Was that Derek?

Meredith walked over. However, the man was tall with long legs, and his footsteps were much faster than hers. Soon, he was gone.

Meredith didn't catch up. In the end, she just shook her head. It must be just an illusion. Why was Derek here? He should be busy preparing for the wedding with Chloe, right?

Thinking about it, Meredith smiled at herself self-deprecatingly. It was useless to think about those. Instead, it was better to think about how to live a good life in the future.

The day passed quickly.

Meredith followed the nurse who was off work to visit the room. To her surprise, the price of the house was quite acceptable. It was clean and tidy without the problems she had imagined. Besides, it had everything. Also, it was not the sort of house that was within her budget.

"Well, is the price correct?”

Meredith held the rental agreement and looked incredulous. She always felt that it was not her turn to encounter such a good thing.

The landlord nodded quickly and his smile even tinged with eagerness. This morning, a man found him and asked him to rent the house to a woman. As long as he could manage it well, the man would give him a better house.

At first, he was skeptical, but he didn't expect that the man was telling the truth and gave him a house...

How could he refuse such a good thing?

"This isn't a haunted house, is it?" Meredith looked at it, but it didn't appear so. Still, the price really didn't convince her. After all, she couldn't have any problems giving birth here.

"Of course not."

The landlord found out all the photos from his family to prove that the house was fine. Meredith looked through them carefully before finally becoming relieved and signing them.

Meredith was relieved that she had finally solved a major problem. The landlord handed her the key and left.

"You can rest here. You can call me if you need anything.”

The nurse saw that everything was arranged and left after a few words of concern.

Meredith nodded, lost in her thoughts with a pillow in her arms. She looked at the clean and warm house, and touched the baby that was still moving in her stomach. "Baby, do you think mommy is finally a little lucky? Maybe god is still fair..."

Meredith felt a little tired, so she went upstairs and found the bedroom.

It was late at night, and the streets were getting more and more empty. Not far from where Meredith was, a black car slowly stopped.

"Sir, do you want to go back?"

Damian looked at Derek thoughtfully. On this day, although Meredith did not know about it, Derek had already arranged all aspects of her life properly. He, as an outsider, saw it clearly.

His boss still cared about Meredith, but..

"I'll go down and take a walk."

Derek then got out of the car, walked slowly and looked at the environment here. Then he walked to a big tree, where he could see the second floor of Meredith's house.

Now that the lights were on, Meredith must have gone upstairs to rest.

Derek looked at the dim light affectionately, as if he were looking at something precious.

Meredith looked around the bedroom. She didn't know if it was her illusion. She felt that the bedding here was new. It didn't look dirty or old at all. It could even be used directly.

It was so convenient to stay here.

Meredith smiled and went to the window to open it. Looking out at the scenery, there was a small garden not far from here. Although it was not as charming as the one in the Xaviers, it had already satisfied her.

Seeing that she suddenly opened the window, his eyes darkened. He should be in the blind corner of Meredith's vision now, so he didn't have to worry about being discovered by Meredith. He just looked at the blurry figure like he was possessed, as if he wanted to imprint her figure in his mind. Meredith looked at the house for a while. She was satisfied with the place. "Derek, you bastard. Look! Even without you, I would be fine. Don't think you're so great.”

Meredith said loudly, as if she was announcing something or cheering herself up.

Her voice reached Derek's ears and made him laugh bitterly.

This woman, who didn't know that he had arranged everything for her, thought she was lucky. Perhaps this was fine. Meredith's previous life was so hard that she did not believe that the so-called luck would fall on her.

However, Derek was not angry, but rather amused. He saw a little more anger on Meredith's face. Although it was caused by scolding him, at least he could see that she was not beaten down. If she had the thought, she could deal with any trouble.

In this way, even if he left here temporarily, he could still feel at ease.

After a while, the lights went out, the window was dark and there was no light. Derek stood there for a while, then slowly turned around and left.

At the airport.

Violet slowly stepped down from the Xaviers's private plane, and a car was waiting outside.

"Did you find out where Meredith is now?"

Naturally, Violet had her own purpose. She had to control the child herself and never give Meredith the chance to be rich.

"Now that Meredith has moved to a new place, we have a rough idea of where she is."

"Oh? Changed the place?" Violet's originally tense face lightened up because of the news. It seemed that Derek still followed her idea. At least, he knew to drive that woman away.

Did that mean that he was no longer interested in that woman? If that was the case, she would feel much more at ease.

"We'll see what's going on tomorrow. Let's take a break today."

Since Meredith had already left, Violet was not in a hurry to deal with her. After all, she needed to recover from jet lag after flying here from home.
