Chapter Taken
Max POV
Ares started to run towards the pack house and was pushing fast. I asked him a few times what was happening, but he did not say anything. His heart was going fast, and his mind was confused.
But while we ran, I mindlinked Terry to leave with the rest of the warriors that were not injured and get to the other side to help my General. A few healers were there near, and I knew they would support the ones in need now that Ares had killed anyone trying to hurt us.
Halfway there, we felt an intense pain in the heart that led Ares to collide. We stayed there on the ground. Ares was panting from the pain and took deep breaths. “Get up, buddy. We need to get there.” I encouraged him to keep running, and he got up and started again towards the house. Before we got to the pack house, I could already sense the chaos there. Ares increased his pace and kept up when we saw our men being attacked. Ares wanted everyone’s head.
He saw two Alphas trying to get inside the pack house and jumped on them, throwing both against the wall and killing them with the impact. Ares went to the other side and finished with everyone that was there. We needed any of the Alphas alive. We could torture them and make them talk. I tried to stop Ares, but it was in vain. He needed to feel their blood in his mouth to calm him down.
He ran around checking if there were still any danger and when he figured out there was none. Ares shifted into a human and commanded Connor and Karl to shift back too, and when they did it, Ares got both by their necks against the wall of the pack house.
“Where is my MATE!!!!!!!” The pack house shook with his words, and I saw fear in their eyes.
“Ares, come down. We need them to tell us what happened.” Like that day at the nursery, I could not get back control. We needed to talk and find out where they went and who took our mate.
But, of course, Ares did not listen to me. They did not protect our mate, and he would destroy everything there if he had to. Ares did not wait for them to talk. Like dolls, Ares threw them to the other side, and they flew, landing hard on the ground.
“Ares, that is ENOUGH!!!” My mother’s voice echoed behind. “Your mate sacrificed herself to save us. She would not be happy to find out you killed her guard and Gamma. You need them to rescue her.”
Ares got confused with her message, and I used the opportunity to take control. I pushed him back. He needed a minute to cool down. Desperate, I looked at my mother’s face. “Mum.” She came to me and held me now that I was back in control. After getting back total control, I could feel the pain in my heart that my other half was no longer here.
People were getting out of the pack house to help the ones injured and passed us some shorts. I put them on and walked to where Ares had thrown Connor and Karl, and they were pretty beaten and sure had many bones broken.
“Who took her, Karl?” My voice had urgency. Karl moved his face to look at me and winced. A few healers got closer and started taking his pain away as he needed to tell me who I was going after.
“Alpha Michael and Tania. I am so sorry, Max. We did everything we could. That Witch opened a portal; that is how they got in.”
“Ares had sensed the Witch in here. If she was here, the Wolf Council must have sent her here. She was working for them.” I could not believe the Council would want a war against us. They needed our help. What would they gain from having us weak? Nothing made sense.
My eyes narrowed. “How did you all get out? Ares commanded you all to stay inside, Connor.” This time I asked Connor, which had opened his eyes.
“I am not sure.” Connor shook his head and squished his eyes, thinking. “One minute, we were guarding the door, and the next, we were fighting. Aphrodite was doing great till she killed John.”
He took a deep breath, and I could feel how ashamed they were for letting them take her. “Karl and I tried to get to her, but the wolves Aphrodite had subdued raised again from the ground and attacked me. The Witch used her powers to push Karl back, and they disappeared, closing the portal.”
“Son.” My mother held my shoulder, trying to ease my pain. “Aphrodite must have known what would happen. She left the safe room, saying she would protect us in there. You cannot blame anyone. She is a Luna and did what was best for the pack.”
I shook my head. Why, Aphrodite, did you have to come out? “No, mum, she should have been inside safe. I was out protecting everyone. Now she is gone, and there is no scent to follow.”
I looked at the she-wolves that were helping heal Karl and Connor. “Keep healing them. They might remember something important.” I noticed my father and many men returning from their positions, and I summed them back to the war room.
I called my scouts in Woodland, but Michael had not returned there. A few warriors entered Shadows Pack and accessed what was left of it, and nothing indicated that Julie had been there. My father called the Council, and Ferdinand said the Witch had found her mate and was no longer helping them. I could believe it because the Council trying to take my mate did not make sense. We were always loyal to the Council and helped them. Why would they hurt us?
In the war room, we marked the packs involved in the war with the information we had. And nothing gave out any connection between the packs. Wars always had connections, and Michael had nothing to offer those packs for Julie. The packs were far from one another John could not want an Alliance between them. What would they all gain by helping Michael keep Julie? That was a question that I did not have an answer to.
Now that Ares was cool enough, I stopped blocking him. “Ares, are you feeling anything? Could you contact Aphrodite?”
“No. I can’t feel her, Max!” Ares’ voice was anxious. Even if she were far, he could have reached her.
“Do you think she is dead?” I didn’t want to ask, but I had to.
“NO, we would have felt the pain of the mating bond breaking, Max.”
