The Forgotten Luna (Adessa)

Chapter 27

MIRANDA.

I couldn't believe Kael's revelation!

How on earth did he find Adessa? And why did Alpha Draco not call me to inform me that Adessa had escaped him?

I was not sure if Adessa knew or met Alpha Draco when she was kidnapped or if she was able to run away before she realized where she would be taken. So I had to be careful, as she might have told Kael about him. Even if I wanted to confront Alpha Draco, I knew I shouldn't do it, as Kael might be watching him closely if Adessa dropped his name.

This was getting messier! Everything was spiraling out of my control.

If Dexter had driven with him to Bayson City instead of planning the failed car accident, then he could have known where he had taken Adessa. But he was stupid to think the car accident timing should be today.

Aah!

I was fuming mad, and even if Dexter wanted a word with me after we left Kael's office, I pushed him away as I thought Landon would come out of the office and might realize we were talking or had gone off somewhere together.

I needed Dexter away from me as much as possible and for him to be visible wherever Kael was so he would know his every move.

I was about to head upstairs to take my anxiety medications when I heard the door to the Alpha's office slammed. I peered through the corners and saw Desiree walking out with a scowl on her face.

I slipped inside one of the receiving rooms, and the moment she was about to pass by, I opened the door and pulled her inside once I was sure no one was following her.

"Aaah..." She let out a shriek, then shrugged her shoulders, indicating that I should release her. "Careful!"

"Why are you here?" I snapped at her, my eyes glaring at her.

She glared back at me. "And why not?"

"You're supposed to pacify Kael and not anger him more!"

"Oh, excuse me, Miranda! Did you notice how completely enamored he was with Adessa? He wasn't the same man I had a relationship with before, so obviously, this scheme of throwing myself at him doesn't work anymore!"

"It's your fault!" I pointed a finger at her temple, and she swatted it with her hand.

"Don't you do that!" She shrieked.

"Shut up! If you're not stupid to play around, you should be the Luna of this pack already!"

"Who said I wanted to become the Luna of this pack? I just want a good life, but if Kael..."

"Shut up!" My hand flew and landed on her cheek. The sound of my slap resonated around this small room. I raised my hand and pointed a finger at her face. "I am doing this for you! You should be thankful I'm looking after your future! So stop throwing tantrums at Kael!" Her chest heaved as her eyes squinted. I could see tears pooling in them, but I knew my own daughter. She would never shed a tear. I made her strong this way.

"You should be the one thankful because I just saved you asses out there!" She said, gritting her teeth.

"What do you mean?" I asked, my forehead creasing.

"Kael thinks you were after Adessa, and I stopped him from interrogating you more with my tantrums. Didn't I?" She scoffed before looking at me accusingly. "Did you do something to Adessa?"

I swallowed. Desiree knew nothing of the plan to eliminate Kael and nothing of Adessa being sold to Draco.

"Answer me."

"That is none of your business. But no... Why would I do that?"

"I know when you're lying, Miranda. When did you ever care about Adessa? But you were acting as if she were your daughter, and you were so concerned about her whereabouts!" "Does it make you jealous?"

"Enough! This is not what I signed up for! You told me Adessa was planning to leave Kael! That the email I received was from Kael, wanting me back! Was that email a lie, too?"

"No. I didn't even know about the email until you told me he emailed you!" I kept shaking my head, trying to soften my expression even when I wanted to pull her hair for raising her voice at me.

Before Kael's accident, while he was busy discussing his plan to propose and marry Adessa to Dexter, Dexter accessed his personal email in my instructions and sent an email to Desiree, professing his love for her and how he wanted to get back with her.

I needed Desiree back here for Adessa to doubt Kael's feelings for her while he was neglecting her-not knowing he was preparing his proposal to her.

Dexter made sure Desiree would never reply to that email, as he wrote that Adessa had access to it, so she should never reply and just flew back here. To be sure, Dexter connected his email to Kael's so he would get a notification if there was an incoming message. Desiree didn't reply but showed up here weeks before Kael's accident.

"The only reason I'm pushing myself here after he woke up is because you were so sure that it was me he wanted and not her! But obviously, these were all made-up stories because even without his memory, his actions were all crying for Adessa!" "Lower your voice!" I snapped at her.

"Did you do something to Adessa?"

"No!"

"Stop lying to me! Are you planning to kill her?"

"She should be the least of your worries! You need to go back

there..." I smiled at her and held her shoulders before brushing one hand on her blonde locks. "Tell Kael that you're sorry for shouting at him, and ask fum if he needs help with Adessa. That you understand, he's a good man and cannot just neglect a

V

woman in need. Offer to help him..."

She shoved my hand as tears pooled in her eyes again, but I could feel the anger radiating from her. "We're not supposed to kill anyone." She said.

"Of course not. That's wicked. How

could you think of that? Adessa seduced Kael. I told you he told Dexter that he was about to forgive

you for cheating on him, but then Adessa seduced him and threatened to tell everyone he raped her

Adessa is the enemy, Desiree. Not

me."

"I'm going home to my apartment." She stepped back, tilting her head up as she looked at me with raised brows. "I need time to think."

"Don't give me that attitude, Desiree. I am still your mother. You do as you're told."

"I said I needed time to think if I really wanted this." She turned around and was about to reach for the doorknob.

"If you walk out of this house, you will never be able to walk the streets of this territory or the nearby cities with you head held high." I scoffed. "I still have every indecent video and photo of you, my dear daughter. With just a single click, it can quickly become a viral scandal."

"I hate you." She said in a low, broken voice, and I knew I won again.

"You can hate me more, but I still hold the ace in this game. Go back to your room and fix yourself. Then go to Kael, and I don't care if you go to him naked or what. Just make sure you get to his good side again."
