Chapter 36
"Kylan!"
He heard his name being called down the hall at the beginning of school. He raised his head from his locker, spotting Charles, but also spotting Jonah with his group of friends, who glanced as well when Charles yelled his name. Charles approached Kylan's locker and smiled, leaning against the locker beside him, "I wanted to thank you again for coming last night."
"Where did he go last night?" Ella asked cluelessly, coming from behind Kylan, who groaned, not wanting to tell her. It was too late now, since when she saw his annoyed face, she slammed her fist into his side, causing him to wince, "I said where did he go?"
"He came to my piano recital," Charles answered, beaming, "If you want, we have another one in a few weeks. You can come as well," he directed to Ella, who frowned.
"Does it look like I can sit there for an hour and listen to classical instrumental music?" she said with a scoff.
Charles shrugged his shoulders, "It's better than you think."
Ella turned to Kylan, who nodded his head, "Peaceful."
"Guess I'll have to think about it," she admitted. "Think about what?"
Jonah approached the conversation, placing his palm on Charles' shoulder and squeezing a bit harder than he should. When Charles winced a bit, Jonah felt satisfied; he was taller and bigger than him, hence why he attempted to use his intimidation tactics.
Kylan rolled his eyes while Ella grimaced towards him and said, "To a piano recital."
"A piano recital?" he mocked, frowning, "Who goes to those?"
Charles raised an eyebrow, "I had mine yesterday, and Kylan came." Kylan saw the look in Jonah's eyes, and he knew he was going to hear from it after this conversation. Charles also saw an exchange glance between the two of them and immediately began distancing himself, "Well, you are all invited to my next one. I have class="
"Wait," Jonah called, but Charles rushed away, turning around the corner, which made Jonah turn back to Kylan, but between them stepped Ella, who sent him a daring look. "You have something to say?" she challenged.
He gritted his teeth, "This is between Kylan and me."
"Not anymore after you told him to get beat by his father-"
"Ella," Kylan breathed.
"And when you had sex with your ex-girlfriend, and telling him that you had a kid."
Jonah shook his head, "It was a mistake. I apologized. That doesn't mean you can go around finding new boys to take my spot."
Kylan opened his mouth to respond, but Ella beat him to it, "I don't know who you think you're talking to, Jonah, but you better step the fuck back."
"I swear if you were a guy, I'd smash your face against this locker," he menaced.
Her eyes widened, "What did you just say to me?" Her fists bawled, "You would what?"
"I would-"
"Alright," Bradley jumped in front of Ella, grabbing her wrist, "Ella, you're too aggressive. Let them talk."
"No," she attempted to release his grasp on her wrist, "he'll just take advantage of him."

"It's better than you getting expelled for hitting him," he hissed and waved a hand at Kylan, pulling her away from the scene.
Jonah pushed Kylan into an empty classroom and locked the door behind him. He was furious, in disbelief that Kylan would be in such a hurry to find another man rather than just forgiving him. He exhaled a sharp breath, trying to calm himself down, and started the conversation, "Are you doing this to hurt me?"
"No."
"Because it's working," Jonah hissed, stepping towards Kylan, "not in a way that would make me bawl my eyes out at you and plead for forgiveness, but in a way that I'm starting to despise everything about you."
Kylan raised his eyebrows, shocked that Jonah could even say that, "Is that so?"
"Yes, Kylan. You're not even giving me another chance."
"Maybe because you don't deserve another chance."
"I helped you out so many times, and you just dropped me like I meant nothing."
"Is that really what you believe happened?" he scoffed.
Jonah widened his arms, "That is what happened."
"You lied to me, never told me about your ex and your son. Then we have a fight, and you leave me to go have sex with her," he said sternly, "don't you think it has anything to do with that?"
"I already said it was a mistake. What else do you want from me—"
"You said some words to me that I don't think I could ever get past from."
"I didn't mean them. I was angry-"
"And you punched me," he breathed, shaking his head. "You punched me square in the nose because you were angry."
"Holy shit, Ky," Jonah said, squinting his eyes, "When are you going to stop being so weak and frail?"
Kylan's eyes widened; recently, Jonah had been eliciting such rage from within him that he never even knew existed. He wanted to fight him to the ground until he did not move, and that mere thought made Kylan realize that Jonah was changing him and not in a good way.
However, that did not stop it from firing in his blood, and he grabbed his bag, pushing it to the side and rolling up his sleeves.
Jonah frowned, raising his palms in front of him defensively, "What's going on?"
"Fight me," Kylan spat.
"You want to fight me?"
"Yes," he bawled his palms into fists and stared menacingly into Jonah's navy eyes.
Jonah laughed, "You're being ridiculous, Ky. Either way, you could never beat me in a—"
Suddenly, Kylan lunged towards Jonah and swung his fist backward, swinging towards his face to which Jonah raised his arm to block, but Kylan had seen that coming and slammed his other one directly into Jonah's stomach; he lost his breath for a moment, and tumbled over, which made Kylan raise his knee and connect directly with her nose. Jonah stumbled backward, his back hitting the door in shock. Not only had he been hit, but his nose was bleeding. It must be broken, and that caused him to see all black.
The next thing he remembered was being carried off from Kylan and seeing him unconscious with blood all over his face.