“But you felt pain, Ares.” That pain when he was running was intense. Could it be it?
“It wasn’t of her dying, Maximus!!!!!” There was no use in me thinking the worse. Ares went away and left me alone.
I looked around the room, and they were all waiting on my command. I needed to figure out where to start. We needed clues about where Julie could be; everything was based on scent, and hers ended up outside the pack house. There were no leads.
“Terry, bring me Sarah the Witch. She might be able to help us. Maybe she can cast a tracking spell.” I was not convinced Sarah would be able to do any good. She was good at potions and small things. She had lost her coven very young and was not a powerful Witch. But right now, we had to try anything.

Julie POV
I felt dizzy when we got out of the portal. It was a new experience that I wished I had never experienced. Alone without Aphrodite, I was scared. I didn’t know what uncle Michael would do to me. “A, please talk to me. I can’t feel you.” I was still on his shoulders, and while he walked, everything was blurry, but I was sure I was not in Woodland. It did not smell like it.
“Come with me, Alpha Michael. We have found a room to keep her in as he requested.” Upside down, I could not see the person, but the voice was strong, and I had never heard it before.
When he threw me inside this cold room, I knew I had to ask about my wolf. “What did you do to my wolf?” I was trying to control my emotions. I did not want him to feel how scared I was for being there alone.
He laughed hard, and it gave me chills. “The same thing I did to your father. But with him were small dosages every day on his meals. It was too small that his wolf never sensed it.”
He chained me to the wall and looked at me with wolf eyes. “Wolfsbane.” My breath got accelerated. Did she kill her? I tried to contact her again, and nothing.
“Don’t waste your energy contacting her. She won’t be back for a while. You are lucky my wolf wants her, or I would have killed her. She was the one that helped you escape me, was she not?”
I looked at that monster in front of me. He had poised my father. That was how he won the challenge.
“Don’t worry, Omega. As soon as it is safe to leave here, I will bring you back to that shed I told you never to leave. My wolf will be content to have you first and make your wolf obey him. I have enough wolfsbane to keep her in line.”
He smiled at me, and it disgusted me. I had never done anything to him. Why did he hate me so much? We were alone in the room, but it did not last long. Tania walked in carrying a Silver knife like a crazy woman, ready to kill me.
“You killed my father. Now, I will kill you.” Uncle Michael’s wolf took control and shoved her to the floor. “If you touch her, I will kill you. She is mine. Only I can hurt her.”
Tania nodded, quickly obeying the Alpha command, and I knew I was safe for now. But what will happen when he is the one hurting me? I pulled the chains, but the Silver only burned my skin further. The Silver was directly in contact with my skin. It was making me sick and dizzy.
The Witch got inside the room with two more people, and I could see they were the same men that visited us at the Blue Moon. They were from the Wolf Council.
“I can see you two are having problems with each other. Why don’t you step outside for a while to cool down? I will keep our guest company.” Jordan spoke to them. Yes, I remember his voice. It was the same man. Michael’s eyes were no longer red, and he helped Tania to get up, and they left me alone with them.
“I am sorry, dear. I can see we are on a bad start.” Jordan smiled at me, and I was confused. Why was the Council working with my uncle? We had a claim against him. Did they not believe I was telling the truth?
“Are the Silver chains essential, Melissa?” Jordan asked the Witch. Did she tell uncle Michael to put those on me?
“Yes, Jordan. It binds her wolf’s powers. You would not believe what she did with the Alphas and warriors at war.”
“Why am I here? Why are you helping my uncle? He had hurt me for years. Please help me. You have it all wrong. I am not a Witch.” I tried to stand and walk closer to them, but the chains did not let me. Max had proved I was not a Witch. Why was she binding my powers and helping Michael?
Jordan walked closer and tried to pet my hair, and I moved back. I was not his for him to rub me.
Jordan shook his head and snorted at my actions. “What a waste. She is so pretty and will get scars for life with those chains. Not sure if I will want her as my Queen anymore.” His voice had sarcasm.
“And the Wolfsbane? Did you use it?” His voice was increasingly malicious, and they seemed to be entertained by me in pain.
“Yes. Aphrodite is numb now. I use only half of the dosage. You would not want to kill her before making Maximus do what you want.”
What?? What has Max to do with any of this? Jordan clapped his hands like he was in a circus.
“Our little Omega is confused now. Without her wolf to keep things hidden, she is an open book. Oh, sweetheart, you don’t know what will come.”
He looked at them and smirked. “With you in my possession, Maximus will do anything I want. Including making me an Alpha King.” Jordan pocked his chest, proud of what he would become. “Soon, your beloved mate will be on his knees, bowing to me.” Jordan started to laugh, and the others joined him before leaving me in the dark.
“Please, A. Wake up. We need to get out of her.”
Ares cannot reach Aphrodite because of the Wolfsbane poison. She has to wake up soon, or Julie will be in trouble. Jordan, Tania, and Michael have different destinies for her, none of which includes giving her back to her mate.
I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend. 😊💕
