The Fox and The Wolf

Chapter 17: Hiding Ashe

Avery

We managed to get out of the woods and are cautiously making our way up to the pack house.

“Wait.” I said stopping.

“What?” Ashe asked scared.

“We need to finish a new place to hide you until I can talk to Jake. I can’t bring you to the pack house. Pretty much everyone lives there.” I slapped my forehead and groaned.

How did I not think of that?

“Okay. Umm. Avery it’s fine. Just let me go back and I can a stay in the woods.”

I shook my head at her. “If we do that, then you could get killed. Jake is doubling the patrol because we had over 50 rogues attack us here before and the ones that earlier.”

She looked confused. “Earlier?”

I nodded. “I was with Cory and Blake and all of the sudden they smelt rogues and told me to run. Then that’s when I tripped over you.”

When I finished talking, Ashe’s eyes went wide. “Oh no. That was them.”

I was about to answer, but I smelt the presence of another wolf.

I growled and stood in front of Ashe and turned to face whoever was there.

I stopped growling when I saw one of the elders.

“Elder Mary.” I smiled.

When I was meeting everyone in the pack, her and I clicked instantly.

“I am hurt Avery. You growled at me.” She said fake gasping.

I laughed and ran to give her a hug. “Sorry. I didn’t know it was you.”

“So who’s this?” She asked with an eyebrow raised.

“Uh. This is Ashe.” I said nervously.

“A rogue?” She asked turning to face me. I gulped and nodded. “Are you trying to save her?”

“Yes.” My voice was small.

Mary surprised me by bringing me I to a hug. “You are making a damn good Luna.” She told me letting me go. “Barely any werewolves these days would bring a rogue in their territory without further inspection. I am so proud of you.”

I smiled widely at her. “Thank you Mary. But I have to find a place for her to stay. I can’t keep her at the pack house until I can get Jake to agree to this.”

She looked at Ashe for a second and Ashe stepped back in fear. Then Mary turned to me with a bright smile.

“She can stay with me and Allan.”

I looked at her wide eyes. “Are you sure?”

She nodded. “Of course. I’m sure you had a reason to bring Ashe here. And I trust you.”

“I don’t really have a reason. It’s more like a gut feeling. Something inside of just told me to keep her safe. I don’t know why, but something was drawing me towards her. I couldn’t just leave her out there. And the feeling was really strong.”

Mary let what I said sink in before she spoke. “Well, that’s quite interesting.” I nodded. “Let’s go to my house and get you settled in dear.”

“So Ashe. Tell us about yourself.” Allan said sitting next to Mary.

She looked at me and I gave her a smile and nodded. She took a deep breathe. “Well, a week ago, rogues came into my pack. The White Dawn Pack, and wiped us all out. My father was the beta and we were celebrating my 18th birthday when we heard a scream. The next thing I know, the body of my mother was thrown out from the woods and rogues appeared.” She stopped and tears were flowing down her face.

I immediately shot up from my seat and ran towards her and pulled her into my embrace.

“Shh. It’s okay. You don’t have to continue.” I said tightening my arms around her.

She shook her head and looked up. “No, it’s fine.” I let her sit up but she held on tightly to my hand. “It all happened so fast. Rogues just poured out of the trees and attacked all of us. They were just plowing over us and killing us all. My pack wasn’t very big and once they killed the alpha, everyone in the pack just gave up. But my father and I escaped. But sadly, a group of rogues found us and attacked.” She paused and took a deep breathe. “My father and I split up after the rogues attacked us. And I don’t know where he is at. I’m scared that they killed him or he took his own life for losing his mate and only child.”

Ashe threw herself in my arms and sobbed.

We sat there like that for 15 minutes. Her crying and me holding her.

I rubbed her back and laid my cheek on top of her head. “Ashe. We will find him. Okay?” I whispered in her ear. I felt her nod and I smiled and held her tighter.

“Avery.” Allan said. I looked up at him and he had a sad smile. “Alpha Jake is calling everyone to know if they saw you. He heard about the rogue attack.”

