The Gay Nerd Who Stole His Heart

Chapter 65

Kylan's fingers were slowly tightening the knot of the tie, his focused eyes causing Jonah's hormones to race. As he reached forward, his fingers finding Kylan's zipper, Kylan chuckled, glanced upwards for a moment before returning his eyes on

the tie, "We need to leave soon."

"Let's leave all sweaty then," he bit his bottom lip seductively, and Kylan gulped.

He was irresistible.

Kylan finished helping Jonah tie his tie and stepped backward for a moment to make certain it was not crooked.

He raised an eyebrow, "Where are we going again?"

"I never told you," Jonah smiled.

Kylan nodded his head, "You should."

"You would say no if I did."

"It's really early too. It's only noon."

"Are you complaining already?"

"No," Kylan shook his head, "We've never had to dress up this early before."

"Well then, maybe it's something better than you expect."

Jonah opened the door for Kylan, and they both exited the condo. However, as they were stepping into the elevator, a hand flew in right before it closed. When the doors reopened, a woman frantically rushed inside. Both of them could not help but examine her, Jonah wishing he could whistle since she was one hot woman. Kylan even agreed in his mind; she was wearing a tight red dress with gold heels and long gorgeous blond hair that fell to her butt.

Kylan's face sharply turned to Jonah, and Jonah was staring back at him. He was hoping he would not find Jonah gawking at her.

"You live in the other condo on our floor?" Jonah asked nicely, but that only caused a fit of sudden jealousy to rise into Kylan, who instantly interlaced their fingers.

The woman nodded her head, "I moved in a few days ago; I was at your party, but you both were arguing, so that must be why you hadn't noticed me."

Kylan was counting down the seconds the elevator would reach the lobby.

"I'm Jonah," he extended his palm, the woman shaking it fiercely, "and my friend, Kylan."

"Oh, I was sure you were both gay," she shrugged her shoulders, "nice to meet you. I'm Sam."

"We are"

Jonah chuckled loud enough for her not to hear Kylan, and the doors finally opened.

"Well, a brief talk, but I'm glad I've met neighbors," she left the elevator, "I'll see you both soon."

Kylan was livid. He exited the elevator detaching their fingers and stormed out of the door building. Jonah knew he was mad but followed behind him without saying anything until they entered Jonah's car. Immediately when the doors were shut, Kylan hissed, "I can't believe you would do that to me."

"Keep our relationship private?"

"We've been together for about six years now, and you still have the audacity to call us friends?"

Jonah paused for a moment, eyed him strangely before turning to motor on, "You're making it a bigger deal than it is."

"Did she turn you on?"

"She was hot. Let's not act like it was nothing," Jonah replied aggressively, "but I love you, so what does it matter." "Right, I forgot, you're not gay."

"Why the fuck do you continuously say that when I look at a girl?" Jonah slammed his palm against the steering wheel as he glanced towards Kylan, "I check out girls, but if I were completely straight, I would have wanted to spend the rest of my life with a girl. I want to spend the rest of my fucking life with you, so cut that shit out right now."

"Do you want to spend the rest of your life with me? Or are you just saying that—"

"Shut up," Jonah hissed, "because you're going to start saying things you can't go back on."

Kylan scoffed, turned away, but listened.

They drove for about four hours until Kylan realized they were exiting the highway at their old hometown and immediately sat up in his seat. He had not been here for weeks, Ella always visiting him, and he was not prepared to go back either. Jonah noticed that Kylan's eyes were frowning and said, "I promise, it's nothing bad."

"Why the hell are we here?"

"Just wait it out, please."

Eventually, they stopped at Jonah's old house. It was the huge mansion of the ex-mayor, parents still living there. When they parked inside the gated home, leaving their car at the entrance, Jonah finally turned to Kylan and said, "My Dad invited me for dinner."

Kylan furrowed his brows, "I thought you stopped talking to your Dad-"

"I had. This was recent."

"You never told me," Kylan said quietly.

Jonah shrugged his shoulders, "Because you would freak out on me."

"Yes, because he slandered me on national TV, saying that I changed you and corrupted you." It was true; after Jonah left home and headed for Roosevelt with Kylan, the mayor decided to make a speech about his son on national television. He spoke about Kylan and said that he was why his son's life had changed for the worst.

