The Good Girl's Revenge

Chapter 138

"I will make this clear to her. Please don't give her false hope.”

Derek was troubled and couldn't help but rub his forehead.

The die was cast for him and Chloe. In this case, Derek did not want to waste Chloe's time anymore. Rather than giving her false hope and kept her dangling, it was better to break off once and for all. Violet's well-preserved face showed a look of incomprehension. Derek loved Chloe as if he could die for her, but how could he avoid her like the plague now?

"Then tell me, since you don't want her, is there anyone else you like?"

For Violet, it didn't have to be Chloe anyway. But Derek set his bar too high.

Chloe was endowed with both beauty and talent, and she was a childhood sweetheart for Derek. If Chloe was not his choice, Violet didn't know which woman could ever meet Derek's standards. Could it be that scheming woman who had been in jail?

At the thought of this possibility, Violet said with a disapproving face, "Derek, don't tell me you are considering Meredith.”

Derek didn't say anything, but his eyes darkened in shade. He knew that with Meredith's awkward identity, the Xaviers would never accept her. The only way was to find out the truth, prove her innocence, and gradually convince Derek's family members to accept her.

Derek's silence was equivalent to acquiescence. Violet witnessed Derek's growth, so how could she not understand what he was thinking?

Violet's graceful face showed some anger, "Derek, I don't care who you like, but Meredith is definitely unacceptable. She's not even qualified to be your mistress!”

Thinking of Meredith's background and her filthy past, Violet felt worried.

Her son was the favored child in their family and the heir nurtured with every effort by the Xaviers. How could he get tangled up with an ex-prisoner? This would definitely be a stain on Derek's life. "I have my own thoughts on this matter.”

Derek had no intention of arguing with his mother. When the truth revealed, there would always be a solution. It was not a good idea to cut the diamond with diamond now.

Meredith was in the bathroom. She had already taken a few steps back from the door and stopped eavesdropping. However, the voice of them talking still reached her eardrums like a spell.

Violet usually spoke gently and acted like a lady. It was the first time Meredith had heard Violet's voice so out of place.

And it was because of her. Meredith didn’t know if it was a pleasure or something.

For Violet, anyone but Meredith was suitable for Derek.

She was unwanted for sure.

Meredith suddenly had the urge to leave this place as soon as possible and stop inviting humiliation.

But Violet was still outside. Meredith couldn't even leave the bathroom, she could only listen. After a few more words, Derek and Violet still did not reach a consensus. Violet had to leave. Violet knew Derek's temper too well. If she confronted the tough with toughness, it might make him more determined. So...

She had to talk to Meredith.

Having made up her mind, Violet's eyes darkened through deliberations. She said to the driver, "Go find out where Meredith is now. I want to talk to her."

Hearing that Violet had left, Meredith came out of the bathroom.

However, there was no expression on her face at the moment.

"You heard everything?" How could Derek not understand what Meredith was thinking? Violet's words were unpleasant to hear, and it was normal for her to feel uncomfortable about it. "Nothing." Meredith didn't want to talk about it with Derek either. What was the point of that anyway?

That was her actual situation, and there was nothing to say about it.

"I'll take care of your matter as soon as possible. You don't need to worry. Forget about what my mother said."

Hearing Derek's explanation, Meredith only nodded perfunctorily. After all, Derek was not just a man, but also the hope of the Xaviers. If the entire the Xaviers objected, she was not sure how long she could hold.

Thinking about it, she was a little tired.

"I want to go back and rest.”

Seeing that Meredith was not in a good mood, Derek said a few words to comfort her. However, those words went in Meredith's one ear and out the other.

After a while, Damian arrived with a set of clean clothes in his hands.

"Boss. Miss Mason."

Meredith walked over right away, "Thanks."

Then she went to the bathroom to change into clean clothes.

"The thing I asked you to investigate, give me the results as soon as possible."

Derek knew that only finding out the truth could dispel Meredith's low spirits. "Remember, don't mention it to anyone that I asked you to look into it."

If his grandpa or mother found out about it, they might make trouble for Meredith.

"I understand.” Damian nodded and looked at Derek's serious look. Sure enough, Boss was serious about Miss Mason.

Meredith changed her clothes and looked at the person in the mirror. It was only a few while, but she felt she had changed into someone else, whose eyes and brows were covered with sorrow. What was she thinking? How could she believe that they could live happily together, just because Derek comforted her?

That fairytale ending was never something that an unfortunate person like her could expect. Meredith adjusted her mood and walked out. The unpleasant expressions were gone, and she was rather quite calm.

"Let's go," Meredith said to Damian.

She did not even look at Derek. Since there was no hope, why adding to her reluctance to leave? "Meredith..." Derek looked at her receding figure. His heart became gloomy.

It seemed that this matter must be solved as soon as possible.

Damian sent Meredith home. On the way home, neither of them spoke.

Damian felt that Meredith was in a bad mood, and he was confused.

Boss had already started finding out the truth, then why was she feeling even more down now? Meredith didn't bother to talk. She just wanted to be alone and isolate herself from the outside world.

"I'm heading back.” After arriving at the destination, Meredith waved at Damian and went upstairs. Damian then called Derek to report about it and stayed there for a while before leaving.

When Meredith got home, she went into the bathroom and let the hot water wash over her body. She was feeling the water and really wanted it to wash away all her troubles.

That way, she wouldn't be branded as a criminal, looked down upon by everyone, or be told that she wasn't even qualified to be the lover of someone she liked.

Just as she was thinking, Meredith's phone suddenly rang.

She walked over, glanced at the name, and frowned.

It was Leo.

After a moment of hesitation, Meredith pressed the answer button, "What is it?"