I sighed. “Okay.” I gently pushed Ashe up into a sitting position. “I have to leave. But I will talk to Jake about what we can do. And don’t worry, I won’t mention anything about you. I’ll just randomly ask questions about maybe a rogue being taken in and living here.”

I got up, but she pulled me back down and wrapped her arms around me. “Please don’t leave me Avery!” She sobbed uncontrollably.

I wrapped my arms around her. “It’s okay Ashe. Allan and Mary will take good care of you. They won’t let anyone from the pack or outside of the pack to see you. They will keep you well hidden. And if you need me at all, I’ll come over right away.”

“But I need you now.” She sniffed pulling back to look at me.

I pulled her in for another hug before releasing her and standing up again. “I can’t stay right now. But I will come see you first thing in the morning. Okay?”

She nodded. “Okay.”

I turned to Mary and Allan. “Please take good care of Ashe and don’t let anyone see her.”

“Of course Avery.” Mary said.

I smiled in gratitude and hugged everyone one last time before walking out of her house.

“Luna!” I turned around and saw Trent and Levi running up to me.

I groaned but laughed. “How many times do I have to tell you. Call me Avery.”

They caught up to me and quickly stood by my side. “Alpha Jake wants to see you right away. He heard about the rogues that trespassed.”

I sighed. “Okay. Where is he?”

“At the pack house.” Trent said as we started walking that way.

“And he’s going insane.” Levi told me.

“Great.” I muttered.

The minute I walked in the pack house, I gasped.

There was broken furniture everywhere. And I mean. Everywhere.

The chairs were broken, a table was flipped, another table was split in half, the tv was smashed, the other one was on the ground with some of the glass out of it, the flower vases were all broken and the some of the flowers were smashed, picture frames were on the ground, and there are giant holes in the walls.

“Oh my gosh. What happened?” I yelled.

A lady probably in her late 20’s came running up too me. “Alpha Jake was so upset. He couldn’t find you Luna Avery. He went on a rampage. He sent out trackers looking everywhere for you.”

I gasped and looked around.

I took a step in the house and hissed in pain when I stepped on a piece of the vase.

“Shit!” I yelled.

“Be careful Avery.” Trent said grabbing my arm.

I pulled out the glass and set it back down on the ground.

“Get people to clean this up. Either let the children outside or keep them out of these rooms.” I said.

I heard a bunch of ‘yes Luna’s’.

“Trent, Levi. Can you help me to wherever Jake is.” I asked them.

“Of course.” Trent said.

They helped me around the glass, but we had to go slow because of my foot. I still had blood dripping down.

“Sorry bout the floor.” I said embarrassed.

Levi laughed. “No need. We can get someone to clean this up.”

‘He’s in his office.’ Red spoke out.

“Where is his office?” I asked.

“Uh this way.” Trent said leading us down the long hallway.

We came up to a giant wooden door.

“You guys can go. I can handle him.” I told them.

“Are you sure?” Levi asked hesitantly.

“His wolf might be in control at the moment.” Trent added.

“Yes guys. I’m sure. I will be fine.” I gave them a reassuring smile.

They nodded and walked off.

I turned towards the door and knocked before I entered.

“Where is she?” Jake growled and slammed his fists down on his desk.

Well at least I think that is Jake.

“Jake?” I asked.

Once he heard me, his face snapped up and I met bright glowing blue eyes.

Ah shit..

“Avery.” He smiled and ran toward me with such speed that I didn’t even see him.

“Uh? Jake?” I asked timidly.

“Guess again sweetheart.” He smiled.

“I don’t know your name. Sorry.” I laughed nervously.

“The name’s Kaydon.”

“Oh hey.” I smiled. “Can I have Jake back?”

He frowned for a moment. “Gee thanks Avery. Love you too.”

“No no no.” I said and pulled him into a bear hug. “I didn’t mean it like that. I just need to talk to him about something.”

“Okay.” He smiled. He pecked my lips and his eyes went back to normal.

“Avery!” Jake screamed and hugged me even tighter.

I tapped his shoulder. “Can’t….breathe.”