"It doesn't matter," Jonah sighed, "he's still my Dad."

"I'm not getting out of this car."

"Kylan, please. I need to reconnect with my family-"

"No, you don't."

"They told me I could bring you. They said they would try and understand us."

"They're going to hurt us, Jonah."

"If you really loved me, you would do this for me."

That caused Kylan to bit his bottom lip, reluctant. However, when Jonah leaned over the cupboards and placed a gentle kiss on Kylan's neck, then another one on his jawline, and then finally reached his lips and pressed the most gentle one, Kylan descended from the car.

They interlaced their fingers before walking towards the door, and the butler opened, "Welcome back, Prince. They've been awaiting your arrival."

"Sweet, I need something to drink."

"There's already wine at the table."

When they reached the dining room, he found his father sitting at the end beside his mother. Along with that, his two siblings, Vladimir and Bella, were also present in their seats, dressed elegantly, and they all stood to their feet when they realized Jonah had arrived.

"My boy, how have you been?" his mother smiled warmly, wrapping her arms around his shoulders.

To Kylan, she tightened her lips into a fine line and returned to her seat.

"I hear you've been making big moves in your industry?" his father chimed as he greeted his son.

To Kylan, he didn't even look at him.

His siblings hugged him as well, but to Kylan, they only nodded their heads without even smiling. Kylan immediately sensed the strained energy they had against him but brushed it aside.

He sat beside Jonah, their glass of wine already on the table, and Kylan immediately downed the entire class, needing to feel himself loosen a bit.

His father began the conversation, "I hope you've been doing well, my son."

"I have, I've been continually exploring new ways to expand my company; I'm having a branch built in the United Kingdom at the moment; hence I hope it broadens."

"Woah," Vladimir was admired, "I am proud of you, Jonah."

"What about you?" He did not wait even a second before already beginning to question Kylan, who raised an eyebrow.

"Yes?"

"What have you been doing with your life?"

Jonah's jaw tightened, but when he felt Kylan's palm on his thigh, he forced his mouth to remain shut as Kylan replied, "I'm basically a housewife."

The joke did not make them laugh, and Kylan chuckled for a bit before turning back to his glass of wine and sipping slowly, attempting to avoid chatting with them. "Our partnership works-"

"But he does not work?" Jonah's mother inhaled sharply.

Jonah shook his head, "There's no need for him to."

"You provide him with all his needs," his father was not in approval, "He needs to have a bit of independence."

"Trust me. If you lived in our home, you would think Jonah's the one dependent on me," Kylan laughed.

Jonah sharply turned to Kylan, who noticed the stained look in his eyes, causing Kylan's lips to immediately squeeze shut.

"Well, I wanted to invite you all to my baby shower. It is next week, on Thursday," Vladimir lightened the tension.

"You're having a baby?" Jonah exclaimed. He had been terribly disconnected from his family, that he did not even know Vladimir's wife was pregnant.

Vladimir nodded, "Yes, I am. We are having the gender reveal as well - you must all come."

"I'll be there," Jonah smiled.

His mother tilted her head to the side with a sigh, "It's unfortunate you will never get one of those, Jonah."

The silence that fell onto the table was so heavy that Kylan thought he had put on extra weight. Both of them were stunned that she would ever feel comfortable saying such a thing, and even Vladimir inhaled sharply from her comment. Although Jonah wanted to slam the empty plate in front of him onto the ground and break the entire dining table, a healthy smile remained on his lips. He did not move for a moment, raking rigidly sitting as he focused on Kylan's thumb massaging his thigh.

Soon enough, he cleared his throat and said, "When is the food going to be ready?"

"Just now, actually," the chef entered the dining room, along with his assistants, and began deposing the large tray of food onto the table. Kylan gawked at everything that was brought and glanced at Jonah, who did not seem content at all. Jonah was seconds from serving himself when his mother stopped him, "We must say our blessings before we eat."

He raised an eyebrow, "We've never done that before "

"Lord, thank you for allowing us to be as a family-" and she went on, closing her eyes and clamping her palms in front of her. His father did the same, but no way could Jonah do such.

