The Gay Nerd Who Stole His Heart

Chapter 23

Kylan sat within his room, staring at the ceiling. He was unsure whether to begin sobbing or if he was overreacting. One thing was certain; he wanted to be alone. He shuffled in his bed, now staring at the wall as he recalled what occurred after

school.

Jonah had been extremely nice.

After school, he surprised Kylan at his locker, placing his palm on the locker beside them, and when Kylan turned around, he squeezed the space between them, pressing his chest against Kylan's. It was shocking how many people walked by without saying anything of their public display of affection, and even Ella, who usually met Kylan at his locker once school ended, turned the other way once she saw Jonah pressed against him. Kylan's face became warm, stressing red as he glanced sideways, noticing a few eyes observing them before looking away.

It took Jonah to grip Kylan's chin and place his lips on his for Kylan to pay attention to him. When he pulled away, Kylan lowered his head, but Jonah felt his palm reach for his waist and squeeze softly.

"Are you coming with me?" Jonah asked excitingly.

Kylan slowly nodded his head, "Yea."

They left school property, and Jonah had gotten the idea to go see a movie.

It had not been the first time they had been in public; however, Kylan never really liked being in public with Jonah. For one, there were always eyes rotating in Jonah's direction, and a few women even went as far as sending flirtatious eyes to Jonah, licking their lips seductively. Jonah was used to receiving this sort of attention, but he realized that Kylan was quite insecure and did not favor seeing all those beautiful girls giving attention to the person he was crushing on and was with. Therefore, as they stood in line to buy their tickets, Jonah reached around Kylan's shoulders, pressing his chest against his back and leaning his chin on top of Kylan's head.

He murmured, "Why do you seem so worried?"

Kylan gulped, shrugging his shoulders, "You attract too many women."

After a short cocky chuckle, Jonah said, "What can I say? I am handsome." Kylan did not really like that joke, and Jonah leaned in his ear, placing a short peck right underneath, onto his neck, before exhaling a long breath, knowing that the warm air from his mouth would linger along Kylan's neck. He then murmured, "Have you seen me glance at them once?"

Kylan bit his bottom lip, "No."

"That's because I only want you," he breathed, "so don't worry too much, okay?"

Kylan fell flustered, "Alright."

He did not separate from Kylan until they reached the counter, and the only reason he did so was to pay for the tickets, to which Kylan endlessly protested but was ignored by Jonah. There were a few instances that did cause Kylan's heart to clench, though. As they were waiting in line to buy their popcorn, a few girls behind them were giggling, and as they glanced backward, it was evident they were shyly attempting to attract Jonah's attention. Jonah noticed Kylan's jaw stiffen, and he smirked; it was very cute how protective Kylan became. Hence why Jonah leaned towards Kylan and slowly placed his lips onto his. Since he was facing the girls, he opened his eyes during the kiss, and winked at them, and wrapped his arms around Kylan.

There was one instance when they reached the counter to buy popcorn, and a random woman bumped into Jonah and said, "Sorry, I didn't see you there."

"That's fine. Are you okay?" Jonah said politely.

The woman chuckled nervously, "Yea, actually, how about I give you my number, and I'll let you know in a little bit?"

Kylan bit his bottom lip aggressively, such an angry stare plastering on his face that Jonah began laughing. It was terribly cute that he almost accepted the number, only to see what Kylan would do. However, he knew that would hurt Kylan's feelings and instead wrapped an arm around his shoulder and said, "What do you think, babe? Should I accept her number or not?" Kylan's throat tightened; he did not like being put on the spot. However, his face gave away the answer, and Jonah sighed, "Sorry, I can tell he wants to say no."

The woman raised an eyebrow, "Are you two dating or something?"

"No," Kylan replied.

Simultaneously, Jonah said, "Yes."

She frowned and began chuckling, "You should get that sorted out." She turned around and walked away, and Jonah watched as she disappeared within the throng of people.

It was not until after the movies and after they reached the car and driven out of the parking lot that Jonah cleared his throat, with one hand on the wheel and another one on Kylan's thigh, and asked about that. "That girl was right, Kylan," he began. "We should get that sorted out."

"Get what sorted out?"

Jonah continued, "She asked if we were dating, and you said no."

Kylan shrugged his shoulders. "We aren't." He said it so bluntly that Jonah glanced in his direction to examine his face. He seemed serious, staring at the road, and Jonah wondered why it was so easy of him to say no. He raised an eyebrow, "I said yes."

"Why did you say yes?" Kylan asked in confusion.

Jonah scoffed, unable to understand why Kylan was behaving so cluelessly, "Because I thought we were an item at least."

"You never asked me to be an item with you--"

"Had Ashley asked to be an item with you?" Jonah said, feeling a bit of anger wrapping his emotions. When Kylan shook his head, he continued, "You still said yes when Bradley asked that day."

Kylan shrugged his shoulders, "I guess it didn't really matter what it was with Ashley."

Jonah shook his head, gripping the steering wheel a bit tighter as he said, "But we're together, right? I mean, I'm yours, and you're mine."

Kylan was unsure what to reply and said, "I don't know."

"What do you mean you don't know?" Jonah said impatiently, "So you would not get upset if I had sex with a random girl?"

He bit his bottom lip, "I mean, I would, but technically we're not dating-"

"Then that's your problem, but in my eyes, you're mine," he snapped, "so you can't go messing around with other dudes and making out with other girls."

Kylan nodded his head with a soft smile, "I won't."

When they reached Kylan's home, it was not long until Jonah turned off the lights and advanced towards him, pressing his lips against Kylan's as his fingers roamed different parts of his body, reaching his belt buckle and battling with it until he heard the click. As their romance continued, they were in the middle of their bodies melting within one another, Kylan moaning soft but echoing loud enough for Jonah to hear, when all of a sudden, Jonah's phone beginning to ring, capturing his attention, and he immediately detached himself from Kylan, who frowned in confusion.

Jonah raced to his pants on the floor, and when he reached his cellphone, he read the name ID and immediately began placing on his clothes with such rapidity, Kylan thought he was going to fall. "I got to go," he muffled as he slipped his shirt on, grabbing his jacket.

"What's going on?"

"Nothing, she just needs me right now—"

"She?"

Jonah had not meant to let that slip out, and when he realized he had, his jaw tightened. He shook his head, approached Kylan, and placed a peck on his forehead, "I meant he."

Kylan knew he was lying but observed as Jonah left the room, clacking the bedroom door as he exited. That was what happened for Kylan to be shuffling in his bed, debating whether to cry or ignore what had occurred.