He let go but kept his grip on my waist. “Where were you? I was so worried. Kaydon and I were freaking out. Blake and Cory were freaking out. Hell, everyone was freaking out. I didn’t know where you were, I thought those rogues kidnapped you or something, or even killed you, or-“

I shut him up by pressing my lips to his.

He growled and pulled me into him even more.

He put one arm around my waist to keep me locked there. He put the other on the side of my neck and tilted my head for better access.

I decided it would be a good time to pull away because I felt his uh….friend down south come out to hang with us. And let me tell you…I’m pretty sure he is huge because that’s what it felt like.

I pulled back and I was shocked to see pitch black eyes that filled will so much emotion. Happiness, relief, lust and…love? He couldn’t possibly love me. Could he?

He growled softly and I giggled. “You pulled away from me.” He teased with his husky voice and black eyes.

“Your friend down south came to visit.” I said pointing downwards.

His eyes popped out of his head and ran to his chair. He put some files on his laps and scooted the chair in as far as it could go.

I laughed and held onto my stomach.

“Ya ya. Laugh it up.” He mumbled looking away embarrassed.

I laughed even harder and saw his face turn bright red.

“Aww. The big bad alpha is blushing.” I teased.

He growled and stood up. But I started laughing again at the giant tent in his pants.

“Shit.” He grumbled and sat back down.

“You might need to take a cold shower.” I said trying to hold back my laughter.

“You might need to take a cold shower.” He mimicked standing up, but keeping a file in front of his….uh friend.

He walked over to his door and opened it.

“Where ya going?” I asked knowing the answer.

“To take a shower.” He mumbled.

I snickered and made my way upstairs and sat on our bed.

I waited for him to be done with his shower and started twirling my thumbs.

What am I going to say? What if he doesn’t like rogues that much? What if he despises them so much, he would kill them without a second thought?

So many ‘what ifs’ ran trough my mind that I didn’t realize Jake came out of the shower.

“You okay babe?” He asked.

I snapped my head over to him and my eyes trailed down his chest.

Holy shit. He. Has. Abs. And they were heavenly.

His lightly dusted happy trial led down into the towel and his sexy v-lines followed.

I watched as a drop of water slid down his pecks to his abs before it soaked into his towel.

Oh how I so badly wanted to go over there and lick that water up.

I watched as the muscle in his arms flexed and trailed my eyes up to his face to see a cute little smirk and his blue eyes shining bright with mischief.

“Ya done checking me out yet?” He said smugly.

I felt the blood rush up my neck into my cheeks. I scoffed and turned around. “Pft…I-I pft….totally not checking you out…pft. Whatever.”

He chuckled and took some clothes before he left to go into the bathroom again.

Damn him….

‘Holy shit! Did you see those abs! Oh my gosh!’ Red yelled.

‘You sound like a total fan girl Red.’ I laughed.

‘Well can you blame me?!’

‘Good point.’ I trailed off.

’Exactly! That luscious body of his. And his wolf? Can you say ‘sexy as hell’!’

I shook my head at her. ‘What am I going to do with you?’

I squeaked when I felt arms go around my waist.

He chuckled as he brought his lips down to my neck and placed a kiss there.

He then trailed kisses up to my ear and lightly bit my earlobe. “So.” He breathed in my ear. “What did you want to ask me?”

He finished off as he sat on the bed with his arms still around me and brought me into his lap.

He tightened his grip and I felt his fingertips glide up and down my left arm.

“Umm. I…” My voice faded as I felt his teeth tug on my earlobe again.

Okay….he is making this extremely difficult to answer his question.

Come on Avery!

I stood up and sat on the couch on the other side of the room.

Jake growled and crossed his arms.

Phew..

“As I was saying.” I started. “Are all rogues bad?” I asked.

He looked over at me questionably.

“What do you mean?” He asked and sat next to me.

“I mean. Are all rogues bad?”

He shrugged. “I don’t really know. I haven’t come across a nice rogue before.”

“So say that they were nice, would you let them into the pack?”

He shrugged again. “I don’t really know.”

“Oh. Okay.”

“Why?” He asked.

I smiled. “Just wondering I guess.”
