The Good Girl's Revenge

Chapter 237

"Mr. Xavier."

Nolan answered the phone and wiped the blood off his hands indifferently. His expression was not elegant or gentle at all, totally different from his public persona. His charming eyes were so cold that one who saw into his eyes could not help shivering.

"Is that done?"

"Generally, it's almost done, but I have an important piece of information to tell you."

Nolan threw the paper out of his hand. For him, the entanglement of the Xaviers was really a piece of cake, but it was a good show for him.

"What information?”

Mr. Xavier frowned slightly, and what Nolan said next shocked him completely.

"I saw the results of the paternity test of Meredith's baby. Her baby is of the lineage of your family. So, what are you going to do about it?"

"The baby... Is it of the lineage of our family?"

Mr. Xavier was full of disbelief. He had never thought of this possibility at all. Shouldn't that baby be a bastard with whom Meredith wanted to force Derek to take responsibility?

The shocking truth silenced him for a while, and Nolan said again, "If you don't want to leave any trouble behind, I can help you... Solve the problem.”

For Nolan, getting rid of an unborn baby was nothing.

Mr. Xavier clenched the microphone in his hand, "I need to think it over. Don't do anything until you get my instructions.”

After saying that, he hung up the phone in a daze.

Derek had a baby, which meant he had a great-grandchild. The news brought him mixed feelings of both shock and happiness.

If this baby's mother was not Meredith, perhaps he would happily find the great-grandchild back. However, it was Meredith who had this baby, even at the time when Derek had agreed to get engaged to Chloe.

For a moment, even a man like Mr. Xavier, who had been accustomed to the ups and downs, was at a loss.

What should he do with this baby..

Mr. Xavier thought for a moment and called Violet over.

"Meredith's baby is Derek's."

After all, Violet was Derek's mother and the child's grandmother, so she had the right to know about it.

"What? That's impossible. How... How could that woman be pregnant with Derek's baby?"

Violet's first reaction was not to believe the information. She knew that Derek, her son, was not willing at all to touch any of the women he despised.

That was why she was so sure that Meredith's child was unrelated to the Xaviers.

"Can there be anything wrong with the paternity test?” Mr. Xavier shook his head, "It's useless for you to run away from reality now. Think about how to deal with this baby now.”

At the same time, Mr. Xavier thought of the fortune-teller who said that Meredith's fate was very compatible with Derek's. Was it true?

"No, this..." Violet shook her head when she saw Mr. Xavier's hesitation.

Although she had always wanted a grandchild, the grandchildren she wanted should be from a mother of a prestigious family and high status, not from a woman who had been in jail, with a bankrupt family plagued with scandals!

Meredith, even if she was pregnant, could never be admitted.

"Can't the baby be aborted? We can induce Meredith, can't we?"

"Violet, that baby is almost due. If you go to induce Meredith now, you are killing Derek's baby with your own hands!"

After being warned by Mr. Xavier, Violet gradually calmed down. However, the calmer she was, the angrier she became.

Meredith, this damn woman! Why did she not do the paternity test sooner or later but at the critical moment when Derek was about to get engaged to Chloe? What else could it be if she didn't want to force Derek to marry her?

How a woman like her wanted to marry Derek with the baby?

"Dad, I have an idea..."

Violet's face darkened. She leaned against Mr. Xavier's ear, whispering a few words. A trace of determination and malice flashed across her eyes.

She would never allow Meredith to become an obstacle to Derek's future!

Derek had been staying in the hospital. Since Meredith was in a coma, he didn't want to continue his work. He just wanted to stay here until she woke up.

However, due to the busy work in recent days, which was almost day and night, he was a little tired and unconsciously fell asleep beside Meredith's bed.

When Meredith woke up, it was late. She opened her eyes. Because the lights were not on in the room to avoid disturbing her rest, everything was blurry.

She raised her hand and found a man lying on the side of the bed. She reached out and touched the man's face. Only then did Derek wake up, "Are you awake?"

Derek was roused from sleep, and his exhaustion was swept away.

Hearing Derek's voice, Meredith was in emotional turmoil. What was he doing here now?

Was Derek afraid that something might happen to her, which would then implicate him and ruin his reputation?

At the thought of that, the bitterness in Meredith's heart grew stronger. She lowered her voice, preventing Derek from hearing the restlessness in her heart, "What are you doing here?"

Derek recognized the coldness in her words, but he didn't want to argue with her, "I'll call the doctor."

"No, I can do it myself. If there's nothing else, Mr. Xavier would better leave here. Otherwise, it's not good to cause unnecessary misunderstandings to others.”

Meredith said coldly. The only thing she could be glad of was that the room was now totally dark. Therefore, Derek could not see her expression clearly, allowing her to retain her dignity.

"Don't you want to see me that much?" Derek had been here all afternoon. He had just woken up when he was given the cold shoulder, so his tone was a little angry.

"Yes, I don't want to see you. I'm afraid I'll feel sick when I see your face."

Meredith clenched her fists. With her nails embedded in her palms, waves of sharp pain hit her, but it seemed that she couldn't feel it.

He has been engaged to Chloe, but he kept her uninformed about it. Now he was acting as he cared about her so much. Who would he show it to?

She was probably another pet that he kept outside, like the woman in the hotel that day. When he was happy, he came to tease her, and when she was unhappy, he just kicked her away.

She couldn't... She wouldn't let herself be a despised mistress, and she couldn't let her child be illegitimate...

"Say it again?" Hearing Meredith's words, Derek suddenly felt that his worry just now was silly. How could she feel disgusted about him? Who was the one who made her feel delighted?

Is the one Julius or Parker? Or the biological father of the baby in her stomach?

"Mr. Xavier, please conduct yourself with dignity in the future. Don't bother me again. The father of my baby will be unhappy!"
