Chapter War Meeting

Julie POV

This morning I decided to go for a run with Max. Usually, Aphrodite does that with Ares every morning. But today, I woke up energised from all the work feeding my soul. The hospital work was gratifying for my soul as it was before. We had done an excellent job so far, and there were not many wolves at the hospital or in treatment. Every time Aphrodite cured one, I felt happier and loved by them all.

Slowly we were getting all our duties at the Blue Moon. And apart from the hospital work, we started working at the school, and this afternoon we were going to help cook dinner for the pack with the Omegas. The Omegas were looking forward to having their Luna in the kitchen today.

Max was playfully biting my tail while I tried to run in front of him. Every day I felt more and more loved by him. “We have much work at the hospital today, Jules. Finish your play, and we should leave after. The pack needs to be stronger.” Aphrodite’s voice came into my mind, and she had been pushing the hospital work hard since we returned to the pack house.

She wanted everyone cured and back as they were before, living everyday life and training. It was like she was preparing for something, or it could be because she wanted the pack to be satisfied and felt sorry for the depressed wolves. Love was her motto, and she could not feel anyone sad.

“Max! We should return now. Aphrodite is eager to get to the hospital.” I got distracted, mindlinking him, and Max tackled me to the ground playing. “Oh, little wolf, we did not even dive into the lake yet. There was nearly nobody at the hospital like that, Doctor Paul, and the healers will have to find another profession.” Max chuckled on the mindlink and came on top of me, rubbing his snoot on my face.

“They will have plenty of work, Max. There are some things Aphrodite can’t cure. Are you happy with Aphrodite’s work?” Max stopped rubbing himself on me and looked into my eyes. “I am very pleased you are mine, little wolf. You and Aphrodite are the best thing that happened to me.”

His love involved my body through the bond. “We are happy to be yours too, Max.”

Max softly bit my mark, showing his love, and took off running and laughing. I struggled to catch up with him and just did because he slowed down. He was just too fast. When we returned to the pack house, it was lively, with many people from different ranks going around with their day.

“Julie, I will go to the training grounds now. Aphrodite has released so many people from treatment that Terry and Ger struggle to train everybody. I will be helping them from now on.” Max rubbed his head on my neck, saying goodbye and left for the other side of the pack.

I headed to my room to get ready for the day and shifted back when I got inside the bedroom. “Alright, A. I will take a quick shower first.”

“Jules, I should talk to Terry. He lost his mate very young and never chose a mate after that. It is time we help him with that.” What Aphrodite said to me was impressive. I never thought we could help Terry like that. “That would be great, A. Can you create a mate bond as we have with Ares and Max?”

“No, Jules. Only Selene can do that. His destinated mate is dead, and he lost his chance. But I can give him true love. It is close enough. He will be living happily with his chosen.” Looking in the mirror, fixing my green dress, I nodded. “Yes, A. He might be open to that. Let’s go to the hospital now. Terry is busy with the training, and we can catch up with him later.”

As soon as I put my hair up in a ponytail, Aphrodite took over and walked downstairs, where Conor was waiting for us. Conor bowed to her. “Morning, Luna Aphrodite. Where to this early?” Conor always checked my eyes before greeting me. He always knew who was in charge and liked Aphrodite the way he liked me.

“Good morning, my favourite guard. We will be going only to the hospital today. We must return early to start cooking all the meals with the Omegas.” Aphrodite sassily winked at Conor. Of course, there were no favourites. He was her only guard.

Conor smiled, and both started the ten-minute walk to the pack hospital, enclosed in conversation. Aphrodite spread love to anyone she encountered in her path, and everyone could see their facial expressions changing.

Doctor Paul was at the reception when Aphrodite arrived and looked surprised when he saw her. “Morning, Aphrodite. I thought you would be getting on with your other duties. There is not much to do here anymore.”

“No, Doctor Paul. My work here is only done after all the wolves from the help centre, and she-wolves that cannot conceive have returned to normal. Let’s go to your office and check the list with the names of the last ones I will look after today.” A bright smile formed on her face, and Doctor Paul felt her love and went to do exactly what she wanted.

As Doctor Paul said, only a few names were left on his list. Aphrodite finished the work at the hospital and did some house calls to the she-wolves that could not conceive. Max and Terry had their hands full with the number of wolves back in training, and soon Doctor Paul would have his hands full, delivering all the pups.

By afternoon Aphrodite had finished the rest of Doctor Paul’s list and returned to the pack house. We spotted Ger as soon as we entered the pack house. His bright smile was never fated after finding out his mate was carrying his pup. He bowed to Aphrodite. “Good afternoon, Luna.”

“Head Warrior, it won’t be long till your mate deliver your pup. Make sure to call me. I want to help with your pup’s arrival. It was my first work here.” I could feel how much Aphrodite wanted to be present at the pup’s birth. “Of course, Luna. I would not have it another way.”

