The Good Girl's Revenge

Chapter 207

Derek relaxed a little after seeing Meredith agree. "It's getting late. You should rest too."

"Well, you should take care of yourself over there... And..." Meredith thought about the paternity test. "When you come back, I have something very important to tell you."

Something important? Derek was a little confused, but since Meredith said so, he didn't have to disappoint her. "Okay, I got it."

Meredith nodded, hung up the phone, and then looked at the baby in her belly. He seemed to notice that his mother was in a good mood, and his little foot kicked her.

"Well..."

Meredith was caught off guard. It was the first time the baby had shown his existence like this. She was happy and wanted to share this joy with Derek.

"Do you miss daddy too? Daddy will be back soon.”

Meredith muttered in a low voice, holding her cell phone. For the first time, she had the idea that time should pass quickly so that she could tell Derek the news as early as possible.

After Derek hung up the phone, he devoted himself to his work. He had to finish his business as soon as possible and then went to see Meredith.

Although he had only been away for a day, he had already begun to miss that woman.

Moreover, the secret she mentioned inexplicably made him look forward to it.

Time passed quickly as he focused on his work.

At night, when Derek returned home, he saw Chloe, who was having a good talk with Mr. Xavier, and his brows furrowed almost imperceptibly.

"Derek's back? Come to see what you're wearing that day?"

Mr. Xavier felt that this was a rare happy event for the Xaviers, which could wash away the recent misfortune, so he personally went to manage this engagement.

Derek was not in the mood. Why he agreed to get engaged was only because he didn't want Violet to get hurt. He didn't have any sense of participation in the details of the ceremony.

"I'm a little tired today. You can make the decision. I don't care.”

Derek found an excuse and was about to go upstairs. Mr. Xavier looked angry. "Stop. This is your great event. How can you be so perfunctory?”

"Grandpa, calm down, please. Derek is so tired from work."

Chloe was aware of Derek's perfunctory manner, but she explained for Derek with an elegant and dignified smile.

Derek nodded. "She agreed, so I'll go up first."

After that, regardless of their expressions, he left directly.

"Ah."

Mr. Xavier felt melancholy and patted Chloe on the back of her hand. "We've wronged you.”

Chloe shook her head and looked at the man's tall back. She did not care about these formalities. Although she was disappointed, as long as she could be with him again, she could endure no matter how aggrieved she was!

Seeing that Chloe was so reasonable, Mr. Xavier showed more love and pity for her. "Don't worry, if Derek is not good to you in the future. Just tell me, I can be useful!”

Hearing Mr. Xavier's words, Chloe was delighted. After all, Old Master was a respectable elder. Winning his favor would make her relationship with Derek much smoother.

Derek went back to his bedroom and pulled off his tie. To be honest, the day's work was tiring, but what made him even more upset was the engagement ceremony that was not his own choice.

He always had a feeling that this ceremony would cause a lot of trouble, but for Violet would be able to get treatment obediently, he had no choice.

The man thought about other things for a while, took out his phone, and had a look. It should be late at night for Meredith. He did not disturb her rest, so he called someone else.

"How are things going with the Masons?"

Sine Damian was in other place, Derek had to leave the Masons issue to someone else.

"Now that Ava is under control, Clara is looking for Wesley everywhere, trying to get someone to bail Ava out, but we found out and they won't have a chance to succeed.”

After listening to this, Derek was in a better mood.

Immediately, the corners of his lips curled up. If Meredith knew that those who bullied her were going to end up like this, she would be very happy.

Just as he was thinking, his phone rang. It was an unfamiliar number.

Clara was holding the phone, shaking and hysterical. "Derek, you did it, didn't you? Where's my husband? Where is he?"

Clara was not as elegant and superior as before. First, Wesley went abroad and went missing. Now, he had no contact with his family.

And then, the news of their framing Meredith suddenly came to light, and Leo became the witness and testify against them. the Masons’ benevolent reputation had been collapsed in an instant, and the stock price dropped so much that it was almost impossible to pay the employees’ salaries. Then, Ava was taken away by the police to investigate, and now she had no chance to visit...

All these bad things were about to crush her. Clara immediately thought that it was Meredith who did these. However, she made a lot of calls and looked everywhere for Meredith's whereabouts, but nothing could be found.

The only thing she could figure out right now was that Derek had helped Meredith do these things. After all, with Meredith's ability, it was impossible to do this.

"It's me. So what?" Derek said coldly, "When you dared to do this to Meredith back then, you should have thought that one day all the darkness would be seen by people under the sun. In the end, you deserve all the punishment.”

"Derek, you must die a horrible death, so does Meredith. She actually harmed her family!"

Clara was completely out of control, shouting angrily. Derek was not angry. "Don’t worry, Meredith won't die. She'll be better than you. You should think about how to get your precious daughter out of prison. And, I'm afraid you're going to jail too."

With that, Derek hung up the phone.

Outside the door, there was a knock on the door.

Just then, Chloe talked to Old Master for a while and everything was settled. At this time, the housekeeper came over and said, "Old Master, Miss Bennett, dinner is ready.”

Only then did the two of them notice that it was getting late. "Chloe, go and ask Derek to come down for dinner.”

Old Master intended to create more opportunities for Chloe to get along with Derek. She nodded and walked up obediently.

As soon as she reached the door, she heard Derek on the phone. For some reason, she did not knock, but leaned in to listen.

Chloe wanted to hear more about what Derek had been doing recently. However, she still heard the name Meredith, and more than once.

Chloe was very sure that when Derek called this name, there was no anger or disgust, but some indulgence.

Could it be that they hadn't broken up totally?
