeth. His grandpa had made the decision and got well prepared. He even hired so many guards.

He could only pretend to be obedient at first. He must figure out another method to do that ASAP. "l.. got it."

He said unwillingly. Hearing his answer, Chloe breathed a sigh of relief. "Derek, go back and have a good rest. I've prepared a feast for you. There won't be many people. Make yourself at home. It's time... for you to meet my parents.”

Derek was annoyed by her, "I know. I'm tired. I'll get some rest first.”

Immediately, he closed his eyes and took a nap. He was indifferent to Chloe without showing any respect.

Chloe felt ashamed.

She was put on a pedestal by other people. But with Derek, she almost lost all her dignity. She even begged him to get engaged with her.

Chloe's eyes flashed with a hint of unwillingness. She would not let this situation last long. She would make Derek fall in love with her again.

"OK." Then she asked the driver to drive slowly with a forced smile on her face.

His grandpa nodded and was very satisfied with her thoughtfulness. With her by Derek's side, he could rest in peace.

Knowing that he could not leave this place for the time being, Derek closed his eyes. But he could not fall asleep at all. As soon as he closed his eyes, the scene of Meredith lying in a pool of blood appeared in front of him.

She was so desperate, so helpless. If he didn't help her, who else could...

Derek unconsciously clenched his fists. He had to get out. He had to get Meredith back quickly. Just then, Derek's cell phone rang. They didn't find Meredith. She might be kidnapped by some professionals. They didn't leave any evidence.

"Mr. Xavier, Miss Mason was kidnapped. We'll go find her right away and make up for this mistake." Derek glared at the message and read it word by word, again and again. His eyes got darker and colder.

It turned out that his dream was a warning telling him that Meredith was in danger.

He couldn't help but smash his fist on the car seat. He didn't expect that although he had made so many arrangements, Meredith was still kidnapped. If something happened to her, he would make those negligent people pay.

Chloe was startled by him. Seeing that he looked gloomy, she couldn't help but mutter to herself. "What's wrong? He never lost his temper. Did something bad really happen?”

Derek immediately sent a message to Damian asking him to go abroad. Although those people he had hired said they would try their best to make up for their mistakes, he didn't trust them anymore. The message Damian received was very short. Derek didn't tell him what to do specifically. But after all these years with Derek, he knew him well. He would never do anything meaningless, so Damian immediately booked the latest plane ticket to go abroad.

"Derek... What are you..." Chloe looked at Derek's gloomy face. She wanted to care about him and asked in fear, but he just gave her a cold look.

She suddenly felt a little aggrieved. These days, she had let go of all her pride and tried to behave well to show that she was worthy to be a daughter-in-law of the Xaviers, but Derek didn't appreciate it at all.

"Derek, are you... unwilling to get engaged to me?"

Chloe sounded like she was crying. She purposely asked it loud so that Mr. Xavier, who was sitting in front of them, could hear her clearly.

Derek was already upset. Seeing Chloe's aggrieved face, he was not in the mood to coax her. "If I said yes, would you cancel the ceremony?”

Chloe's face turned pale, and Mr. Xavier was so angry that he reached out to slap Derek.

Everyone knew thatthe Xaviers and the Bennetts were about to be bonded. He's insane to say something like this to Chloe at this moment.

But meanwhile Mr. Xavier noticed that Derek was obviously being strange. He knew that Violet had gone abroad to take care of Meredith and her baby. Maybe that's why Derek was worried.

He didn't care about the company. He was worried about Meredith.

"Chloe, go back first. I have something to talk to him."

Mr. Xavier got out of the car, and Derek followed silently. Chloe was a little guilty. She couldn't help but say that. Derek did not care about her feelings at all. If he really decided to cancel the engagement, she would cry in regret.

She now endorsed many products. She liked this feeling and wanted to be more successful. The Xaviers was powerful to support her, unlike the Bennetts which was in a dire state now and could not boost her career at all

Therefore, she must firmly hold onto the Xaviers, at all costs.

"I... I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that.”

Chloe said with a grievance. Mr. Xavier shook his head to show that it was not her fault.

Derek didn't say anything but looked down at the ground. Mr. Xavier was so angry. He raised his hand and slapped Derek. "What did you say? Now that the Xaviers has publicized your engagement, do you think it is still an unimportant thing between you two? This concerns the reputations of the two families!"

Derek looked at the old man in front of him. Even though his hair was grey, he still looked so powerful. Even Derek was at a disadvantage in front of him. "Grandpa, all you care is the interest and reputation of our family. When you threatened me with Meredith's mother, have you ever thought about it in my shoes?"

Derek roared, "Meredith and her mother were suffering, because of us. Don't you feel any guilt at all?"

"Who do you think I'm doing this for? Do you think I want to?"