He knew what they were playing at and instead sat respectfully but did not close his eyes.

Until they said, "Amen."

"Mother, why are you doing this?"

She raised an eyebrow cluelessly, "Excuse me?"

"I said, why are you doing this?" Jonah folded his arms, "We've never prayed before."

She shrugged her shoulders, "We started turning to religion recently."

"For what?"

His father spoke, "We were hoping that religion would heal your corrupted sight."

"My corrupted sight?"

"You must understand Jonah," Vladimir was the one to speak next, wanting the animosity to calm itself for a moment, "homosexuality was never a topic in our home. Nor was it something you ever expressed before you met Kylan." "What does it matter if it wasn't? Why can't you guys just accept it?"

"Because it isn't right!" His mother exclaimed, slamming her palm against the table, "You fell in love with a lost boy that does not even have parents. A father that does not even cherish him, I've done my research. Not a trace of wealth, not even a career. You mustn't judge us for wanting the best for you, and being gay is not the best for you."

"My mother died giving birth to me," Kylan snapped, "don't disrespect my parents because they couldn't be there, not because they didn't want to."

"Oh please, your sob story is not wanted here."

"You changed our son," his father spat, "brainwashed him."

"He didn't do anything," Jonah shouted.

"Yes, he did, Jonah," Bella inserted her piece, "you're not gay."

"I didn't come here to be slandered for my relationship - I thought you guys had finally decided to move past our differences and live as a family."

"That could never happen if you label yourself as homosexual," his mother retorted.

Kylan shook his head, "I can't believe how ignorant you are."

"Do not speak to my wife with such disrespect."

"Then tell your wife to shut her stupid little trap," Kylan chuckled incredulously, "I'm disgusted."

"Kylan, relax," Jonah breathed in his ear, "Let's leave."

"No, don't touch me," Kylan pushed away from Jonah, standing to his feet, "I knew it was going to be like this, I told you. But you begged me to come here."

Jonah shook his head, standing to his feet when Kylan stormed away from the dining room. He shook his head, facing his family one last time before hissing, "Don't contact me ever again."

He exited the dining room, rushing after Kylan, and he eventually found him outside the entrance gates, his phone in his ear.

Jonah approached him, "Kylan, listen-"

"No, I'm done listening to you. I knew they were going to slander me and make me feel like it's all my fault that you left them, which is the truth," his eyes were teary, and his voice was shaky. "They said they only wanted dinner-"

"Obviously, they didn't, Jonah. Since when have you been Christian? It's no coincidence that it prohibits same-sex relationships."

Jonah paused for a moment, seeing Kylan begin to cry as he turned away on his phone, "Yes, I'm at the front of the home."

"Kylan, please "

"Get away from me," he spat, "I don't want to talk to you."

"I had your

back."

"If you really had my back, you would have never made us go there in the first place," he sobbed, his sight becoming blurry, "but all hell breaks loose if I want to have a fucking say in this relationship." "What are you talking about? I always listen to what you have to say "

"When?!" He exclaimed, aggressively widening his arms, "You never do! It's always your way, or you're mad. I'm exhausted Jonah, you said I was suffocating, but the one being suffocating is you." "You don't mean that."

"We're taking a break; don't contact me."

"I'm not letting you take a break from me," Jonah shook his head, furrowing his brows, "I don't want to."

"Again, making it all about you."

"You know what, Kylan?" he scoffed, "You're mad at me for wanting to reconnect with my own fucking family. At the end of the day, they will always be my priority. And every time they ask me to come have a talk, I will always be hopeful and go. She's my fucking mother, Kylan!"

"And I'm an important person in your life too. I'm not asking you to stop reconnecting with them. I'm asking you to stop putting me in situations where I feel like my entire existence is a mistake and a burden."

"You'll have to face them during life Ky, that's just how life goes. And I was there for you today, wasn't I?"

Kylan shook his head, seeing that Ella's vehicle had driven past and parked beside the gate. He began walking towards the car, and Jonah followed him, "You're not leaving. You came with me."

"I'm staying at Ella's," he hissed, glaring towards Jonah, "and we're taking a break. I need my space from you, and if you loved me, you'd let me have it."
