The Good Girl's Revenge

Chapter 242

Today, Derek stayed here a little longer than before. After taking one last look at the window where the lights had gone out, the man left.

Watching him leave, Violet suppressed her anger and asked the driver to drive. Her body, which had been almost fully recovered from Derek and Chloe's engagement, was now faintly uncomfortable. She couldn't let him go on like this. Did he know that Meredith's baby was his own?

If he didn't know, she would absolutely prevent him from knowing the truth.

If he knew, she would have to control the child

Thinking about it, Violet called Derek. "Derek, when are you coming back?"

Derek received the phone call from Violet. He was rather worried. “I'll go back tomorrow. How's your surgery going?"

Violet could not help but smile coldly in her heart. Her son, who had been brought up by her, started to lie to her and deceive her.

She could not bear to blame Derek. Instead, she could only blame Meredith, who was a troublesome timed bomb.

"I'm fine. By the way, how's the engagement ceremony going?"

Derek did not care about the so-called engagement. In his opinion, it was just a show without any practical significance. However, worried that Violet would think too much, he could only mumble a few words.

The more Violet listened, the more resentment she felt towards Meredith. It was all Meredith's fault. Otherwise, how could Derek lie to her like this?

"Derek, don't lie to me and let me down." As Violet spoke, she looked up at Meredith's position. The ominous feeling in Derek's heart grew stronger. "Mother, you..."

Instead of saying anything, Violet hung up the phone.

The engagement ceremony between Derek and Chloe would be held in a few days, so she had no time to dawdle and must do it as soon as possible.

Meredith slept in the room, but the sudden thunder outside woke her up.

She sat up abruptly with a strong palpitating feeling in her heart. The room was very stuffy because the window was not open. Meredith took a few breaths and the feeling of shortness of breath did not ease.

"What... What's wrong..."

Meredith shook her head and got up to turn on the light to open the window and get some air. However, when she pressed the switch, the light did not turn on.

It was dark in the room. Only the terrifying light from the lightning that pierced through the sky lit up the room a little. The room appeared like the scenes from those horror movies that she had seen before.

"No... It's okay... I must have been thinking too much."

Meredith woke up in shock. Even so, she comforted herself by picking up her phone and trying to call someone for help, only to find that she couldn't get the cell phone reception.

There was no electricity, no cell phone reception and she was the only one in the house. Meredith was out of sleep and cold sweat came out of her body. Just then, there were some messy footsteps outside the door.

Meredith glanced at the time on her phone. It was past 12: 00 in the morning. This was a suburb, so no one would wander around at this time. Could it be that the power outage and lack of signal were all intentionally done by someone?

Meredith felt her heart beating faster and faster, as if it was about to jump out of the room. She breathed heavily to avoid the emotional stress, which would affect the baby. She just picked up a vase by the bed and quietly hid at the door.

What would she do if a bad person came in and tried to rob her? She would let nothing happen to the baby...

Meredith's mind was in a mess. Just then, the thunder outside the window grew louder and louder, which was mixed with the crackling of rain. The depressing atmosphere grew stronger.

The footsteps were getting closer and closer, and Meredith's face was covered in a cold sweat. Her bangs were pressed against her forehead, and she was soaked from the sweat.

"This is it."

At this moment, someone spoke.

Meredith was stunned. These people spoke Chinese rather than foreign languages, which at least meant that they were not local gangsters, but Chinese.

But who would come all the way to find her?

Meredith racked her brains and couldn't figure it out. Just as her mind was in a mess, those people moved. The door was opened from the outside. Meredith quickly took a few steps to hide. A flashlight shone in and cut through the darkness.

"That's her."

When the group saw Meredith, they did not do anything drastic. Instead, they were very calm. "Who are you? What's your intention?" Meredith held the vase in her hand. These people were so strange. If they were here to rob for money, why didn't they ask for money? Instead, they didn't look for anything and just stared at her?

It was as if she had been targeted by wild animals in the forest. She was the prey that could not escape. She was frightened, but had nowhere to run!

"Miss, you'd better calm down. Do you still want to fight so many of us with your physical condition?”

"Who the hell are you?"

"Don't worry, we won't hurt you. After all, you're pregnant with a baby of the Xaviers. You'd better come with us obediently.”

The leader of them sounded reasonable. After all, Meredith's baby was already a few months old, so he could not bear the responsibility if he made a hasty move to abort her.

Why would they know whose child she had?

And... The Xaviers?

These people were sent by the Xaviers to rob her of her child?

Meredith was furious. She refused to reveal who the biological father of the child was as she was afraid that the Xaviers would think of eliminating her and keeping the child. Sadly, these people still came to take her child away.

Why? Derek didn't even want her, but he still wanted to take the child away.

"I don't know what you're talking about. The child in my stomach has nothing to do with the Xaviers. I had him with someone else's. Please leave."

"Miss Mason, since we're here, we know the truth. You'd better save your energy and come with us. Be obedient to avoid suffering. Otherwise..."

As soon as she finished speaking, a tall man suddenly rushed over. While Meredith's attention was on the person who was speaking, he directly knocked the thing in her hand to the ground and had her arm pinned behind her, firmly controlling her.

"Let me go. Let me go. You're mistaken!"

Meredith didn't expect these people to move so fast. She didn't even react. She struggled twice. Apart from hurting herself, the person who controlled her didn't move at all. The size differences between the two made Meredith's little struggle seem like a mosquito biting him.