We noticed Terry talking to another wolf at the end of the hall. “Excuse me, Head Warrior. I need to talk to my Beta.” Ger smiled, and Aphrodite dismissed Conor to talk to Terry in private.

“Beta Terry, we could go for a walk now if you are not busy.” I could feel some tension coming from him. “Is that something wrong with him, A?” Aphrodite paused for a minute to get some sense of everything. “I am not sure, Jules. It could be the amount of work he has now.”

“Of course, we can, Aphrodite.” Terry managed a smile and led the way outside. “It is time you chose a mate, Terry. I can make you both love each other.” Aphrodite could have used more time with the small talk. She went straight to her ideas. Sadness came from Terry. It must be hard to remember something you never had.

Aphrodite stopped walking and put a hand on his shoulder. “I know it is hard, but it is time. I wouldn’t say I like going against Selene’s natural order. Then it will be helpful if you choose someone that had also lost a mate. I can bind you together, and you will never again feel this emptiness inside you.”

“I am not sure if it is a good idea, Aphrodite. I am busy now with the pack and helping Max.” She looked into his eyes and poured love into him, and I felt she was manipulating his answer. Terry smiled and nodded, agreeing with everything she had just said. “Great, talking to you, Terry. Go for your love hunt because now Jules has work to do in the kitchen.”

Aphrodite headed back to the house, bouncing happily. “A, you should not manipulate people’s feelings. He needs to want this.” She gave me back control and sat on my mind. “Oh, Jules, you need to understand I don’t like no for an answer. Max is lucky that I don’t do it with him.”

I laughed. I could not give her lectures. Aphrodite had a mind of her own and would not change it for anyone. I walked quickly to the kitchen, and when I opened the door, the Omegas received me with a bright smile to start cooking.

I could not be happier to be here and be their Luna.

Jordan POV

My phone rang, and it was finally good news. The potions were finally ready, and we were prepared to move. We had five packs for the war against the Blue Moon. The numbers differed from what we needed, but it was good enough to occupy the pack. There were enough wolves to attack different borders and make Maximus send the wolves that couldn’t fight to the safe room. That will allow Michael and Tania to sneak in without being noticed.

I mindlinked Robbie and made some calls. It took me two days to get everyone to agree to meet at the Greenland Pack. It was the furthest back, and Maximus did not have Alliances around that pack. It sure would raise bells if that many Alphas, Betas and Generals were to be seen meeting in one place. It would scream war, and people would be on high alert.

Robbie and I headed to the North to meet them, and everybody was already there when we got to the Greenland Pack. “Great. I can see everybody is already getting familiar with the plan.” Tension was in the air, but having that many high-rank wolves in one place, I could not expect anything less.

“The numbers will be enough. But the Blue Moon Pack is skilled, not to mention their healers. Michael and Tania will have to find the girl quickly, or we might not be able to hold for longer.” Alpha James was the first to speak. He was very good at strategy, had been to a few wars himself and already had a plan of how we would divide the wolves.

“I agree with Alpha James. I don’t want to sacrifice my men for a girl.” Alpha Santos spoke next. His men were skilled, but he was a coward and did everything not to get into wars.

“Don’t worry, Santos. With my Witch’s disguise potion, it will take longer for the Blue Moon to notice us. And we will be able to attack them first, buying us time.” That was what I hoped for. The potion would be an advantage and might slow the Blue Moon down. I did not care if they all died as long as it would be enough time for Michael and Tania to get my girl.

Robbie moved near the table and pointed at the map. “We should be ready to move in the new moon. There is an empty land not too far from the Blue Moon. It used to be rogue land but not anymore. We can meet and set camp there and get ready to fight in the middle of the night.”

“Would Alpha Maximus’ scouts not be patrolling around it?” Santos frowned and asked Robbie. But Robbie shook his head. “I don’t think so. This land belongs to the council now, and with Maximus’ reputation, rogues don’t get that close. The Witch can put a disguise spell on the land if that makes you feel better.” What Robbie said was the truth the only time any rogue was stupid enough to pick a fight with Maximus was when Melissa put a spell on them to search inside the Omega.

John finally took charge and decided to give his input. “This place is good to meet on the new moon, and with the potions and spells, even if the scouts were closer, they would not be able to sense us. We divided the groups as Alpha James suggested, and it would be best if we fought in wolf form. Maximus is never in control when he fights. We should take a page of his playbook and do the same.”

John had been to many wars with Maximus, and his men were the most skilled in the room. He was always used to his enemies knocking on his door. And most importantly, he knew Maximus’ strategies.

“Yes, but none of us have Alpha Maximus’ wolf. He is like a beast on the field. I have never seen any other wolf fight like that. It might be good if you divided the groups, but we all Alphas stick together against Alpha Maximus. For sure, we can hold him. What do you all think?”

Alpha Charlie spoke for the first time, and they all looked at each other. I knew that was a question they had no idea how to answer but would find out soon enough.

The packs are getting ready for the war. Will Ares be able to handle them all this time? He might be. He is the God of War, after all. 😉
