The Good Girl's Revenge

Chapter 217

When words got in the way, Derek glanced at Meredith. Indeed, she looked bad and she was a little tired.

In the end, he still did not refute her words but turned his head and no longer looked at her. He looked at the scenery outside the window and said"Since you insist, then go ahead. I will leave now and you can have a good rest here.”

Meredith let out a soft "hum." The two of them were so quiet that no one spoke again.

Derek's hotel was indeed very close to here, and the company directly booked the presidential suite, not only fully equipped but even with a small swimming pool not far away.

"You have rest here. When you want to go back, ask the driver to drive you back."

Derek gave the room card to Meredith and left without a pause.

Meredith frowned and watched him leave. She did not ask him to stay. Since Derek had something to do, she would not force him to stay here. At worst, she could wait here for a long time.

Meredith put down thermos in her hand, opened it, and a heavy and sweet fragrance came from inside. She smiled. This was done by her with great effort, but Derek did not take a single sip.

At the thought of this, Meredith was a little distracted. At this moment, her phone rang. It was from Amelia.

When Meredith came to her, Amelia was sleeping, so Meredith didn't wake her up. Now that Amelia saw her daughter was not there, Amelia had to ask Meredith where Meredith was.

"Don’t worry, mom, I'm..." Meredith wanted to say that she had come to see Derek, but when she thought that her mother had been waiting for the chance to meet him but that Derek might not have time to meet her mother, she held back. "I'm a little tired. I just rest at home.”

Amelia knew her daughter quite well. When she noticed the hesitation in Meredith's tone, she knew that it must not be that simple. "What's the matter, Mer, are you in trouble? Tell it to me, or else I will be worried about you so much.”

Meredith smiled. "There's really nothing, mom. I just woke up, so I am a little confused. Are you okay there?"

Meredith was afraid that Amelia would be disappointed to know about Derek, so she decided to keep it a secret.

When she realized that Meredith didn't want to tell her the reason, Amelia sighed. "My little girl..." "Well, forget it if you don't want to say it. If there's anything that makes you unhappy, you should tell me. Also, when is Derek free? He has to accompany you no matter what. You are about to give birth and are still out there alone.”

Amelia really felt distressed for her daughter. She always felt that Derek's status was too high to be her daughter's husband.

She didn't want Meredith to be too humble.

"Well, I'll talk to him sometime.” When Meredith realized that Amelia was urging Derek to meet Amelia again, Meredith was afraid couldn't hide it anymore. She hurriedly talked of other topics for a few words and hung up the phone.

After she hung up the phone, Meredith stood up with some melancholy. She knew what her mother was thinking. Her mother just wanted to see if Derek was worthy of being entrusted with Meredith's life and hope that Meredith would be happy.

It was just...

Meredith was full of confidence before, but she lost some of that due to Derek's inexplicable behavior. However, she still didn't want to give up.

It was getting dark, and Meredith gradually got sleepy. She lay on the sofa and couldn't help but doze off. She waited in a daze for Derek to come back.

She was like a wife waiting for her husband to come home.

Derek had dinner with a few business partners outside and deliberately stayed there for a while before returning to the hotel. He was relieved to see that the lights were off.
