The Girl Called Trouble

Chapter Early Days

It has been over a week. I go to the park almost every day. Some days I don't know if I'm awake or in a dream. I crave normalcy so much that I do everything that I can to create it. I rarely mention my past and I contact no one.

"It's $15 for a reading." As I hear it, I stand to take over the table as Hera walks a customer to the bench. I sell to whichever customer seems interested. So far I have been paid, so I do the job. I am somewhat drained. I know why and she is an idiot. Only somebody half dead can use my gift.

I look in the mirror but I barely recognize my own appearance. My one dark brown hair has almost turned silver now and my eyes are purple. It has been five months since they found me on the side of the road.

For five months I haven't said anything. Not one word. I hear everything. I am in a small community a few miles away from where I was killed. Today I am going to church with the couple who found me. I know what I have to do.

"I am drained, those reading take a lot out of me." I hear what she says but the look of confusion on her face is priceless.

"Is there anything you need?" I show nothing.

"No, I just need rest."

"HERA" I hear a woman call out for her.

I watch the two. Hera introduces us but I forget her name almost immediately. I walk back to the bench as Hera takes the table.

I watch the man on the floor and I know its my time. I walk over and point at him.

"The evil man has met his fate. I see the darkness in his eyes. His heart will stop and he will go where his kind belong. Do not grieve for him." I say all of this as I point my finger at him. His face goes red as he lays on the ground barely moving.

Most people are not fully evil or good. Some are good with a bit of evil, some are evil with a little good. Most people, have equal parts good and evil. Every person has a chance to change their fate. Looking at Hera, I realize there is only one fate I would truly like to change.
